Gefilte fish (The one where Fred thinks he's Jewish)

Then there was a nice moment at the end of an episode where Lamont said "You're Fred G. Sanford, and the G stands for the Greatest."

I have the whole 1st season and I dont see Fred explain what the G stands for but I see him say "My name is Fred Sanford, thats S A N F O R D period! does anyone know why?

I know he never said it, but maybe the G stands for GERHEART. As in Gerheart Popwell. "My friends call me 'pop' for short."
