let me say that I was just disgusted at the way they tried to get revenge on Tina by portraying her in this movie, alright, it wasnt AS BAD as i thought, but bad enough! it was horrible! they should have called the movie "DAWN WELLS THE ANGEL AND TINA LOUISE THE BITCH" all she did was make herself look like little miss innocent and sat there and bashed Tina. every scene with the FAKE Tina they were completely bashing the actual Tina Louise! The actors werent very good and just about the ONLY good parts were the guy who played Jim, he soundes just like him, and the ending with the clips, that part was great! call me a bicth or whatever u like!! but there are plenty of people out there that would agree that this movie was nothing but a way to get back at Tina, and they complain she wouldnt do the movie, SHE WASNT EVEN OFFERED A SCRIPT! thats my opinion!!

I didn't think they were very hard on her, but I guess I wasn't studying it from any one perspective.

Tina L. permitted them to use footage of her, I imagine. I remember something about the brady bunch a long time ago, and Maureen M. would not permit them to use her likness so they had to computer disguise her face in every scene.

I feel bad for all of them though, never being able to live those characters down.
I can see how that would about ruin someones life. They pretty much became toys that people took out to play with when they wanted, but then what? I mean, all that on top of being stuck on that island for decades!!! <GGG>

They did make her seem a bit snooty (maybe she was, I don't know). But I don't think they were that bad. At the end, when they talked about what they're doing now, they mentioned her work to promote literacy and that she reads to kids. Sounds like she's a very nice lady!

Tinasmylife, you said you know someone who is friends with Tina. What is she like?

I have always wanted an autographed picture of her, and I was wondering if she would give me one. She is one of my favorite actresses, and I want her to know how much I appreciate her hard work on Gilligan's Island and all of her other movies. She did a great job portraying Eva Grubb on one of the episodes.

Tina is the best!

Some of the actors in the movie who were playing the GI regulars didn't look much like the real ones. The guy who played Jim Backus had too much hair for one thing. And the fella playing Alan Hale was (in reverse) too bald. As for Tina Louise's depiction well she was made out to be pretty bad a human being except in the last scene the actress playing her appeared in. But realize they were making a story and I guess the real Tina was as close to an antagonist as they ever came to have on the real GI set. Besides with the surreal way some authentic GI actors interacted with the movie ones they destroyed the illusion of reality and thus made it impossible to take the film (and Tina's mostly negative depiction) too seriously.

I think the actor who played Alan Hale looked alot like the originale, with less hair but,he gave very good performance anyway. The actor who played Jim Backus had his voice and did a good job too. It's must been really difficult to play M.Backus.The only thing that bugged me,it's the girl who played Dawn was too thin but,it's just my opinion. For Tina's fans:How do you know how she was back then, most of you weren't born yet and you never actually met the woman so,get a life will you?

How do you know we never met Tina? And all I said about the two male actors was the difference in hair. The should've put a wig on the actor playing Alan Hale.

I just said my opinion about the two actors,I didn't say
anything about your opinion,Ficlopri.Tina'smylife said
that she didn't met her in person and all I wanted to
say about Tina is that people change over the years,
may be she wasn't so nice back than that she suppose
to be today.Sherwood Schwarthz mentionned in his book
that she was very difficult on the set.If she was a real pro?
She wouldn't been such payne in the behind.

This is the movie they made about Gilligan's Island that I hate, because they were talking about how hard it was to work with Tina and downright bashing her! Well, I don't hate it, I just think it was a selfish attempt.

Rockapella, I believe this is the old Surviving Gilligan's Island post that was bumped up from forever ago...

I have read quotes from several people, including Bob Denver, Sherwood Schwartz, and others, ALL stating that Tina had a real prima donna complex. They all got along, there was nothing but respect among the other cast members, so why would they say such things about Tina if they weren't true?

Two excellent books on the subject: "Inside Gilligan's Island" by Sherwood Schwartz and "Gilligan, Maynard, and Me" by Bob Denver. Both are intelligent, rational men--so, frankly, I believe them.

I stand ready for the flaming...
