I don't know if this topic's been up before, but Laci Peterson is the pregnant woman from California who has been missing since Christmas. Her baby is due today, and we still haven't found her. I just hope everyone's aware of this, cuz we all need to keep our eyes open! :wave:

I have the feeling that her husband had something to do with her disappearance. I don't know why exactly, but I just have that feeling.

Many people have that feeling - the guy had an affair on her while she was pregnant. He's a jerk, but it doesn't mean he's guilty.

i think her the husband either killed her or had her killed. he was having an affair, and a month after Laci is missing he sells her car and tries to sale their house

I definately think Scott Peterson had something to do with it and the fact that he won't answer alot of questions and wouldn't even let cameramen view the nursery or go beyond the front room of the house just raises more suspicion.

...and the fact that Scott Peterson refuses to take a polygraph test doesn't exactly make him look innocent either.

Scott Peterson's guilt is obvious. Why won't the guy take a polygraph? If I were innocent, I would want clear my name anyway possible.

He seems to be guilty about something to me.. like he's got something to hide. And he's a liar.. he's been saying stuff like how he made his affair public... no, the person he was having an affair with made it public.

I hope Laci is found. I wish her husband would admit everything he knows; even if he didn't kill or harm her, he probably knows what happened to her.

what ever came of the STUPID store clerk that supposedly saw her. how could anyone with even a hint of resposibility not call the authoritys when someone tells them they have been kidnapped. especially this day and age.

This story reminds me of a huge case here in Boston back in 1989. This jerk, Charles Stuart, went to Lamaze class with his wife Carol. She was 8 months pregnant.
On the way home, in the car, he shot and killed her and claimed they were attacked by a "black man".
Boston police combed the black neighborhoods and hauled in every black man they could. They really tried to blame it on one poor guy. There was a lot of racial unrest as a result.
When the husband knew they were closing in on him, he killed himself by jumping off a bridge. Good riddance.
Of course, the motive was the life insurance money, and of course, he had a girlfriend.
There's a Lifetime TV movie about it.

Yeah, I've seen that movie and also a documentary-type program as well on A&E or something. Bad.

I've also wondered if she might have been abducted for her unborn baby. That's not unheard of, to get newborn babies to sell on the black market.

I remember my parents talking about the Stuart case. There was also that guy in Reading, MA back in '97 (I think) who claimed his wife disappeared. Turned out, she was missing because he had killed her. Then there was that doctor who claimed a serial killer kiled his wife while they were out walking, but it was found out that he did it.

I don't even think that is true. That store clerk, whoever she is, was probably just trying to get attention for herself so she made up a story saying she saw Laci. It's very sad that people will stoop that low just to get attention but people have been known to do it. I mean come on, if a pregnant woman came up to me and said she had been kidnapped, the first thing I would do is tell someone. You don't just forget something like that.

Thats so sad. I also think that he did it.

I may be all alone here, but I don't know if the husband did it. My theory anyway is that he doesn't love his wife (he had an affair afterall) and he might not even miss her. It would explain a lot of how he's been acting, but it doesn't mean that he's a murderer.

I'm certainly not saying he's innocent, it's just that we can't send him to the gas chamber for acting suspicious. Look at all the evidence against the Ramseys, and they're still walking around free.

Investigators with the district attorney's office, which has charged Peterson with the murder of his eight-months pregnant wife Laci, said the van was found Friday. Lawyers for Scott Peterson (search) have hinted that members of a Satanic cult, and a brown van spotted in the couple's neighborhood, were behind the disappearance of the 27-year-old woman.

The van, its contents and the people associated with it were all checked and cleared, and the vehicle was sent to the state crime lab for further testing, the district attorney's office said.

Scott Peterson's defense team was allowed access to the van Tuesday to conduct its own investigation. Prosecutors said so far nothing significant had been found.

Prosecutors and defense lawyers in the Scott Peterson murder case were back in court Tuesday for civil proceedings over whether to release autopsy reports and other documents to the media.

The judge postponed his decision on the matter until Friday.

At issue is whether to unseal autopsy reports for Laci Peterson and her unborn son, Conner, as well as search-warrant papers and other official reports related to the case.

Several press outlets have argued for the release of the documents, which are normally part of the public record.

Both the defense and the prosecution, citing the need for a fair trial, initially wanted the papers to remain sealed. But after members of the defense team leaked portions of the autopsy reports to the media, the prosecution changed course — instead asking that the autopsy documents be made public in their entirety to prevent details from being taken out of context.

"We have a concern about the wrong information getting out from the autopsy report," said Deputy District Attorney John Goold in a brief news conference after Tuesday's proceedings.

The leaked information involved gruesome details, including the claim that the baby was found with a gash in the shoulder and tape around the neck. But some pathologists believe that damage likely occurred naturally, in the four months the body was underwater.

Scott Peterson, 30, is accused of murdering his wife, Laci, who was eight months pregnant with their son. He has pleaded not guilty but remains in jail without bail. The trial could be more than a year away.

Peterson and lead defense attorney Mark Geragos (search) were not in court Tuesday for the civil hearing. But another Peterson attorney, Matt Dalton, made a few cryptic comments as he walked away from the courtroom.

"There are facts here you don't know. They're very serious," he said. "I'm very concerned." The defense also said it was looking for shoes belonging to Laci, but didn't explain their significance.

The defense has publicly alluded to the case it's building, which is based on the theory that Laci was abducted and killed by members of a satanic cult — not by her husband.

The prosecution says that Peterson killed Laci sometime between Dec. 23 and Dec. 24. He reported her missing Dec. 24, saying he'd come back from a fishing trip to find her gone.

Her body and that of the unborn baby washed up on the shores of San Francisco Bay in April. Peterson was charged with killing them just before the bodies were identified as those of the missing woman and baby.

One of the more recent tidbits Peterson's defense team offered was that it was searching for a man named "Donnie," with no known address and a possible tie to illegal drugs, including methamphetamines.

Peterson's attorneys had said they were searching for a brown van reportedly spotted in the area when Laci disappeared on Christmas Eve. They said Donnie and others were linked to the van.

Just after the Donnie theory circulated in the press, another one supporting the prosecution's case cropped up — this one related to Peterson's fishing-trip alibi.

The murder suspect has said he was on a fishing trip on Dec. 24. But Fox News learned that on Dec. 23, the night he and Laci were last spotted together, he told his wife's sister, Amy, that he was going on a golf trip the next day.

Scott and Laci Peterson were last seen together at the Modesto (search) beauty parlor where Amy works. While his pregnant wife sat nearby and his sister-in-law cut his hair, Peterson told Amy that he had a golf tee time the following day, Christmas Eve, and volunteered to run an errand for her on his way home from the game.

He apparently did not mention any plans to go fishing.

Meanwhile, tensions escalated as battles over personal belongings continued last weekend between the Petersons and Laci's family, the Rochas. The latest squabble was apparently over Laci's wedding ring, which Scott Peterson wants back.

Scott Peterson and OJ had a tee time that was cancelled at the last minute when OJ was summoned on a lead into the "real killer" of his wife and Ron Goldman.

This "real killer" was last seen with a man named Donnie.

He likes snorting crystal meth and listening to death metal while cruising the town in a badass van and dreaming of women's shoes.

Donnie also goes by the name of Figment O. Imagination, Nye S. Utrye, and Graspenat Straws.

I didn't know what to think, until they arrested Scott Peterson with red hair and thousands of dollars in cash. This guy is SO guilty. I do think that many people just want to see someone pay for this awful crime. Hopefully we've got the right guy. We'll see, when this trial comes up.

Anyone else think it was funny that it's Winona Ryder's lawyer (Mark Geragos) who's defending Peterson? I definately think he took the case just for publicity.

Not one tear of sadness over the loss of his beautiful wife and son. It makes me so sick to think that this could happen. She was such a beautiful girl with a happy life ahead of her. I hope the truth will be revealed.

There is no doubt in my that Scott Peteson did kill his wife. I hope and pray that justice is served for Laci, Conner, and her whole family.

If I were on the jury I would not like to hear that!

Laci suffered a horrendous death. So did baby Connor. When i first heard this case - I thought " If I were a policewoman I would instantly suspect him only because his wife was pregnant". To top it all... Scott walked around like nothing happened :confused: I hope the jury comes back and says "GUILTY".

It's so sad. :( And terrible. I hate it so much when things like this happen. I've recently started to like the name Jonbenet, but it reminds me of when JonBenet Ramsey was murdered. Things like this happen too often. It's awful.

Scott Peterson is a very, very stupid man (among other things). I hope to God he gets the death penalty.

Scott's lawyer didn't want the case (at first) because he knows the truth. Then after he decided to take it.

His reputation isn't all that great as a lawyer. Maybe Scott should've gotten Johnny Cochran......... :lol: If the"Golf glove" doesn't fit....... You must acquit. :rotflmao:

What really makes me sad is seeing the pain in her mom's face. It is just so horrible like something in a horror movie. She was so happy to be having a baby grandson. I went to the laci peterson site. www.lacipeterson.com and there have been a bunch of people who have given their support to the family. My :heart: goes out to them.

Laci was a beautiful girl. I just don't understand why Scott just didn't get a divorce as oppose to killing her. It just doesn't make sense to me. There are just too many of these same type killings. I read it constantly in the papers. :confused:

MODESTO, Calif. — Another witness says he may have seen Laci Peterson walking her dog on the day her family reported her missing, the Modesto Bee reported Friday.

Modesto High School teacher Mike Chiavetta said he told police that he recalls seeing Scott and Laci Peterson's dog, McKenzie, around 10:45 a.m. as he played with his own dog in East La Loma Park -- approximately 30 minutes after another neighbor says she found the golden retriever with its muddy leash attached and returned it to the Petersons’ backyard, the Bee reported.

"It's a pretty distinctive dog,” Chiavetta, a neighbor of Peterson's, told the Bee, recalling McKenzie's long hair.

He wasn’t as sure about who was with the dog however, and told the paper that someone may have been walking the dog next to an orchard fence.

"I remember looking over, and, in my mind, I see a woman with a big white smock and black leggings,” he said to the Bee.

Peterson was last seen wearing black pants and a long-sleeved white blouse according to missing posters that were plastered all over the town and national media after her disappearance.

The Bee also reported that two other local residents say they are sure they saw a "very pregnant" woman, who they believe was Peterson, walking McKenzie on the morning of Dec. 24.

It was a sunny day and the park was full of people , Chiavetta told the Bee. Others who have reported Laci and McKenzie sightings also have remarked on the day’s clear weather.

Yet, according to the Bee, the the Western Regional Climate Center reported that while the weather is Modesto was clear on Dec. 22 and 23, mist set in on the evening of Dec. 23, and was around until at least Christmas day.

"I wish I could say, 'Yeah, I saw a pregnant woman in the park,'" Chiavetta told the Bee, but said he could not be certain.

MODESTO, Calif. — Murder suspect Scott Peterson (search), in a rare show of emotion, cried at the defense table Friday as a judge decided not to release the autopsy reports on his slain wife, Laci, and their unborn son to the public.





Peterson, who has pleaded not guilty to the double murder, has been derided publicly for not showing enough emotion over the deaths of Laci and Conner, whose bodies washed up on the shore of San Francisco Bay four months after the 8-months-pregnant woman vanished on Christmas Eve.

Prosecutors had asked last week that the autopsy results be unsealed after extensive news leaks of the autopsy results. Among the details reported were that loops of plastic were found around the fetus' neck and that there was a significant cut on the fetus' body.

Analysts said the autopsy results could be used to bolster a defense argument that Laci was kidnapped by a satanic cult.

Earlier Friday, Judge Girolami ruled that wiretapped tapes of Scott's phone conversations should be released to his lawyers. The prosecution will also receive copies of the tapes, except for accidentally recorded conversations between Scott and his lawyers. Girolami set a June 26 date to rule on defense motions regarding the wiretaps.

Scott Peterson's lawyers want the judge to toss out the results of two wiretaps that monitored thousands of his calls after his wife's disappearance.

During the court-approved wiretaps, the first of which began two weeks after Laci vanished, police logged 3,858 phone calls made to Scott, according to court papers.

A judge approved the wiretap of Scott's phone Jan. 10 after prosecutors showed there was probable cause to believe a crime was committed. They discontinued the surveillance Feb. 4 after it no longer produced results.

A second wiretap was started April 15 after the remains of a woman and fetus, later proven to be Laci and her unborn son, washed ashore.

The judge also rejected requests by more than 20 reporters that they be allowed to listen to portions of the wiretap which included their interviews with Scott.

Most of the journalists want those calls blocked from evidence under a state law that protects reporters from revealing unpublished work.

Girolami said he did not think journalists were entitled to any privilege protecting their phone calls. He did, however, delay the release of the tapes for 10 days so reporters could appeal the ruling.

Judge Girolami also declined to issue a gag order on lawyers to prevent evidence leaks in the case, but he could do so at a later date.

Prosecutors have said they support some form of a gag order, while defense lawyer Mark Geragos (search) said in court papers that he opposes any effort to curtail discussions about the case.

Scott's former lover, 28-year-old single mom and massage therapist Amber Frey (search), expected to be one of the key witnesses for the prosecution, filed court papers Wednesday opposing a gag order.

Frey contends the gag order would prevent her from defending herself from personal attacks.

"A gag order against Ms. Frey would render her helpless in the face of a continued onslaught of rumor and innuendo," Frey's lawyer Gloria Allred (search) said.

Hustler publisher Larry Flynt (search) is currently in hot pursuit of nude photos of Frey, which she says are unauthorized for publication. Frey says she did not know Scott was married when they were dating.

Scott, 30, has pleaded innocent to two counts of murder for allegedly killing his wife and their unborn son. Laci was 27 when she disappeared from the couple's Modesto, Calif., home on the day before Christmas.
