I'm not sure if this has been asked yet, but GG has had episodes about drug dependancy, gambling, death and etc......
What is your favorite serious episode(s)?

All Bets Are Off (gambling episode)
Home Again, Rose (the one where Rose has heart surgery)
Sick And Tired (where Dorothy is sick and they need to find out what it is)
The Heartattack (When Sophia thinks she is having a heart attack... this is one of my top 3 favorite episodes!)
The episode where Blanche gets a pacemaker...
Break-In (When the house is broken into)
One Flew Out Of The Cuckoo's Nest (the final episode!)
And the episode where they are tihnking about selling the house
Oh yeah, and the episode where that girl is pregnant...
and one last one... the ep. with the lottery ticket in the jacket.

In no particular order:

1. Rose might have aids

2. Dorothy has chronic fatigue

3. Lottery ticket episode

4. Haven't seen "Break-In" in ages, but that would be one

5. Sophia's friend comes to live with the girls, because her nursing home is even worse than Shady Pines

6. Sophia's friend wants to commit suicide

Break-In is the only one I like. I can't stand the other "serious" ones.

All Bets Are Off (gambling episode)

This one is DEFINITLY not a serius episode. All it has is a message. This one's comedy all the way.

I never really thought of that episode as being a serious one, but it's one of my favorites.

I also love "Home Again Rose" parts 1 & 2. It's really very touching and shows what a strong bond the girls have, but it has some absolutely hilarious lines at the same time. (ie. Rose as King Fung-Toi: "Different on outside, same on inside!" LOL!)

My favorite serious episode (well, that I've always considered serious) is the one where Big Daddy dies. When Blanche stands before his grave and says she knows she wasn't always easy to love, but would give anything to have him back--that's so touching. And it really shows a much softer and more vulnerable side of Blanche--a side we don't often get to see.

I like the one where Dororhy's lesbian friend comes to visit. And the other girls doesn't know that she is a lesbian. That is my favorite episode.

I like the one when Rose was hooked on pills, Break-In, and Phil's death. What about when that mean lady that lived down the street died? (Mrs. Claxton?) And they had to plan her funeral. Serious?

Personally I thought that one was more of a comedy episode. It had its serious moments, but a lot of it was jokes.

1. Break-in

2. The episode when Mrs. Claxton dies.

3. Where Sophia thought she was having a heart-attack.

I like the episode in which Sophia befriends an elderly African American man who has Alzheimers. Very moving.
