View Full Version : Don't you just HATE it when you go somewhere else and you gotta watch other local TV?
RainMan 02-26-2003, 12:18 AM I mean I like my local ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS, and WB (PBS is the same everywhere) but I hate it when I go to a different part of Iowa and gotta like figure out what their channels are and what's on syndication and get used to their logos and such I hated it.
I hated how the Simpsons were on at 3PM on FOX 28/40 instead of at 5 and 6 here in Des Moines.....god I hate Cedar Rapids......Regis and Kelly was on ABC instead of CBS and Jerry Springer was on NBC right after the today show and WB had Jenny Jones (which i love) on at 11am.....when it's on at 1am here in Des Moines, which I guess is kind of good.
Like in Cedar Rapids it was this:
KGAN 2 - CBS
KWWL 7 - NBC
ABC 9 (dunno the four letters)
WB 20 (dunno the four letters)
FOX 28/40 (Dunno the four letters but they share 2 channels cuz 40 used to be ABC back in the 90s and before....)
I couldn't stand it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's why I love my local channels.....I know when everything's on without even lookin at a TV guide!
Nate
Chad22 02-26-2003, 12:21 AM I Know what you mean. But the thing is, They usually have Better tv than Here
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 02-26-2003, 12:22 AM Yah it bugs me trying to figure out the stations. What worse is RADIO stations.
Cactus Jack 02-26-2003, 12:25 AM Yeah, I hate that too LOL
Mr. Shy Guy 02-26-2003, 12:26 AM Actully I like checking out other TV channels myself. But radio stations are a different story. When I go camping every summer in Upstate New York, it takes me and my dad like a half-hour to find something. lol

Every time I go out of town, it's hard to find the radio stations because I have no idea what they play and it doesn't help that some stations change their formats sometimes. By the time I leave town, I know the stations but that is too late.

You listen to that? I'm a 100.3 listener. And 98.3. And 93.3. Basically if it ends in a 3.

For that we have KYXY 96.5 and to be honest I absolutely cannot stand that station. When I was talking about opportunity costs here is a good example. My previous bus driver was very lenient when it came to behavior and we misbehaved a lot. She listened to 96.5 and the people on my bus last year couldn't stand it. We listened to Howard Stern on our walkmans instead.

fr00ti 02-26-2003, 12:50 AM yeah that always sucks cause i have to look for my CMT! I need my CMT!
Sitcomwriter 02-26-2003, 02:31 AM Personally I like that....
*PinkLady* 02-26-2003, 04:59 PM It doesn't bother me. Other local stations often show good shows at good times, unlike mine, which show stupid shows at good and bad times.
Radio stations - ugh. The only ones I can ever find play country, classical or 50's and 60's. I'll listen to pretty much anything BUT those types. Go figure.

lol it's an ABC show but some CBS stations show it. *shrug* When I went to Disneyworld with my family in Florida they were showing it on CBS and I thought I had the wrong station or something.
Jersey Girl 03-08-2003, 01:21 AM I don't really have a problem with that. We get several versions of the networks anyway.. for ABC I think we get NYC, Philly and Allentown. It's great, cause when I went on vacation to Puerto Rico and Florida and even on a cruise, they played the NYC channels of stuff, so it was very convenient. It's always annoying if you have sateliete (sp?) also. Then, you don't even get local channels, and everything is like channel 4032..gr
~Teddybear~ 03-08-2003, 12:34 PM I hate it when we are driving from Georgia to Nebraska and when we get ready to enter another county the radio stations change...
4starcashier 01-22-2008, 06:30 AM I thought I'd refresh this and also bring up that I hate how if you have satelite you don't get your "Local on the 8's" like you do with cable! THAT really grinds my gears since I'm obcessed with The Weather Channel lol!!!

I've lived with that for 7 years...I'm used to no local weather. But now that I have HDTV, I can get the local weather that's only on an HD channel.
Janice 01-22-2008, 11:47 PM Most have 'The Weather Channe'l on their computer. Mine is on my AOL Home Page. It's the exact same WC forecast as shown on tv, with the video my my local forecast. It's handy.
