I recently bought Cheech & Chong's Up In Smike on DVD (I know that says a lot about my character..lol) and was watching a special commentary of the movie by Cheech Marin and the film's director Lou Adler....they made mention of James Komack approaching them in the early 70's when Cheech and Chong were still performing in comedy clubs and wanted to do a television sitcom based on their stage characters "Pedro and The Man".....needless to say they turned him down and a few years later Komack developed the show CATM.
It was an interesting little tid-bit I thought I'd share....and by the way....funny movie!!! :)

I think I might've seen that movie before yrs ago. Didn't know it had a CATM link tho...
