I OFTEN FELT THAT IF 'ALL IN THE FAMILY' CAME OUT AS A NEW SHOW TODAY IT WOULDNT LAST MORE THAN A FEW EPISODES.
THE TIMES WE LIVE IN TODAY ARE MUCH TOO P.C. THAT IT WOULD FORCIBLY BE PULLED OFF THE AIR.
COMMENTS?

It wouldnt work today. At the time things were different, All In The Family was considered Contaversial. Compared to todays TV it would look like Full House.

If All in the Family was made today, the dialogue would be written using contemporary terms and phrases. Many, if not all, of the issues are still relevant; there would also be new issues. The same basic premise could still be used (i.e., 2 generations with opposing points-of-view sharing a residence), although it would now seem hackneyed due to the numerous copycats over the years. Although...
If it never existed in 1971, there wouldn't be any AITF copycats. Therefore, AITF today would be an original show and...(Whoa! Head rush...gotta lie down.) :bonk:

really? i find that to be a odd comment. name one show today in which the lead character rants and raves against 'spics and spades' or features a miscarraige or menopause or impotence or neo-nazis painting swatchitkas (sp?) on peoples front doors.
just because the people on friends and will and grace run around yelling PENIS!and BITCH! and whatever the hell else they say. All in the Family managed to do all the above and remain a sophistacated show to boot.

It wouldn't last. It prob. would've been canceled after only a few eps. AITF didn't really take off when it first started. The show really started getting popular during the summer reruns. In today's times, if you don't shoot right through the ratings roof- you'll be gone before the 5th or 6th ep has aired.
