I hate that song with a passion. But of course, I know the dance. It was inevitable to live through the 90's without knowing it

I think the better question is...

If you could, would you admit it?

Spanish & English

Dale a tu cuerpo alegria Macarena
Give your body pleasure, Macarena
Que tu cuerpo es pa' darle alegria y cosa buena
Because your body is for giving it pleasure and good things
Dale a tu cuerpo alegria Macarena
Give your body pleasure, Macarena
Ehhhh, Macarena
Ehhhh, Macarena
Macarena tiene un novio que se llama
Macarena has a boyfriend whose name is
Que se llama de apellido Vitorino
Whose last name is Vitorino
Y en la jura de bandera del muchacho
And during his military swearing in
Se la dio con dos amigos
She got together with two of his friends
Macarena, Macarena, Macarena
Macarena, Macarena, Macarena
Que le gusta los veranos de Marbella
Who likes the summers of Marbella
Macarena, Macarena, Macarena
Macarena, Macarena, Macarena
Que le gusta la movida guerrilera
Who likes the guerrila lifestyle
Macarena suena con el Corte Ingles
Macarena dreams of the Corte Ingles (High-class dept. store)
Y se compra los mnodelos mas modernos
And she likes the most recent fashions
Le gustaria vivir en Nueva York
She'd like to live in New York
Y ligar un novio nuevo
And trap a new boyfriend

Don't ask how I got this. I could tell you but then I'd...well you know how it is! :D

*blushes* I've also dragged out my old tapes....

When I dance, they call me Macarena,
And the boys, they say 'que soy buena.'
They all love me, they can't have me,
So they all come and dance beside me.
Move with me, chant with me,
And if you're good, I'll take you home with me.

Verse 2:
Now don't you worry about my boyfriend,
The boy whose name is Vitorino.
Ha! Don't want him, couldn't stand him,
He was no good, so I... hooo! (Laughs)

(Spoken) Now, come on, what was I supposed to do? He was out of town. And his two friends were sooooooo fine.

Verse 3:
Come and find me, my name is Macarena.
Always at the party con las chicas que son buenas.
Come join me, dance with me,
And all you fellows chant along with me:

Oh, I hated that song from day 1. They would play it over and over and over again and that just gets so annoying.

You know the worst part?

We had a student assembly in 6th grade. The entire faculty got up on stage and did the macarena. It was just...wrong...to see my 60 plus, pushing 300 pounds librarian do the macarena *shudders*

Oh yeah, that happened at my school too. I think it was 7th grade. Yeah, I think it was. It wasn't the entire faculty, just a few teachers. Yeah, it's wrong.

There's this other song, I'm not sure if it's in the US, The Ketchup Song? It mixes englishes with a bit of spanish it seems and also the sound of someone trying to sing along to a film they've seen once but don't know the words. It's a macarena type song, annoying, but with a cult status among young girls to some extent, it was number 1 for ages
