I think Valentine's Day is a stupid holiday that was invented by the card, candy, and flower companies. All it does is succeed in making people who don't have any significant others feel rotten. On Valentine's Day, I say a big, Ebeneezer Scrooge

There are several things wrong with valentines day:

1- O.k, we all know the true meaning behind christmas, even though sometimes it's overlooked, but no one even knows what st valentine did, for all we know he had nothing to do with love. No one knows why it's celebrated, it's all lost in the pink and red candied hearts and teddy bears. St. Nick himself may lose his sainthood, because nobody knows anything about him,apart from he gave gifts, but Jesus is also behind christmas too, but so many have forgot who Valentine was, that the holiday has no spiritual backbone.

2. Like christmas, valentines day was probably a small tradition, that some corporations, the media, and films took and somehow gradually mad eit bigger, until we have todays final product.

3. It's an excuse to party, and an excuse for business to reel in the dough.

4. People are under pressure, they feel if they don't buy something, their partner won't like them, when probably the partner feels the same way

5. Excuse for someone to get laid too, becuase girls are more susceptable to the whole valentines day, while boys know the routine, and that's it

Also, it stands for another thing I hate, when small things are corrupted!

Valentines day probably started as a small tradition, like christmas, in one small country, like Italy, then spread, which is ok, but then lots of people get carried away, companys reinvent it and skadoo! This new thing, and the original small traditions are lost. Just like old christmas traditions, like lighting a cadle or lamp outside the house to welcome christ, even though I don't atten mass that much, I think these things should be recognised. Coca Cola reinvented santa in a big way

Another example is when people who listen to rock or grunge wear their own uniform, but then one song just happens to catch the ear of a pop culture person, who pollutes the whole thing, next thing- 9 year olds in baggy jeans and chains doing the devil horns signs and claiming their grungers, when in fact they listen to someone like Britney most of the time, but just so happen to like some limp bizkit, who like Coke, ripped of a cult. This happens to everything. You think you got something exclusive then, voilá! It's snatched away and rolled up into a ball of glitter and confetti.

It is such an overrated holiday that really only benefits the card, chocolate and flower companies.

I like it when I have someone to share it with. Otherwise, it sucks.

Valentine's Day is the most evil day of the entire year. I much prefer Halloween.

Its nothing but an evil curse. EVERY YEAR something bad happens to me.

Myself and a couple of friends are having our annual "anti Valentine's Day" drinkfest. So if anyone wants to bemoan the single life, I'll be downtown at Tortilla Flats up to my eyeballs in margaritas.

Me me *raises Hand* I HATE THIS HOLIDAY I dont understand I mean you should be showering your loved ones with Love EVERYDAY not just on a special DAY the only GOOD thing about it for me is the Valentines Days Parties at work *laughs* the kids LAVISH us teachers with GIFTS and CANDY

if ya got someone to share it with, i'ts pretty cool.. but if not, it's just another day. I don't see no big reason for a hate-fest against it.. if that's so, mothers and fathers day was practically invented by the card companies to... i've never really had a big hate towards it.

I don't care for Valentine's Day at all....I treat it like any other day.
