View Full Version : Shows That You Want To Record Every Episode Of
AtlantaBravesFan29 02-24-2003, 05:00 PM I was wondering if anyone is taping every episode of any show that they enjoy. Right now I'm taping every episode of Happy Days on WGN and the Beverly Hillbillies on Sundays on WGN. Next show I plan on taping every show of is Three's Company. Because they might not been on TV again for a while.
So what shows are you planning on taping every episode of???

Any Star Trek Show (Started by dad back w/ the premiere of DS9, I have almost every Trek episode on tape - from TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY & ENT)

Frasier (The I Love Lucy of our era, rocks the house)
Happy Days (already pretty much complete, from TV Land & Hallmark)

Others I have more than 2 tapes/DVDs for:
The Simpsons
Beverly Hillbillies
Pokemon
The G-Block (Part of the Fox Report w/ Shepard Smith)
The Andy Griffith Show
I Love Lucy
The Lucy Show

Nanny Fine 02-24-2003, 05:42 PM The Nanny

Hey, do you know if Cartoon Network is skipping any episodes or skipped any so far? I finally had the willpower to stay up to midnight last night to watch it, and it was a school night. :( But yea, I think I'm going to start recording it next rotation.

The Nanny (lifetime)
The Golden Girls (lifetime) (almost done less than 50 eps to go)
Gilmore Girls
7th Heaven
Everwood
American Idol
Dawson's Creek

ER (Now that is a show that needs to come out on dvd!!!)
Family Afair
What I Like About You
American Dreams
Boomtown
See? This is a great hobby to have but can be expensive (buying so many blank tapes every month) and when you keep adding more shows to your want list to record, it starts to be a hassle.

I know this is late, but I don't really know. I never caught that many on FOX, so I don't know what the order is.
TVJunkie101 02-26-2003, 02:34 PM Although not directed towards me, in response to the Futurama question, I just checked, Cartoon Network seems to be airing them in order, and in production order. At least they're airing them in order now, so I don't know how long it will last, or if they have been doing this since starting to air it. They're currently in the first few episodes of Season 3.

Thanks a lot! I'll have to find out when they're starting out from episode 1 again so I can record it because I tried to watch it last night, but fell asleep on the sofa. It's annoying having it come on this late.

Do yourself a favor! Calculate how many eps you are going to put opn each tape (probably 4 if you'll get it in sp and 12 if you'll get it in slp) and then when the correct number ep comes on, just start getting it! Everytime I told myself I'd wait till ep #1, my show ends up being dropped or something of the like. I tried recording barney miller from tv land about 3 times, and just kept waiting till i could get it from ep one, then sept 11th happened and they took a bunch of eps out of rotation. Not that they will probably drop your toon on its second spin around, but you never know what will happen. Took one person to write a crappy letter and get an ep of Dexter's Lab pulled out of rotation. :(

With EP mode, I can fit 17 episodes of a show on there without commercials. :D Cartoon Network is in the 3rd Season now I think so they'll probably start off from episode 1 soon, but like you said, I'll just start recording like next week or so. It's not really that important if the eps are out of order since it's animated, but thanks for the advice though!
Hey, what about "Girls Club"? There were only 2 episodes made (Nov. 2002). It shouldn't be that difficult to complete the set!
I use a different method to tape my favorite classic shows. I try to avoid having to tape every single episode of a show because there's always the chance you might miss one somewhere along the way either because you might have forgotten at some point or you went out and didn't have time or the station might have skipped a few episodes along the way (like CTS did with "My Three Sons") or there's too many to keep track of ("Happy Days" checked in at 255 episodes. That's a lot of tape for one series.) And let's face it, with any series, no matter how great it is, not every episode can be a gem (like when the "Happy Days" gang visited a dude ranch). So what I try to do is divide my tapes into 2 formats.
1. A potpourri of shows all on one tape. On one tape I might have "The Brady Bunch", "The Honeymooners", and "Hogan's Heroes"; on another "The Flying Nun", "Family Affair", and "The Courtship Of Eddie's Father". It depends on what is out there and what is worth saving.
2. About 12-15 of my favorite episodes of one series on the same tape. I would do this if a local station like PRIME is running a marathon on a particular series where I'll try to squeeze every episode I can in one tape, or, more likely, I'll pick one show and choose between 15-30 of my favorite episodes from that series and put them on one tape. That way, when I go to watch it, I won't feel disappointed because I know that every episode on there is a winner! Here are the series that I've been able to save using this method:
The Partridge Family (2 tapes)
The Brady Bunch (2 tapes)
My Three Sons (3 tapes)
I Love Lucy
Sgt. Bilko/Phil Silvers
Andy Griffith
Dick Van Dyke
Beverly Hillbillies
Leave It To Beaver
Happy Days
David 03-01-2003, 03:26 PM Three's Company
8 Simple Rules
Full House
Step By Step
Happy Days
Charles in Charge
Reba
Cosby Show
What I Like About You
Although I whittled down my collection, I still have lots of "Get Smart" episodes from TV Land. I have a bunch of sgt. bilko episodes from TV Land, as well as "Hawaii Five-O" taped off of KDKA-TV Pittsburgh during the late 80s-mid 90s, as well as some WGN recordings. I've been taping "Perfect Strangers" occasionally now that it's on a daily basis. If someone aired "Mr. Belvedere" i'd tape that as well--the only episode of that i have is part 1 of the 2-part finale taped off of ABC. Also, I've taped "Gene Autry" & Lone Ranger" off of the Westerns channel over the course of several free preview periods.
I recently got into "Happy Days" & have been continually taping it off of WGN & TV Land. I hope to get all the "3rd Rock" episodes when they hit ABC Family, to add to the episodes I taped off of NBC. I also have selected episodes of Frasier recorded off on NBC.
I have almost every episode of "Zorro" w/ I taped off of Disney. Also I have pratically every "Abbott & Costello" from TV Land a couple of years ago. I have a couple of tapes of late 80s/early 90s Saturday Night Live. I have every single "NewsRadio" recorded off of A&E.
I'll probably tape "Wings" off of NAN. I already have some miscellaneous episodes recorded off of USA & NBC. It's been ages since I've seen "I Dream of Jeannie"--I may tape some episodes of that as well.

MacGyver. I'd love to tape it but no $$ for tapes :(
Oh it's sad to hear that :crying: I wish I had all the episodes of MacGyver too. I only have some like 80 episodes on tape. Knight Rider I would love but only have the first two seasons. And Charmed for some reason which I only have 3 episodes from 1999 I taped when Leo came into the picture. I'll start taping the 5th season now.
The only show I every had all the episodes to was Full House and that was like 8 years ago.
I Dream of Jeannie 03-22-2003, 01:02 PM I already have all of IDOJ on tape or I'd say that.
But I'd love to have every episode of Days of our Lives on tape, I know that'll probably never happen since there are 9522 episodes as of today, so if I could just have every episode from 93-02 on tape to go with my tapes that I have (I started taping in July of 02). But if I couldn't have that then I'd want all of 97. I'd really like 93-00 though. Anyway I'm going to stop rambling now. :D
