In 1988 Joey Greene printed a book on Gilligan's Island. I think it was called The Gilligan's Island Handbook. It has been ten years since I owned this book. I remember how disjointed so much (especially the part about the show's early days was) of the book was. His book on the Partridge Family was equally disjointed (was Jack Cassidy in the PF pilot or not?). Anyone else remember Green's GIH book and how confusing it was?

I think he would admit that he is not much of a fan of those shows that he wrote about, it was probably an assignment his publisher gave him.

I borrowed the book and ithought it was a good book.I did not think it was confusing at all i thought the best part of it is the episode guide. Since Iborrowed it i have been looking for it in the stores but Iherd that it is out of print do you know where i can find it.

I have a book called "The Unofficial Gilligan's Island Handbook" by Joey Green so I'm guessing this is the one you refer to.
I mainly buy these books for the episode titles and the synopses. The synopses in this book are excellent. They tell all the key scenes in an episode. Very handy when looking for cuts that my old recordings have due to the butchering of TV stations. Bring on the season 2 dvd box set. Uncut (I pray) and in colour.

Edited to say I'm dropping the rating of the book by a star. Recently I discovered "Up At Bat" is a season 3 ep., and the book has it in season 2. :(

For for my rather long absence, been sidetracked.

I've got the book since3 first publishing, even bought it myself>:)

I actually quite like it, since it has plot holes such (under COMMENTS following most titles).

One gripe or two: No discussion ofg the various music directors or the writres and directors, and also a scene from MEET THE METOR's listed in COURT-MARTIAL.

Otherwise good book. But I can see how some may find it disjointed.I actually quite prefer this to his PF book,as the GI book has all kindcs of amusing plot hole notations and dissections of the castaways under SEX, POLITICS, and so forth.(Even Tina Louise, who's known for hating the show, has admitted that she worked quite enjoyably on such like the SIlvers one.)

I was lucky enough to pick up the version with "Court Martial" and "Meet the Meteor" correct. Interesting how similar the cover on the book is like the DVD season 1 cover art.
Joey might have a case. :)
