Many of us have been guilty of changing our screen name, myself included, but I think I found a solution to all the confusion that is brought by name changing.

I recently visited a board, I used to frequent, for the first time in several months. I noticed something different, it seems you can change your screen name, while avoiding the confusion it brings. I'll give you an example...http://www.soccergaming.tv/showthread.php?s=&threadid=60341

Notice how it looks very similar to the way things look around here? But there is one key difference... the name on the top. He can choose to change that to whatever, whenever he wants. In this case he decided to keep it the same. The name in the [] is his original sn.

I think this would be a welcome addition to the sitcomsonline community. What do you think TJ?

That's a terrific idea. I've long given up trying to keep up with who's who with all the name changes.
It's very frustrating. You start to know a person's online personality, and bingo, they have a new name.
I've disabled the signature feature because it's time consuming having all those graphics to scroll through while reading posts.
By doing so though, I've also lost the ability to identify a member who has changed their screen name.
I like the idea a lot.

Oh, I agree.

:lol: I've got the sig option on and I still get a few people confused. Unless the person comes right and says to me or posts something saying they changed their name, that's the only way I would now. Even then, I only remember a few people and I know some on a name to name basis and I would able to identify them even if they changed their name 5 or 6 times. I hope that made sense.

I think that is a really good idea. Alot of members like to Change their UN every once in a while and that would make it alot easier.

Yep, I've always wanted to know if there's a limit.

You don't have to ask TJ to change it you, yourself can. Like the text thats under it...

That seems to be a good idea. It probably would also help TJ out so he doesn't have to change everybody's name.

I agree those really long ones with 7 pics in them are annoying.

No, it's just fine, I don't think it is to long at all, you have 2 pics and some text. I don't think there is anything wrong with that. But now like 5 big pics would be too long. But I don't think that your siggy is that long. That's one thing that I get tired of hearing people complain about. How long everyone's siggies are. I understand if someone's siggy is like GIGANTIC but GMC's is not to long, JMO. I hope I didn't offend anyone, if I did just ignore what I said. I don't want to cause problems.:D

Yeah, just pm or email TJ and ask him to change your screen name. Welcome to the boards, btw. :)

I think it's a good idea.
I have noticed that a few poster that have changed names include a "formally known as..." in their signature or avatar, but since we can't ask every name changer to do this, this seems like a better way to keep track of everyone.

I like that idea too! :D
