Which wife you like with Ted Knight?

If you watch both actresses who played his TV wife their character traits were similar. Both were voice of reason, understanding and supportive. Both women can sing. The episode on MTM when Georgette got to sing twice. On Too Close for Comfort Muriel got to sing several times. The character of Muriel was a band singer before she got married.

The one difference I saw was Muriel was far more intelligent than Georgette and can stand her ground when called to .

I picked Georgette.

Here is my answer. I liked both wives very well. Both of them were equally funny and can sing very well. If I had choice I lean toward Muriel Rush. She is far more intelligent than Georgette and is a woman who can stand on her own. Muriel does not build her world around Henry the way Georgette builds her world around Ted. When it comes to singing abilities Nancy Dussault will do circles around Georgia Engel. Another thing about Muriel I like is she has a career. Did Georgette have a career other than Rhoda's co-worker at the department store?

Yes. She worked at a car rental place, and I also remember her selling "Golden Girl" cosemetics at one point. I think once they got married, though, Ted was the breadwinner.

It was mainly a job whereas Muriel was a freelance photographer and a successful. There were many episodes on TCFC that it showed Muriel's success as a photographer. She even went on an expedition with a anthropologist who was very impressed with her work. One thing about Georgette I did admire was that she was good nature and very supportive of Ted.
