Guess who I talked to today?
I was really bored at work today, so I decided to call my "girlfriend," the one who hasn't talked to me in two months.
I haven't called her in a few weeks, so i thought I would say hello, let her know I was still around, wondering how she was, blah blah...
Would you believe, she called me back?
Not called exactly, she text messaged me.
1st message - I am surprised you called. I am embarrased to speak to you after all this time. My emotional freak out was no excuse for my horrible behavior.
I texted her back, telling her she didn't have to be afraid.
I'm not going to bore you guys with all the details, but we exchanged a few text messages this afternoon, and I talked to her tonight.
She's sorry she hasn't called, but she has been afraid to talk to me, thinking I'm angry that she's totally blown me off these past two months - which I'm not, mind you. I've been worried sick about her! I feared she was in some hospital somewhere.
Anyway, she tells me she's moving into her own place this weekend (she was living with her brother and his family) she is working on getting her life back on track.
Now this is what pisses me off...
When was she going to get around to calling me to say she was okay? Was she going to just get on with her life and not tell this guy who she was dating that she was alive and well?
I understand that she's embarrased about cutting off all contact with me and leaving me high and dry, and she went through a lot of emotional turmoil, But c'mon! I wouldn't have been calling her once a week the past few months if I was angry at her!
I told her all this, and to be quite honest, I was ready to say bye bye and so long right there, but I stopped myself...
I'm too old to break up with someone over the phone.
I deserve one more face to face meeting before this is over.
So we're getting together next weekend here in the city to talk things out. She agreed that the least she could do was face me and let me say my piece one on one.
So that's where things stand. I am angry beyond belief that she tried to move on without even saying goodbye, but at least I now know it is over, and I don't have to spend the rest of my life wondering what happened to her.
Jesus Christ! Love should never be this hard!
