I'm female and from a female point of view, I liked Mary Ann better. Ginger may have been the movie star, but Mary Ann had the class. Well to me anyway.

I vote for Mary Ann! And, in polls done by Bob Denver and others, Mary Ann usually wins.

Well... there are two sides here. Mary Ann was more of the cute type while Ginger was the Glamorous type.

Definitely Mary Ann -

Ginger was very pretty during the run of the show, and as one poster correctly pointed out, Ginger was more "glamorous" while Mary Ann was cuter. They even had different body types, but I liked Mary Ann's much better ..:happyface

At any rate, I'd vote for Mary Ann any time for "Miss Castaway". She looked soooo good in those short shorts of hers...wow!

And, not only was MaryAnn prettier during the run of the show, she's still much prettier today as well

Both are very attractive women, but in terms of personality, it's Mary Ann all the way! "Ginger" was more of a manipulator - she would always flirt with the men when she wanted something from them. "Mary Ann" was a much more honest and caring person. In every "Ginger vs. Mary Ann" poll ever conducted, Mary Ann always win by a margin of about 5 to 1. Here's why:

Men want to date Ginger, but they want to marry Mary Ann.

Well when I used to see the show as a young girl, I loved Ginger. She was so glamorous. So I choose her.

Mary Ann 'cause she was more The Girl Next Door type.
btw:If you have ever been to Bob Denver's official site check
out the How To Make A Raft section, they did a poll and he
says that the majority wanted to see Gilligan sail away with
Mary Ann and NOT Ginger.:)

For the girls.I think they're both pretty in their own way!

I say neither because I know for a fact that there were much better looking women than those two. I wish there was another casteway on Gilligan's Island (besides the others) that looked like another Chrissy Snow (on Three's Company) that is young, female, has blonde hair, and big blue eyes with nice smooth legs!
The show would have been better . . .

With another girl that would be better, true!Like the blond girl that played Bunny in the pilot(Nancy Mc Carthy)! She had a Chrissy's look!I wonder why they didn't keep her?Yeah! They wanted seven castaways! For the fourth season, they were suppose to have two new girls to replace Ginger:crazy:

Outwardly, I would have to say Ginger, however Mary Ann had the true inner beauty that surpasses Ginger's beauty.

Ginger, her hair and make-up was always perfect. But Mary-Ann was pretty too.

Well... it's Mary Ann hands down... she had more personality than Ginger, of course. One thing I never understood... why did Mary Ann have so many different sets of clothes, but Ginger only had a few dresses...? Was it because Mary Ann made her own clothes?

Mary anne. Ginger had that frizzy hair goin on, she looked like dang Marge Simpson. And my vote is 2 cuz my best freind Tom (who hates GI) was over my house once and GI was on the TV, I asked him who was hoter (to check if I was just to picky with women) and he said Mary Anne.

Wait a minute...

I might agree that another Ginger would have worked out okay, but in no way could Dawn Wells/Mary Ann have been improved. I think that the Dawn Wells version of Mary Ann is still the most attractive woman in the history of TV! :D

Fleet... Mary Ann all the way!

There is, of course, no right or wrong answer to the age-old Ginger or Mary Ann question because it's a matter of personal opinion.
They were both very pretty women. In my opinion Mary Ann was cuter, but Ginger was sexier.
Ginger was dressed sexier for her role, but I think she was anyway. She was tall, built like a goddess with those long legs, etc.
Mary Ann was petite with short legs. Her figure didn't compare with Ginger's, in my opinion. She reminds me of Joyce Dewitt on Three's Company. Cute, sure, but not very sexy or certainly not as sexy as Ginger.
Tina Louise had a sultry, sexy face. I think Dawn Wells had a really pretty face, but didn't exude sexuality as Tina did.
It's sort of like trying to compare Marilyn Monroe with Sally Field...different types of beauty.

Mary Ann definately had the sexier body. Her figure was a true hour glass. While gingers was somewhat awkward and thin. Ginger always thought she had more than she did.....just my opinion.

This thread made me think of what Scherwood Schwartz said in one of the commentaries about there being a scene in a movie or something where two guys were arguing-----one was just saying ""Ginger" and the other one was answering "Mary Ann" and EVERYONE who saw it knew immediately what it was about with no context whatsoever. Just goes to show that just about everything about GI is an understood part of our culture now. Wow.

Hot, sexy, pretty, beautiful, and cute, I think those are the words to describe both Mary Ann and Ginger. I and my friends like Mary Ann better.

Musical video tribute to the lovely Tina Louise who so magnificently portrayed Ginger Grant in the hit TV series Gilligan's Island. Ginger's classic beauty and sexy appeal certainly left the male castaways dizzy a good part of the time. Background song is "Dizzy" performed by Tommy Roe.

Nothing against Mary Ann, but I pick Ginger.
