There were great moments when Edith stood up to Archie:
1) When Mike and Gloria taught her about fair fighting and she went on and defied Archie's request. Archie did not know how to handle it so he leaves the house.

2) When Archie wanted her to quit her job at the Sunshine Home and she wouldn't. She was the one who slammed the door in Archie's face. That was great. I stood up and applauded that one.

3) When the ex-convict came over and fixed the kitchen sink. When Archie found out he wanted to call the place and had him not to come back. Edith took the phone from Archie and used the word "damnit." That was great.

4) When she slapped Archie in the face for betting on the horses. Archie was flabbergasted on that one.

Here's another one for you Brett as brought up about Louise. She stood up for Irene as well. She went there and told Archie that she was speaking when he tried to cut her off about as she was dealing with him on his behavior toward Irene shortly after she moved in the neighborhood.

Archie wanted to go to a basketball game on their 25th wedding anniversary; Edith insisted they go to Atlantic City as planned.

What about the episode where Archie cheats on the waitress??? Edith was very very upset about that, and she ran out of the door crying and told Archie, nothing was going to be the same anymore, then later on she forgives him for that, and then in the last season of AITF,the waitress comes back and applies for a job at Archie's bar and Archie tells her no,and Edith forgives her then as well

What about when Edith was going thru the Change?
"ARCHIE STIFLE!

What about when she cut off Archie after he said he did not want to take in Stephanie?

Then there was the time she lost her voice and defied Archie when he told her not to take Stephanie to the school to sing.

Stephanie: but Uncle Archie said we can't go.
Edith: (Moving her lips with no auido) So...... What?

I don't count that one as an act of defiance by Edith because it wasn't a conscious decision to rebel or assert herself. Edith's behavior [in that episode] was due to a physiological condition over which she had no control.

 At any rate, :happyface it was a riot! :rotflmao:
