yesterday i wrecked my car on a road i had never been on before. most of the roads in my area have a speed limit of 40 so i figured this road was the same.. well i got to these big curves and all of sudden my car went off the road and i overcorrected when i got back on. i went into the other lane and i swerved back into mine but not quick enough because the front corner of a van ran into my back door.. it was horrible. glass shattered, the people were yelling, i didnt know what happened.. it just all happened so fast. the speed limit ended up being 35 .. so i was only five over.. but i cant get it out of my head. i thought i had killed the kids in the car but the mom was just overreacting. she yelled at me and accused me of being drunk which isnt true. it was a complete accident. i feel so horrible though. i feel like such a bad person now. but now i have no car, could have killed other people, could have killed myself, and i missed my yearbook party. thankfully i was wearing my seatbelt, otherwise i doubt id be here. the policemen were nice about it and said it was just an accident but i cant get the image of that lady screaming, accusing me of being drunk and hurting her kids. i just want to wake up from this nightmare.

I had a sort of similar experience in 1999. I was driving in the rain and my tires were bald. As my car was approaching the van, I started to brake. The car kept on going. The man was about to make a turn. I tried to swerve off to the side of the road, but it didn't work. My car hit his rear bumper, and I was scared for my sister and my 2 younger brothers who were all in the car. Thank God our seatbelts were on. Anyway, the next thing that happened was there was this big guy that came out of the van and bitched up a storm. He was "don't you know how to f'ing drive?" What the f is your f'ing problem? I was so pissed, I was turning my head to yell "Shut up" to him, but something overpowered me and I said "I am very sorry". Just then did his pissed off face melted and rationalle took over. He asked if we were okay and drove us to the Police station. For the next several weeks, I would relive the whole incident with the same impact through flashbacks as though it were happening again and again repeatedly. Eventually my insurance paid for his bumper which had a small dent. My car was bad in the front, but was fixable thanks to the local junkyard. It was something.

Also in May of 2001, something else happened to me. This was with my 2nd car, the 1980 Buick. On the way to work (Smith road to 127th), I was driving and when I was going up the hill, I noticed 4 headlights coming towards me. Either one person was passing someone, or they were drag racing. Anyway the car was coming at me rapidly. As it got closer and closer I noticed that he wasn't doing anything to avoid his race. As he got too close, I ran the car off the road and was driving in a ditch. In the ditch I could hear pops and bangs as I was bouncing around. As I was trying to keep the car under control, a telephone pole was coming towards me very quickly. I ran the car out of the ditch where I was like flying. When I got back on the road, the tail of the car screeched on the other side of the road. I was in shock like you wouldn't believe. My head and body were tingling, I was shaking like an epileptic, I was breathing like I never breathed before. I was a wreck. I checked and I didn't notice any damage to the car. I thanked God for protecting me and the vehicle. I then called the Police so a cop can inspect Smith road and try to avoid that kind of thing from happening again. If it had happened further down the road, my car would have been trapped sideways or would have rolled around comletely since the ditch is so narrow and steep as the road progresses. The cop was there for only one day. You see, the cops in the area I was driving fight over who runs what. DuPage said that Lemont (the city I work in) is responsible and Lemont said that DuPage was responsible. Anyway, that was what happened.

That sounds like a real knee-rattler and one heck of a close call. No wonder you're all shookup. Give it time and just take solice in the fact that no one was hurt. Also, it's nice that the police on the scene tried to calm the lady and console you.

Jeff....... I've come to the conclusion that now I have to drive slower. I almost hit the back of someone's car like 3 weeks ago. I was talking and yakking and the light turned red. When I put on my brakes they weren't responding fast enough. I burned rubber............. It really shook me up Jeff... Thank God nothing happened to you or to anyone else. From now on I'm going to remember the burnt rubber episode and I'm going to slow down.

Yeah when I wrecked my car in 2001 I was like horrified.....luckilly I didn't hurt anyone, but I didn't even damage the truck I hit.....It damaged my front end pretty bad cuz this was a big rig 2001 ford pickup truck....and of course I got the usual ticket for wreckless driving and for some reason the Woman and her son (Anthony Alliger), they were the richest farm-owners in Greene County, weren't upset at all. Yes, It was my fault cuz I fell asleep at the wheel.....My brother wasn't wearing a seatbelt but I was but it's like he didn't go thru the winshield or something. One thing I was hoping for when I crashed that, okay, whenever I open my car and the key is in the ignition.....the car will say "THE KEY IS IN THE IGNITION", if the car is on it will say "THE DOOR IS AJAR", and if you leave the headlights on and get out of the car it will say "THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON". I was hoping it would like damage the voice....IT STILL DOES IT WHEN I GET OUT OF MY CAR TO LOOK AT THE DAMAGE! Oh, and to top it all off, the accident occured at 7:30am, just about the same time the twin towers collapsed on September 11, 2001.

Luckilly we restored the car and I am driving it again....no more air conditioner though  Thank God I had a job or I wouldn't have a car cuz I had to pay my dad for the parts but the labor was free since my dad's a mechanic......Thanks dad:D

Yeah when I wrecked my car my dad didn't raise his voice or anything........he said "***** HAPPENS" but my mom was hugging me and saying are you all right a million times, which is normal cuz my mom cares about me and my brother.......I don't know why my dad wasn't upset........
