View Full Version : Why Didn't They Build Up Arnold's From Scratch After The Fire???

I am watching the episode where Arnold's catches on fire, and I was just wondering why they didn't just build it from scratch after the fire and everything. The interior could have been salvaged, there were primarily nothing that a little cleanup and a simple remodeling job would have done.
Any comments about this???

Most of the interior, as you mentioned, were only full of ashes. The boots were completely destroyed though.

Because it reality the change at Arnold's was a decision made the writers and possibly the network. They felt it would help ratings (I know ?????) and that drive-ins were dying by that time. That would of course be wrong since American Graffiti
was set in 1962 and prominently featured a drive in.
But it was a behind the scenes call. Basically if they wanted to leave Arnold's as it was, they'd have never had the fire to begin with.

I bet it would have gotten BETTER ratings if Chachi hadn't burned it down. I sure wish he hadn't.:(

I Dont. Dont get me wrong, the first was better, but i liked the 2nd one too.

Richie, Potsie, Ralph, Young Chachi, Joanie and The Fonz = Old Arnolds

The Fonz, Older Chachi, Older Joanie, Eugiene, Roger, Bobby, K.C, Jenny, Tommy and Flip = New Arnolds

You do have a point. I guess the new Arnolds did fit the 'New' gang better than it did with the Old School gang.

Well after the Rich and Ralph characters left all I can say is it felt real wierd "not" watching Happy Days with the new Arnolds as opposed to "not" watching it with the old Arnolds setup.

I liked the new Arnold's better than the old one! Does anyone have a pic of it? (just the room & no characters!) :) What is wrong w/Chachi?
