HUH?? If Erika Alexander is really older than Tempestt Bledsoe, then how come they made Pam so much younger than Vanessa in the show??

Yeah, I had no idea they were almost 4 years apart in age. But Erika playing someone quite a bit younger than her isn't out of the ordinary for shows. And I always thought Vanessa and Pam were the same age, with Vanessa being just a little older.

I would say Pam was made younger because since Rudy was too young for the "high school" stuff they needed a high schooler and that's why Pam was brought in when Vanessa left for college.
