Okay, we worked *hard* (lol) on this FF. It's a Raina one, we thought it would be interesting 'cos we realli don't see many Raina FFs. So here it goes, Childhood Memories.

"She's so beautiful" Eve said as she and Wanda walked down the hall of little Raina's classroom. "I know" Wanda responded and smiled. Raina was only 6 years of age. She wasn't the 'normal' child. She had no father. In fact, she had 2 mothers. Today was open house for the parents of the children at the Roosevelt Heights School. "This is it, Class B" Wanda said. Eve and Wanda walked inside, hand in hand. Raina's face lit up. "Mommy!! Eve!!" she said. The reason why she called her..other..mother 'Eve' is because..well..Eve was white, Wanda was black, and Raina was black. No you go figure. "Hello, you must be the Washington's. It's great to see you here" Raina's teacher, Mrs. Hunter, greeted Eve and Wanda. "I'm Raina's teacher, Mrs. Hunter, but the children call me Mrs. H. Raina is such a wonderful student." Eve smiled and Wanda shook her head. "She's such a charm"
At the other side of the classroom stood Raina and her friends Kyra, Jordan and Rosie. "Who are they?" Jordan questioned. "That's my moms" Raina responded. Rosie and Kyra chuckled. "Your moms?" they questioned. "Yeah." Raina responded. "Where's your dad?" Jordan asked. "I dunno." Raina said bluntly. "I don't have a father". Raina then saw her mothers walking towards her. She smiled so0o wide. "Raina, honey!" Wanda said giving Raina a HUGE hug. "Mommy! You came!" she said. "Hi honey!" Eve said. Raina let go of Wanda and went to hug Eve. "Eve!!" Jordan looked at Raina, then at Eve and Wanda. Eve smiled and bent down, "Who's this Raina?" "They are my friends. That's Jordan, Kyra and Rosie" she responded. "Nice to meet you guys" Eve said. "Where's Raina's father?" Jordan asked, curios to see two women standing there. Wanda, Eve and Mrs. Hunter looked at eachother.....

Mrs. Hunter: Well, umm, uhh...you know what? Umm...
Eve: *Puts her arm on Mrs. Hunter* That's ok. You know what Jordan? Raina doesn't really have a father. Instead, she's got two moms!Jordon: Well, how comes? Is she like more special or something?
Wanda: well...not really. You see, we, Eve and me, adopted Raina when she was really little.
Jordon: Yeah, but, how come she has two moms?
Wanda: Well, some people, instead of having a mommy and a daddy, have two mommies, or two daddies. It sounds confusing right now, but, I'm sure you'll understand when you grow up.

Jordon: *looks confused* Anyway, come on Raina, let me show you what I drew today!
Raina: Not before I show you mine!
Jordon: But, you always go first!
Raina: *gets mad* Well, fine, show me your first.

All of Raina's friends go to see Jordon's new painting. When they leave Wanda, Eve, and Mrs. Hunter breathed a sigh of relief.

Mrs. Hunter: Kids, you know? They're just so darn curious!
Eve and Wanda: *smile* Yeah.

But both Eve and Wanda knew that Mrs. Hunter wasn't too comfortable with them, and she wasn't doing a very good job at hiding it either.The rest of the night was spent looking at Raina's recent drawings and tests. When they finally got home it was late and Raina had fallen asleep in the car. Eve carried her upstairs. After Wanda and Eve had tucked Raina in and kissed her good night, they began to talk.

Eve: That was something, huh?
Wanda: Yeah. But, I don't blame the kid. Who wouldn't want to know where Raina's parents are right?
Eve: Is this, is this worth it?
Wanda: What are you talking about?
Eve: THIS! *raises her hands* Us, Raina, everything.Wanda: *Takes Eve's hands in hers* Of course it's worth it. Listen to me, there's always going to be people like Jordon, and Raina isn't going to be the only one that's asked those questions and given those looks. You need to either accept it, for Raina's sake, or just leave.
Eve: *sighs* I'm sorry, really. I don't what the hell got over me when I asked that. It's just that sometimes I worry about her Wanda. She doesn't even look like me! At least you're black. Sometimes, I just get jealous.
Wanda: *kisses her forehead* you have nothing to be jealous of. We both love Raina and she loves us.
Eve: Yeah. That's something you can really see.
Wanda: Did you see her eyes light up when we entered the room
Eve and Wanda start laughing.
Eve: Oh god, she is the cutest thing!

Wanda and Eve spend a little time looking over some of Raina's art work that they had taken home.

The next morning.....
Eve: Raina! You are not wearing that school.
Raina: How come?
Wanda: Because, you just aren't.
Raina: But you always told me to be individual.
Wanda: Honey, you cannot wear your pajamas with the little yellow ducks to school. Please, sweetie go change, your going to be late.
Raina: Fine mommy.

Wanda and Eve both drop Raina off at school. Before Raina had started school they had both decided that they would both take Raina to school and pick her up. When Raina got to school that day, she was feeling perkier than usual. Everything was going fine, until the bell announcing recess had just begun rang. J

ordan got up to talk to her.Wanda and Eve had sort of explained to Raina a long time ago that people would see as a different person because she had two mommies. But, Raina didn't really care. She didn't need a dad. She had Wanda and Eve and she loved them both the same.

Jordan: ******! You're such a ******!
Raina: Excuse me?
Jordan: You heard me, you're a ******.
Raina: It's not nice to call people such RUDE names.
Jordan: Yeah, well, when I got home my parents called your parents a lot of mean names! They don't like your parents and they said that people like them should be killed! And that they should've have adopted you because now you'll become ******** like them! ****** ****** ******!

All the kids joined Jordan in calling Raina a ******. They didn't know what the word "******" really meant, or why they were saying it, but since Jordan was doing it they joined it.

Raina: You be quiet! And do not call me such names! And don't you dare talk about my parents like that you stupid little square headed boy!

Raina ran off to the bathroom, tears rolling down her eyes.

Mrs. Hunter noticed something was..odd in her class. "Raina...where's Raina?!" Jordan rolled his eyes, "I think I might know." Mrs. Hunter went over to Jordan, "What do you mean?" Jordan felt nervous.."She..she..." Right then Raina came into the classroom with tears rolling down her cheeks, still, & her eyes all puffy..."Raina! What happened?" Mrs.Hunter questioned. Raina shook her head, "I hate having two moms..I hate it i hate hate hate it!" she stomped her feet and jumped up and down. Jordan snickered. "Calm down! Raina! What's going on?" Mrs. Hunter asked. "They called me names. They said people like my moms should be killed." Raina cried and ran out of the classroom. Mrs. Hunter was shocked....

uuhhh........what to write about...ok...

While Mrs. Hunter was trying to sort out everything Raina had said, she started to run after the little girl. But, she couldn't find her anywhere, in the halls, the bathroom, or the cafeteria. She went back to the classroom only to realize that the clock had now struck 2:09 and school was over. "Maybe Raina went home," she said to herself. "What was she talking about though...people like her moms...killed?" She suddenly got a flashback of Jordan snickering when Raina had thrown her tantrum. "Jordan," she said, with a look that showed no surprise. "That...boy."
Mrs. Hunter went home, thinking that Raina had done the same. But, at 2:40 she got a call from the school. Raina's parents had been waiting outside of school for Raina for almost half an hour. When Raina had failed to show up they went to talk to the principal. She heard Eve's voice on the other line.
"Where's Raina? Where is she?," Eve's quievering voice said. "She, omg, listen, Mrs. Washington, I'll be right down there to explain everything," said Mrs. Hunter. Before Eve got a chance to argue, she heard the receiver click.
"WELL?!," said Wanda. "I don't know, she said she's coming here to explain everything," said Eve. The two frantically paced back and forth for the next ten minutes waiting for Raina's teacher.
When Mrs. Hunter finally got there, she explained everything to the Washingtons. Then she told them about her theory with Jordan.
"Eve, she said she doesn't want two mommies?," Wanda said, looking confused. "We can't worry about that right now, we need to find Raina," said Eve.
Within the next minute, they had the whole SFPD searching for their little girl...

"We can't find her..." a police officer told Eve and Wanda. Wanda shook. "What do you mean?! You can't find her! You're the damn police, for cryin out loud! You're supposed to--" Eve sighed, "Wanda...shh...look...it's going to be okay...." Eve said. 'I hope...' she thought.

Raina wondered through the streets of San Francisco. She got a mischevious idea when she saw a bus riding down the street to the bus stop. "I can get on that bus...and get away from here...no one will even notice..probably not" she snuck on the bus behind an older man. The bus driver didn't even notice little Raina. She took a seat in the back. "Next stop....Los Angeles" the bus driver announced. This was no ordinary bus ride....

i like it! i'll post some after my eyes calm down. i just came back from the eye doctor and they're all dialated and my eye's playing tricks. the screen's moving...

When Raina woke up she had to cover her eyes from the blazing sun. She was in LA all right. As Raina was stepping out of the bus, she caught the driver's attention, after a 6 hour ride.

"Little girl, are you lost?," asked the bus driver.
"No. As a matter of fact, my aunt's coming here to pick me up. Yep, any minute now. I live down a couple of minutes away."

Although Raina did not appear nervous, the bus driver knew she was lying because when you're in LA you know not to wear so many layers. After Raina got off the bus he called the police to see if any children had been missing. They had just reported a child missing a couple of hours ago in San Fransisco. They put the driver on the line with the SFPD and within no time both Eve and Wanda, along with the search team that had been arranged for Raina were informed of Raina's whereabouts.

While all this was going on, little Raina was wandering the streets of downtown LA at 6 PM, by herself. This wasn't exactly the smartest thing to do. But she didn't care. She walked for an hour or two and finally reached a motel with a sign that read "VACANCY." It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in forever. But, it was only $20 a night, which was just what Raina could afford. Raina went inside, got a room, and went upstairs. The owner could've cared less because he was too focused on the strange woman talking to him.

Eve and Wanda had wanted to go with the SFPD when they went down to find Raina because they knew she would be scared. But the SFPD had said that it would be best if they stayed home, and waited. After threatening the police with calls to their lawyers and law suits, both Wanda and Eve finally gave up and decided to stay home and wait for them to bring Raina. They felt so helpless............

Raina sighed and sat on the bed. Dust came flying out all around her. "What..the.." was all she could think. Then it hit her. Why was she here? About 10 minutes later, she decided to lay down...

"Do you have any other information on Raina?" Eve questioned a police officer the next day. He shook his head. "Still no sign of her". Eve sighed heavily. "Im gonna go..Im going to go.." Eve said while going to get her coat and keys. Wanda went up and followed Eve, "what do you mean you're 'going'"?. Eve shook her head, "If these so called police officers can't find our daughter, than I will" The police man heard her, "Look, I don't think thats the best thing to do.." "And why not?" The police officer sighed. "It's our job, ma'am." Eve got mad. "It's your job, hm..? Then why isn't it getting anywhere." she said and left.

LOL. Thanks pal! You're good too. Sorry it took longer this time, I thought maybe someone could read. So we're the only ones. On with the writing....

After Eve stormed out on Wanda and the officer, Wanda went to go look for her. But she couldn't find her anywhere. She was probably at home, so Wanda decided to go home. But when she got there, she opened the door to an empty house. It looks like Eve hadn't even been there. "Where is she?" was all Wanda could think about. "Why don't I know where she is? I'm suppossed to know. Damn it!" She had gotten so angry that she hadn't noticed she knocked down a picture frame that fell to the ground and broke. She slowly took it from the floor and tried to puzzle the broken glass together. She stared at the picture for quite a while. It was a recent picture of her, Eve, and Raina. Wanda couldn't take it anymore. She threw the picture frame against the wall, shatterng the already broken glass into millions of tiny pieces. Then she broke down and began to sob.

Meanwhile Eve was at the bus station trying to see if anyone had any idea as to where her daughter was. She kept asking herself what kind of a mother she is if she doesn't know where her own child is. From the moment she and Wanda had adopted Raina they immediately became over protective of her, because they feared the exact situation that they were in. But all the protectiveness was useless now, Raina was lost, and the police had no clue where she was.

In LA Raina woke up, looked around the room, as if she didn't know where she was or how she got there.

"Mommy!" she began. After she got no reply she kept saying Mommy over and over again until she realized she was in los angeles, not san fransisco. She wanted to call Eve and Wanda so badly. But there was no phone in the motel. She took 50 cents out of her backpack and ran to find the nearest payphone. It took her a while to do this, considering the fact that nearly all of the payphones were broken. She finally found a working one and ran up to it. She put the quarters into the slot and began dialing her house, oblivious to the stares she was getting from the prostitutes and drug dealers.

Back in San Fransisco...Eve had gotten no where at the bus station and thought she could find Raina much faster with the help of Wanda. So, she decided to go home. When she went inside her house there was no time for Wanda's questions because the phone rang quickly.

Ring, Ring, Ring. Then the answering machine came on. "You've reached the Washingtons. We're not able to come to the phone right now. *pause* *giggle* Leave a message and we'll get back to you"

Wanda and Eve's heart broke when they heard Raina saying that greeting. They remembered the day the recorded that greeting...

All of a sudden it was Raina.

"MOMMY EVE! MOMMY WANDA!!!! IT'S RAINA! I'M SORRY I'VE BEEN GONE FOR....HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STOP IT! NOOO!!! STOP! HELP! MOMMY!!!!"

Wanda and Eve raced to the phone. Eve picked it up, but it was too late. Raina had already hung up. They both stood there, shaking uncontrollably...............
