Has anyone broken into your house before? Last night (or I should say this morning) around 2:15, I woke up and heard this scratching sound right outside my window. Then I heard the leaves rustling around and then I heard banging. I went into the main part of the house to see if anyone was up but no one was up, so I went back to bed and laid there a minute and heard it again. I looked over toward my window and saw the shadow of a person standing right outside! He was moving around, and I could hear him brushing through the leaves or something then he walked out of sight, away from the house. I was too freakin' scared to go get my dad. He didnt get in though. Well when I got home from class today, a guy I don't know stopped me on my way up the driveway to go inside and he asked if I lived there and I was like "yeah." And he told me that he lived just up the street and to keep an eye out because at 2:45, someone tried to break into his house! He said he looked around the corner toward the back door and saw the dude looking in the house and backed up out of sight. When he heard him trying to pop the lock, he rushed him and tried to catch him. The dude got away, but he had gotten the back door open before the guy saw him. I'm so scared. I won't be able to sleep tonight I know that.

Whoa! That's freaky! At least he didn't get in though. Do you or your neighbour have alarms in your homes in case it happens again? I don't think I'd be able to sleep after an incident like that, either.

That's really too bad he tried to break in- the nerve of some people, honestly...but it's good that he didn't get it!!! Hang in there. I'm sure you'll fall asleep. If not, drink some warm milk and eat a cookie. ;)

No. Hardly anyone has alarms in my neighborhood. It's a pretty nice neighborhood. It's in the country club. But my town is not too big and there isn't very much crime here at all! Some people don't even lock their doors all the time. I do because I came from a very bad neighborhood, but this just isn't something that happens alot in my town.

OMG...No nobody has ever tried to break into my house, and I sure hope they never do, but I am sorry, and I hope you can sleep, even though I prolly wouldn't be able to after and incident like that. :eek2:

That makes me mad!
I've worked so hard for everything I have and the thought that some wanker could just smash his way into my house and take it all makes me sick!
I have an alarm on my house and we have security lights aswell so I doubt that anyone would be daft enough to try his luck breaking in.
There have been a few occasions when I've been in the house alone at night (when my parents were away on holiday) and I have heard people outside. I have a big-ass, heavy, metal bar in my room and I'll swing it at any nyaff who steps foot in my property! I'm not a violent person but when anyone gets up in my face I won't hesitate to defend my $h!t!

OMG! I'm glad he didn't get in though. I'd be scared out of my mind if someone tried breaking in to my house. No one has ever tried to though I guess cause everyone around here knows my dad is psychotic. Perhaps, you should get some kind of protection like pepper spray or a gun or something.

I'm so happy for you that he didnt get in. That's my worst fear, someone getting in while I'm sleeping. *shivers* I know how bad it is to have someone break in. You feel violated...and you have a reason to be. If I were you (or you could force your dad to do this) I would sit there at night with a gun, because I know that's the only thing what would make me feel safe. I'm so sorry.

My thoughts exactly. I have this army knife my brother bought awhile back and I keep it near in case I need it. I'm paranoid, really. I'm not gonna let some loser break in and get away with it. That sucker is gonna bleed!

Actually my dad said that tonight when he found out about everything. He said he was bringing out the gun and it would be right beside the bed at all times. We have no small kids in the house so there's no big fear of having a gun out in the open being too dangerous. You know there's a popular sign people put on their houses here in the south, some of you southerners may know it. It's a sign that says "I don't dial 9-1-1." And it has this old granny holding a big shotgun. It's quite funny. I guess we need one.

It's awful that someone tried to break in, but PLEASE don't get a gun! That would really just make you more jumpy - and suppose the guy that broke in found it??? So many tragic accidents can happen when people get scared and buy a gun.

What did your dad say? If your neighbor saw this guy too, you should probably let the police know and they'll keep a lookout on the neighborhood. That should help you sleep better anyway.

The neighbor did call the police. They are gonna patrol the neighborhood for a while. But we already have a gun, but I doubt if my dad acutally uses it.

And here's a pic of the sign I was talking about. Only I couldn't find the one with the old granny holding the gun. Darn. I don't necessarily believe in this philosophy, just thought it was funny.

LOL! That's almost as funny as the granny sign! That's great. My dad just said he's looking into buying a security system this week. THANK GOD. I'll feel alot safer with one!
