Has anyone else seen Tony Orlando`s new book? I think it`s called "Halfway To Heaven" or something like that. Anyway, I was in a large mall recently and found it and thumbed thru it. (Didn`t/ couldn`t afford to pick it up). In the book, there is a pretty good chunk of Freddie stories and pictures in it. Anyway, there were a couple things in it that I didn`t ever hear before. In his book, he said that Freddie had pointed a gun at his wife, perhaps unintentionally, and it scared her into leaving him. I was also shocked to Tony`s claim that Redd Foxx introduced Tony to cocaine. I didn`t think Redd did drugs. On a lighter note, I remember that it said Freddie knocked Tony out in a game of boxing. I`m not trying to bad-mouth Freddie or Redd here, I`ll always love them for the entertainment they braught us, but I just wanted to know if anyone has seen the book and their thaughts on it. It`s obvious in any case that Tony had a deep regard for Freddie, although, it seems I had heard that Tony had let him down. Tony had mentioned regretting putting off calling Freddie when he had thaught of it, just before Freddie was gone. Please don`t be upset with this post, I just want to share what I found, that`s all. Peace....

Hi Scott.... I don't believe Freddie did that to his wife. I haven't read the Tony book yet but, maybe when it's cheaper I'll buy it. I had heard about Redd turning Tony on to Cocaine before.

I think Tony is trying to blame others for his fall from grace back then. It's time he start blaming himself for his drug use!!!

No one put a gun to his head............

I put up on some thread on here scans of all the Freddie stuff & pics of Freddie from the book. If folks want to read it it's here somewhere on another thread. I was surprised to read that about Freddie & Redd. They don't seem like the sorts of people that would do that...

Am I understanding this correctly, did Freddie point a gun at Kathy his wife or at tony's wife?

I think he pointed it at his wife Kathy. If I'm wrong someone will correct me I know...

If I remember correctly, I think the book mentiioned that Freddie got one of his guns from Richard Pryor. I think they were at least good aquaintances. I`m sure Richard had no idea that Freddie would be gone in a short time.........

What is sad is Freddie had the guns for protection cuz he had gotten some death threats against his life. But sadly they ended his life...
