I don't pay too much attention to what TV critics say about different TV shows. I like reading some reviews, like Matt Roush from TV Guide.com, but I never let them influence whether or not I watch a certain TV show.

I read a lot of reviews in the papers. My favorite reviewers often share my views on programming, so I guess that's why I like them. That's not to say I agree all of the time...
Since there are a half dozen papers here in NYC, you get so many opinions about shows - one guy loves a show while another guy hates it - so ultimately I make the decision.

But, if it was a reviewer I realllllly trusted, I would probably avoid a program he or she said wasn't worth watching...

Sometimes negative reviews make me want to see that show even more.

some critics can help a movie by saying scenes are to long. The problem I have with critics is this, those who criticize other peoples performances is because they couldn't do to themselves and marvel themselves as armchair quarterback know it alls of the craft of acting.unless they tried acting or writing or directing most critics should really keep the mouths shut.Critics nailed my fathers show the Nutt House and said it failed because of him and yet Mel brooks who was never around to supervise and give his talents layed in the hands of those who no nothing about comedy-Altough I will say this Alan Spencer who did sledge Hammer was great and consultant Leonard Stern of Get Smart helped out.The show wasn't bad it wasn't great if it was good it was because of the cast.My dad was great Cloris Leachman was annoying as usual.M.Hagan was great as was Mark Blankfield and Gregory Itzin.so critics can get very vengeful and mean and target certain people for whatever reason..The media also especially critics think they are in a position of power with the mighty pen can make or break careers.M.Roush is the best right now outside of my friend Mark Dwidziak of the Cleveland plains paper.Check out his website at the cleveland plains site.

I don't go by what critics say. They love the shows I hate and hate the shows I love.
