View Full Version : If You Were In Charge Of CATM Merchandise ...
Adamantium 02-16-2003, 06:37 PM what would you sell? Here's My List:
With the popularity of wobble heads, I'd release
-Freddie Prinze as Chico wobble head.
-Jack Albertson as Ed wobble head.
-Scatman Crothers as Louie wobble head.
I'd also release every episode in season sets on DVD.
I'd release a model of Chico's van.
Anyone else with ideas?
Pitooey 02-16-2003, 09:02 PM Anything and everything on Freddie Prinze Sr. All his comedy skits that he appeared on like The Flip Wilson Show or Johnny Carson. Maybe if someone had his comedy from The Comedy Store (things like that). I would put them on DVD.
That movie he made The Million dollar rip off that no one could ever find.
I Love the Bobble head idea. That would be really great. The TV episodes on DVD. (The whole thing - Maybe with behind the scene stuff - maybe some bloopers too).
I am yearning for Freddie stuff. ;)
Luckymama58 02-16-2003, 09:46 PM I would just like to have his body (OMG What I just said! LOL) of work on DVD. There are hundreds of hours of stuff that he filmed that I would love to own. All the specials and other guest appearances he did as well as CATM, the TV movie and his HBO special. Someone out there is sitting on a gold mine if they have access to those tapes. I would spend a small fortune to own these.
One thing I wouldn't want to do, tho, is to exploit him, by overmerchandising him. His mother was afraid of that, and out of respect for her, I wouldn't want to see Freddie's memory cheapened in anyway.
Freddie I miss you more and more each day, it hurts. Come to me in my dreams and lay my mind at ease.
Prince 02-16-2003, 10:44 PM Hi,
I agree with you Luckymama...if only we could merchandise that incredible body of his. Those long lean legs, slim waist and great butt in those faded jeans...OMG. I would love to have all his specials, comedy routines and guest appearances plus the CATM shows all on DVD...and of course the movie!!! I dream come true.
Okay, whoever out there has all this stuff....cough it up and share...pleassssssssssssssssssssse!!!
Danisel331 02-17-2003, 04:33 AM Hi!
If I can jump in here, I saw something not too long ago that would be kinda cool. It was audio cds of movies, so why not of Chico? If for some reason you couldn't see all the shows on dvd (Which would be very cool, by the way!), at least you could hear them. Then you can play then out in your head.;)
Also, I think it would be cute, even kinda funny, to have a little dog with Freddie saying his line. Just an idea! :D
Cheryl Harrell 02-17-2003, 05:20 AM I would want everything folks have mentioned on here. MILLION DOLLAR RIP-OFF all his tv & movie apopearances etc. Videos of him in concert etc. I would want them to all be on VHS as well as DVD cuz we don't have a DVD player. Bobble head dolls would be great of Chico Ed, Louie, Mando & Mabel & Rev Bemis.
T-shirts! & They have to go to size 5X so us big folks can wear them. There would be regular style t-shirts & feminine ones with the rounded neck. Jean jackets (again in Plus Sizes) with Freddies picture on the back. Posters of Freddie. Books & magazine of him. A whole book on CATM. A biography on Freddie that treats his death in a good light. & Everything would be done tastely as Luckymama says in light of his mom not wanting his exploited.
Since you can't find t-shirts of him anywhere I made up some t-shirt transfers of him. I am posting some up on here. Feel Free to print them out on t-shirt transfers so you can have a t-shirt of him. It's the only way to have one of him...
How about a little garbage truck amd a reverand beemis and myklos the gypsy bobble heads and della wobble head
Pitooey 02-17-2003, 09:45 PM CATM characters like Miklos and others would also be a neat idea. I like that idea Joy. Thanks Cheryl for the neat T shirt design!
Cheryl Harrell 02-18-2003, 03:01 AM Great suggestions ya'll! Another idea is a CATM board game. A Freddie or Chico & Ed clock. A 3 ring binder with 3 big rings in it to use as a scrapbook of him. Sweatshirts of him & again in plus sizes...
This might sound dumb but maybe some hankies (either regular or paper) with his picture on them. That way if I get all weepy over him, I think it'd be comforting to see his pic on the hankie I was using. I know it sounds dumb but...

Danisel331 02-18-2003, 05:21 AM I had another brainstorm after I left. An audiobook of the book Ms Maria wrote. Either she or maybe Isaac, or even better, Freddie Jr could read the book for all to hear.
Also, a few tv shows have their own calendars now, so a calendar would be cool.
One other idea was a metal sign, you know like you see in old garages and gas stations. Just thought that would good and still have a connection to the mechanics. ;)
hue_mee 02-18-2003, 07:00 PM oooh! Great Idea Miss Dani!!
Cheryl Harrell 02-18-2003, 08:02 PM Great ideas! & Dani could be in charge of the calendars since she's so good at it! :)
Danisel331 02-19-2003, 05:23 AM Thanks!:)
I liked the scrapbook idea too! That would be neat.;)
Also a commerative figurine or collector's plate. That would be really nice to have.:)
Adamantium 02-20-2003, 01:39 AM To update my wobble head idea, I'd sell a special addition "Chico" in which he wears his clothes from the Pilot episode. That would be a hard to find item. The main Chico would be with the blue jeans and the light blue shirt he wears in almost every episode. For Ed, he'd come in three different versions. One with a red sweater, another with a green sweater, and the last one with the brownish sweater. Louie, only had one look, his garbage uniform he wore in almost every episode, with the cap.
I'd only release those three characters since they were the most popular.
I like everyone's ideas and in a perfect world, we'd be in charge of Chico and the Man merchandise. But as proven with almost everything in life . . . This is not a perfect world.
With the popularity of decorative flags I would like to see a flag for every month of Freddie and or CATM
Dani are you up for the challange of designing them?
Cheryl Harrell 02-24-2003, 02:26 PM Dani would do good on those...
I think it'd be neat to have little Chico dolls that are the right size to sleep with or cuddle. :)
Danisel331 02-25-2003, 04:29 AM Flags?! Now there's a challenge. I'll have to go into the workshop;) and see what develops.
Cheryl Harrell 02-25-2003, 07:14 AM Idea! :) I remember she once did a Puertorican flag wallpaper of Freddie. That's a real good start! :)
hue_mee 03-01-2003, 12:13 PM I have enjoyed all of the ideas everyone has suggested here!
Hey how about life size dolls! Hee hee! Imagine life size dolls of Chico, Mando, Ed, Louie, Reverend Bemis etc..... OK my imagine has got me in trouble here so I will quit will I am a head! I love the bobbing head dolls idea! Chico and the man and the Million Dollar Rip Off on DVD!
Cheryl Harrell 03-01-2003, 05:44 PM I would love to have a lifesize doll of Chico there was one up on the internet & I had the top bid on it but then we couldn't afford it so it went back up for auction & A stranger got it instead of someone from these boards. :( I saved some pics of it off the Ebay site. Here is one...
Rosalyz 03-08-2003, 03:29 AM ....This is 1975, and If I would have been a Mattel executive in that time, I would have made...
* A Freddie Doll with a little comb on the side of the inside of the box...you know, to comb his hair!...Him dressed on the typical blue jeans (tight ones), blue long sleeve shirt and black belt...and whe you scratch his chest, you can smell different perfumes, like Lapidus, Drakkar, Polo; and other good "Classics"... When you lick him, tastes like "tembleque"... Retail price $5.99
* A big stack of "dress to kill" clothes, like his red sweaters, formal suits including shoes (Like the ones in the "Judge episode")boxing clothes and red underwear (Also included tiger-pattern speedos)...Retail Price $2.99-$3.99
* A big gamma of accessories: Freddie's Stingray, The Freddie's bathtub, Freddie's Van (with space to fit him and a barbie), Ed Browns Garage (Ed sold separately)...Retail price $10.99-$25.99
*If you want to enter with style, why not with a beautiful "Chico and the Man Lunch-box" ( so you can hide your Freddie doll inside it, and play "the nasty" with him in the bathroom during lunch time ;) )...Retail price $5.99
Anyway, If I would have had that doll today, It will be hanging with the tiger-pattern speedos, right in Front of my office, yummy
:rotflmao: :woohoo:
