Many singers/songwriters/preformers have or had their own shows, past and present. Some of them being sitcoms and comedy sketches. Can you name any singers that have/had their own shows? I have thought up a few ideas, and these are some of the ones that I've came up with, can you name anymore?

It was Patti LuPone, Tony Winner for Evita, who was on Life Goes On not Ida Lupino. It was ironic that her character did community theater. Many episodes featured her singing voice and she have a dynamic voice. One episode that stood out that had me in tears was when she discovered that she was pregnant. Libby, LuPone's character on the show, was sitting on the swing and the child that she had loss came back and asked her what it would had been liked to be part of the family. He asked her to sing to him. She sang a song from Peter Pan and it was very moving and emotionally powerful. Too bad they cut into the commercial.

I guess one can say the Flintstones. I'm sure Reed/Blanc/Pyl and the others did the singing on the show ( "Let the Sunshine In', and others ). Awhile back there was an actual Flintstones CD out with all the songs featured on the show.

same thing with the Simpsons.

Nope. They weren't singers who got a TV show, they had a TV show first.

Someone mentioned David Cassidy (for The Partridge Family), just wanna add Shirley Jones, too.

Irene Cara - Fame

Debbie Allen - Fame and Three Girls Three

Davy Jones - The Monkees

Dick Van Dyke - The Dick Van Dyke Show I'm not sure if this counts. He was in musicals (stage and screen), but wasn't a recording artist.

Jim Nabors - Gomer Pyle, USMC

Well, they did get some spinoff shows, like The Brady Bunch Hour (1977), The Brady Brides (1981), and The Bradys (1990).

If I were William Shatner, I'd pray that everyone would just as soon forget about that album. :barf:

I don't think Leonard Nimoy sang on his album. (Didn't he recite poetry or something?)

I thought Leonard Nimoy sang on his album, maybe he did poetry or spoken word songs. Anyway, both albums of William and Leonard's are highly collectable.

Michael McKean and David L. Lander of Laverne of Shirley made an album together in the mid 70's where they sang both original and older songs from the 50's and 60's. In fact, I have that album!!!
Also,I read that Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams made an album together around that same time where I think they sang mainly classic rock from the 50's

According to my music almanac, they had a hit in late 1976, singing their version of Connie Stevens' "Sixteen Reasons". They even recorded as the group "Laverne & Shirley"!
