I know what I'd write about but it should be a topic that you personally can identify with or have a firm grasp of.
I dunno mate - think about a subject close to your heart and go with that.

Yep, pretty much whatever we want. Well, we have to avoid certain subjects.
Anyway, the things I enjoy don't really have resources. I have to have a certain number of books and articles and what not to refer to. I just need suggestions to get myself thinking. I'm not good at coming up with topics though.
Thanks for the advice though! I think I'll think a bit harder about the things I like. Hopefully I can come up with SOMETHING.

well, i had to write a paper about media violence and if it really effected children.. theres lot of resources (magazines and web papges.. a few books) and if you can voice your opion and stuff, i actually enjoyed writing it cause i could use sarcasim.

I'm in the process of writing a paper for English as well. The topic I chose was Hispanic Culture and Its Influence On America. We could basically choose any topic we wanted. A lot of people chose Child Abuse and that sort of thing. My advice would be to choose something that you are familiar with and something that you can handle. :)

Influence of music on our culture. Like, the types of categories of people it represents and is associated with such as punks, rockers, metalheads, teenyboppers, country and such.

The influence to prevent suicide. Some people can attest that music "saved" them.

What it does... the NEED to buy concert tickets, get backstage, buy multiple CDs, download on the internet, buy tshirts, pens, caps, notebooks, stickers, patches, posters and whatnot.

O-M-G.. that's not a term paper.. that's a damn book

I was thinking about some of the papers I've written (the ones I still remember that is). I wrote a 15 pager on Women's portrayals on TV shows. That was fun.

The three I'm writing now all suck. Yeah, I said 3.

Comedy, Satire, and Wit in Restoration and 18th century British Literature.

A 6 page paper on a book I didn't really read.

8 page on The Great Gatsby.

I have been out of school so long, I have completly forgotten what topics I used to write papers about.

If I were you, I would pick a topic that had to do with TV.

I know what you're going through Alex. I have a huge English paper due in mid-March myself. We had to pick a major British writer or work, had to pick a critic that analyzed that writer or work, then either say that we agree or diagree with one of their analyzations and why. It's such a pain, good luck. I picked 'And Then There Were None' by Agatha Christie. I havne't found any critics yet but since I've read it before, I figured it'd be easier. Maybe you can pick an author you liked or a book you liked (I wouldn't reccomend Moby Dick ;)) and do that?

Right now, I'm taking two English classes at school. Once you hit Junior Year, they don't have English 11, they give us semester classes on different topics.

Like last semester, I took Non Fiction Film & TV. This semester I'm taking Writing Communications and Modern World Literature. They have other choices too like Psych in Lit, American Currents, Brit Lit (which I am taking next year), World of Childhood (you read the Harry Potter books, how amazing is that?!?!) and such.

So for Modern World Lit, I have a paper on Love in the Time of Cholera due when we come back from vacation. For Writing Communcations, I have to write an SFD (****ty First Draft) on Cold. Anything about Cold, describing it, the feeling of, the coldest moment I've ever had. I love that class. Friday, we had a paper due on our shoe. We had to write 2 pgs on our shoe. That was brilliant.:D

well, you could always write about Gone with the Wind, There are so many books and websites about it...plus you could probarly do a page each for character analysis....might be an idea...
