About a minute ago, I couldn't access the message boards. Now I get back on and I see there are 16 users (more than half of them members). Did anybody else have trouble getting on here a minute or so ago?

It's been like that all day. One moment it's down, the next it's up. It's odd....

Ok, I need some help and maybe you can help me. Do you ever remember filling out the FAFSA? If yes, then can you tell me what you study for in your first year of college our of these choices? God, this thing is so long and tedious, so I hope I'm not bothering you.

You're getting ready for college too? It's a pain isn't it?! Sometimes I'm just like I don't want to do this right now. But I have to.

Yea, if I don't do it tonight, then I won't have the figures for our income cause we're shipping it off to out accounter tomorrow.

Chris, the answer to that is first bachelor's degree.

Got more? It's not a bother.

Thanks! And actually..............I do have another one, sorry! Ok, I'm on this question now.

Enter the total amount of the student's parents' income tax for 2002 (question 75):

IRS Form 1040-line 55;
1040A-line 36;
1040EZ-line 10; or
Telefile-line K(2).

Okay, so I'm on line 55 on Form 1040 now. And all I'm seeing is 0. I know that's not the number that's supposed to be there...or is it? I can't find this figure anywhere at all on this damn form. Is it supposed to be in the first couple of pages....or last? Okay, so it's not dirrectly FAFSA, but I can't go on without it answered. So basically anyone can help.

What does line 55 say? Does it say tax on qualified plans? IRA?

Oh, I got you asking your mom........:p Didn't mean to.

Seriously though, thanks a lot. You don't know how much this is helping me, and since I'm dumb, I can use all the help I can get, lol.

It says 'Subtract line 54 from line 44. If line 54 is more than line 44, enter 0.'

But 54 and 44 are both 0 too. Is there another part of this form.....like more lines for a second form?

It looks like that answer is supposed to be on line 7 on the front, that says wages, tips, blah blah blah

Damn IRS. Are you using a state form or federal? 'Cause state forms differ I guess.

I'm using the Federal. Confusing, isn't it? Okay, as for the tips and wages, it's blank, but on number 22, it says This is your total income. Maybe it's this one...or not.....

:p Mom's Fed form is at her office. But that sounds okay. I'll ask. She knows more about taxes than I do. Squirrels know more about taxes than I do.

Mom says you need Gross Income. Not Adjusted Gross, just gross. It's like the first line. They want to know what your parents made before taxes and stuff was taken out.

Yea, I don't want to bug you or your mom anymore, lol. I think I might have it though. I'm near the end in my booklet and there's something that says 'Taxable Income' and 'Total Tax' and had a four digit number. OK, can your income tax be this big or small......cause I think I'll just plug this number in, if it seems reasonable, and I promise I'll leave you two alone, ;).

You're not bugging me. Walden was bugging me. Horrible book. But Taxable Income sounds like Gross.

Ok, I'm just going to punch that in and see what I get. If it's wrong, then I can always sweet talk my way into the situtation and say I made a mistake. Okay, so tell your mom thanks for taking the time to help me. You too. ;) You rock. :D

Couldn't have done it without your help. I'm printing out a copy for myself now but also have to apply for a PIN number for me and my parents. :rolleyes: So it says I have to wait 1 - 5 days before they send it to me. BUt hey, at least the figures are all ready. I just need to enter the PIN's, when I get them, and submit. I wonder if there's anyone out there who actually enjoys doing this year after year. :rolleyes:

I only did it once. They said my parents made too much money. :p Perhaps they need to look at debts. Then I changed schools and tuition was cheap enough that I could pay for it out of my savings.
