View Full Version : Are you depressed?
pandora_spocks 02-26-2003, 07:38 PM How many people on this board have depression? I know I do and I'm pretty sure I have BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder). I don't take drugs for it, but I really should. But I hate going to doctors and for some reason when I do I become all fake like nothing is wrong. I hate doctors thats why I don't go. Anyone have a past of depression or bpd? Just curious to know how you deal with it.
Brandon 02-26-2003, 07:39 PM i don't. i am happy almost all the darn time. i hate to know that u have depression. i understand why u think ur ugly. cuz ur NEGATIVE. but, trust me... ur HOTT. (lol, i bring that up WAY too much)
Babes_Cat 02-26-2003, 07:43 PM *raises hands* I've struggled with it for maybe 2 or 3 years... right now I'm on medication but before it was bad. I was a cutter and sucidal and... just totally out of control but the medication that I'm on now helps.

I'm always thinking about ending my life, but haven't done it yet. What kind of meds do you take if you don't mind me asking.

brownsocks 02-26-2003, 07:50 PM i am i guess you'd say. i am usually pretty down and not overly happy if at all. i don't take medication and very few people even know about it. i can hide anything from anyone but only for so long. My closest friends know but they are the only ones. i deal with it by being aroound them and with them as much as i can. and i have been pretty suicidal at times but my friends keep me here and going.

Have you taken anything before Effexor? I don't know much about the drugs for depression since I never took them before.
Rockapella722 02-26-2003, 07:58 PM I'm pretty sure I do, even though it isn't officially diagnosed by a doctor.
Hollow 02-26-2003, 08:11 PM yeah i have depression :( its pretty bad. last nite i got a safety pin and slashed my wrist 3 times.
Tuesday Weld 02-26-2003, 08:11 PM I have some depression, but luckily it has never stayed really severe.I take Zoloft, but I can't state as fact that it helps.
pandora_spocks 02-26-2003, 08:13 PM I just get to the point where I feel like I'm being smothered by life. It's so hard for me to explain though.
My mom has depression too. I read some old letters she had wrote to her friend a long time ago, but she never sent them. Anyway, in those letters she had written that she wanted to take some drugs and throw herself into the river and just drown. I guess it runs in the family.

I could never kill myself by slitting my wrists though. Everytime I think about it both of my wrists get this terrible throbbing pain.

Okay, I've heard of that and Prozac. You have to go to the doctor to get these don't you? If so, I'll have to stick to the herbal remedies and see if that will work.

I hate it when ppl hit on me online...compliments are fine, but ppl like sitcom****er dont know that.
Hollow 02-26-2003, 08:22 PM I take paxil but it seems to stop working when i get REALLY depressed, until i take it again...thats why i cut myself last nite, but i dont wanna do that anymore, i guess i'll take more paxil instead.
vienna waits 02-26-2003, 08:23 PM The only thing I'm depressed about is the fact that I don't have a car. I hate relying on friends and family to go places now. But, eventually I'll get another car.
Kay Scarpetta 02-26-2003, 08:46 PM I'm um... more like... beyond depressed. How do you get beyond depressed? Don't ask me. I'm so ****ed up these days, it's not even funny... and everything contributes to it. I mean, nothing is the cause of it... I mean- I don't know why I feel like this. But then you put my family and other people and issues on top of it, and well I'm just one walking nuthouse. I'm a loose cannon. I was seeing a shrink, but apparently my idiot mother doesn't know how bad I am, so she never called her back... so now, I'm stuck- no one to talk to, no medicine. But I'm beyond that point. I'm convinced that nothing can and ever will help me. I mean, I don't even know what I am. My guess would be Clinically Depressed with Bi-Polar mood swings. That's my first guess... but then, I hallucinate also. Maybe mild (I mean VERY mild) Schizophrenia mixed in? I've also got like, 289532 moods and personalities... Multiple Personality Disorder? As you can tell... I'm a little off the tracks right now. Maybe my life will change. Or maybe I'll just sit here until I rot away or just jump a bridge.

Karly, I don't know how to do it but you need to be on some kind of antidepressant! Please get some help. I'm worried about you!:(Depression is a real illness and one can't just "snap out" of it!I know that some people will tell you that "it could be worse" but I'm not one of those! I can sympathize with anybody in this condition. Please try to get help! I hate to see anybody (especially as young as you) feeling hopeless! There is help out there!:)

Thanks Marlene.... a lot. Really. It's nice to know someone cares... even if they live far away and constantly torture you with pictures of clowns (I haven't lost my sense of humor yet ;)) But all joking aside.... I don't have a very good relationship with my parents, therefore I can't talk to them- I wish my mother could just realize that one can't just "snap out" of it. It's hard. I mean, I guess you'd have to know the full story... my background info, my family, friends, how I don't trust anyone, etc. etc, and unless you want to be sitting here for 4 days, well ya know. But there is one person who I'm super close to, and it's actually my principal. Everyone in my grade calls her my "mother", because I'm constantly with her and she's always looking out for me. She's been helping me through this. I guess I really should talk to her again, and try to get her to convince my mother to just get me some help. But yet again, thanks Marlene. :loveya:
Georgia's on my Mind 02-26-2003, 09:34 PM Not lately, but i do go through phases of depression...
Kristina 02-26-2003, 10:16 PM yep I do... *cough* among other things. I had OCD as a child and still have it, I used to take Luvox but then got off it and went to Zoloft. My mom thinks it went away but it honestly didn't at all... and my parents hate me enough so I'm not even going to bother them with this again. OCD is obsessive compulsive disorder and it makes my life hell, thats why I'm so depressed. Lets say somebody touches an end of something like a table or a desk I will walk over to the other end and keep touching it until it feels right, so it has to be balanced. It really sucks. I used to have problems with washing my hands but not really anymore, like let's say I'd touch grass or the dog or something then I'd have to wash my hands sometimes for long periods of time like an hour and sometimes longer until the germs felt like they were off. I don't deal with that anymore but everything has to be balanced, I do these rituals everyday and it has ruined my life all these years. I hate it. I hate myself because of it, sometimes I wanna end my life so I don't have to be tortured anymore.
But yeah besides that I have the worst life possible. Oh well. I used to cut and sometimes I want to still, I have eating problems too. But I'm not getting into that. Everything is wrong with me...

Hmm, maybe that's what I have. I don't really know what type of depression I have though. My moods change so quickly its not even funny. One minute I could be the happiest person in the world and the next minute I hate my life and want to die. And the littlest thing seems to tick me off. I really could use some help. I try to cope with it since I don't take anything to counteract it like writing-I do that to try to get my feelings out of my system and it helps sometimes, but not always. Sometimes I feel like my brain is gonna explode or I could be sitting here and in the next minute feel like I'm outside of my body looking at myself. Don't know if that makes sense to anyone. I am literally smothered in despair.

I also want you to know, Karly, that I think about you every day and pray for you and think about ways of finding some help with your depression...I wish I could figure out why your parents are in such denial about what you're going through (prolly don't want to shell out the bucks for treatment...), but I believe there's hope.
I care about you a lot, so don't give up. There are tons of Metallica albums you have to listen to yet.

Dammit 02-27-2003, 01:07 AM I have recently been diagnosed with depression. I'm on my 4th med right now. The Zoloft didn't do anything for me at all. The next one I had a bad reaction to. Now I'm on Celexa. It seems to be working pretty good so far.
They don't yet know what caused it...but my family has some ideas. If we are correct, I've had it almost 10 years and it has just been getting worse and worse and worse until I couldn't stand it anymore and I had a breakdown. It wasn't pretty, but I'm on meds and doing much better now.
The main thing is trying not to let the little things bother you. You have to learn to let things go.

AnaheimPMWitch 02-27-2003, 03:52 PM I've had depression before (not so bad that I need medication for it though) but right now I couldnt be happier
*PinkLady* 02-27-2003, 05:04 PM I go through periods when I'm pretty depressed, but I'm not really depressed all of the time.
pandora_spocks 02-28-2003, 01:59 AM I hate depression. I'm always depressed about something. :(
I feel like the Lisbon girls in The Virgin Suicides so much life ahead, but no life to lead.
Faith 02-28-2003, 03:15 AM I was diagnosed as clinically depressed when i was 15, but my grandmother thought the shrink was a "quack" so I never got any help with it. I used to cut myself all the time, I haven't in almost 2 years, but lately I have been wanting to again, but someone is always there to stop me.
All my friend say you'll feel better if you talk about it.. But honestly all I want is to be left alone when i get like that.
Ok I am done now
Fan of old shows 03-03-2003, 01:58 AM I Just get depressed about things. like i feel everyone im close to im losing. I just dont seem to see them or talk to them that much anymore, and i dont have many people im close to. the ones i am close to make me feel like i have something, and someone. If i had a gun, i probably would end my life just like that.
AllIWantIsYourClutch 03-03-2003, 02:03 AM It's really strange...I read in a magazine that 8% of all teens suffer from depression....that really doesn't seem like that many...

If you're talking about Seventeen, yeah, they really need to get their facts straight.... if not well then, that other magazine is wrong. I think it's a hell of a lot more than 8%

I don't know why a magazine minimizes the whole problem with teen depression. I would like to find the REAL number of teens suffering from it. I felt like the day I entered 7th grade years ago, Bingo, I had it, and I could NOT figure out what the hell was wrong with me...:(
