Remember the Ladies Crime Club ep? Nora Clavicle took over from Commissioner Gordon as Gotham City's Commissioner. She had two female sidekicks. These girls both always had togas and sandals on but Nora herself always wore a sort of dull 20th century ladies business suit and high heeled pumps. Why didn't Nora (at least privately) dress Roman style too? Was actress Barbara Rush possibly too humiliated to dress in toga and sandals also or did the script originally call for Nora all along to dress so plain?

That's a very good question and I wished I knew the answer to it. It really could've been either choice. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Barbara just refused to wear the toga outfit. I know everybody has read my comments about how weak the storylines were for season 3, but I also call season 3 the embarassment period. The show just dipped into these low kind of scenes and plot lines and basically some of the actors/actresses might have felt embarassed to do the scene. Take Adam West for an example. I think he was really embarassed by the Batman surfing episode. I think he talks about that in his book.

Like I said before, I don't know for sure. The script just could've called for her to wear the business suit.

The more I think about it the more I feel strongly that Barabara Rush actually looks like an upperclass ancient Roman lady.
