What did everyone think? I thought it was pretty good but needs improvement. I wasn't bored watching it.
I plan on sticking with it for a while. I like the actors. The parents are good. The brother, cousin and aunt are funny too. They changed a few facts from the movie but that's to be expected.
Nia and the mother lost a lot of weight. They look great.
It's going to be on Sunday nights.

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I think I'm going to stick with it for a while, but only if I can remember about it on Sunday nights.

I liked it but it (of course) wasn't as good as the movie.

My grade: C+/C. I didn't care for it much at all. Lanie Kazan and Michael Constantine carried the entire show on their backs, and provided any of the funny humor. I love those two, but I hate Vardalos and her male co-star. Andrea Martin was quite funny also, but other than her, Michael and Lanie, the cast is non-energetic and bland. It doesn't develop well into a sitcom at all. The episode was OK overall, but the writing was a bit forced, and greeks/americans jokes getting a bit annoying already.

I liked it. I watched it last night. I think it'll be good. I'm gonna watch it until I get tired of it. I think it's weird that they got rid of Ian. And, it's weird that they're using Nia's real name in the series. I liked the movie.

I liked it, but it had a couple of problems. Remember in the movie, the father already bought the couple the house? Well, last night's episode, they didn't know that the father bought the house. In the movie, they already knew that and moved in. I think that this show would stick around for a few more seasons if it sticks to the story of the movie. But other than that, the first episode was great!

My Big Fat Greek Life was the highest rated show of the entire evening, beating out everything in it's timeslot. It received a 14.2/20 rating, and will likely come out in the top 20 highest rated shows of this week. But the audience response has been VERY mixed, and so has critical response. My guess is that when it moves to Sundays, it won't do as well. It goes to Sundays starting March 2nd. Becker moves to the 8:30 slot, although the mid-season shows Baby Bob and Charlie Lawrence have been rumored to take over the 8:30 slot later on.

I didn't think it was that bad, but I do agree it needs some improvement. I will try to remember to tune in though because I really liked the movie and hope the show will get better.

The series will likely rank in the top 10 neilson ratings next week actually. The ratings are really that high, and the network is really that nervous. The big question for last night's ratings is: Did Raymond get MBFGL their audience, or did it get the audience itself. That will determine was occurs on Sunday. It's airing after a non-sitcom, and airs before a non-family sitcom. My prediction is that it'll drop 15-20% from it's debut, with it ranking 2nd in it's timeslot behind NBC. That is my guess, because the general response to the show has been just so mixed. Becker will likely do it's usual job, not hurt or helped by MBFGL. I can see it picked up for another season just because of it's debut (although CBS isn't good with debuts. Look what happened to Bette and Welcome To New York two years ago...). But one thing I am noticing is that it's gonna be the same recycled jokes likely. In next week's episode, Nia ends up getting ownership of their restarant. It's like...didn't we see this coming?

I liked it, but like many of you think, it needs improvement. But most new shows get better with time and experience. I think it shows promise. I loved the movie and the tv show is quite different from the movie, but I still liked it and i plan to continue to watch it. Andrea Martin is a riot. She's my favorite.

I think the problem with the show is pretty obvious, Nia does not know how to write for tv. It is way different than writing for movies, you have different beats.

Andrea is one of my favoriite Comediennes. She had her own series on CBS in 1987 called "Roxie" a spin-off of Kate & Allie. She played Roxie a Program Director for a struggling New York Station but the series was cancelled after 2 episodes due to a bad timeslot for that year Wednesdays @ 8:00.

She is funny in anything she does

Andrea MArtin was the only highlight of this show for me. It had a few good lines here and there, but I didn't care for it.

I thought the pilot was good. Like all pilot episodes, it does show a need for improvement. Hopefully, this show will be given time find it's footing creatively.

LOL! That was so funny! HEY HEY HEY HEY!!! LOL!
This family reminds me of my family too. Well, at least the eating part. I am a part of a very BIG southern family and they think you aren't happy unless you're eating. If you aren't eating, you must be sad, and you need to eat. If you're happy, you celebrate by, you guessed it, eating. My family isn't all fat though. They just like to eat.

Lol...I'm from Arkansas, where are yall from? :D
Talking about big meals and stuff. My great grandmother raised 8 kids and didn't know how to cook for a few people. No, whenever granny cooked there would be enough biscuits, fried chicken, beans, and cornbread to feed a freakin' army! You never left granny's house hungry. That's for sure. On the movie when they were having the easter dinner and they had the buffet line with enough food for about 500 people, that totally reminded me of my family! Thanksgiving and Christmas everybody will just bring stuff to eat and set it up buffet style and we'd go through the line, then later, we'd do it all over again.
