I love it. I think it's a very catchy tune. I tape the shows and watch them commercial-free, but I never fast forward the opener. It psyches me up for the show.
I wonder who composed it? It really sounds like it could be a college song.
I like how they play variations of the theme throughout the show. Upbeat version for the lighter moments, and that slower sweet version for the emotional moments in the show. It's nice how they give us little bits of the tune throughout the show.
I like Coach's opener. It's nice to look at....as the camera pans across the artifacts that make up Hayden Fox's life. Trophies, photos, a magazine cover, a fishing pole....
Nice touch at the end how the music swells up as the camera moves upward, to the roaring cheer of the crowd to COACH.

I don't know about lyrics, but there was an episode where Hayden gets everyone at the Touchdown Club to sing the Minnesota State Fight Song.

Here's how it goes:

This may have been one of the episodes where Hayde and Christen were broken up.

I had to stick my two cents in, and mention that the closest we get to hearing words to the the Coach theme, is in the ep right after the breakup when Hayden meets up with Elaine, again. The dialogue is as follows:

Hayden: Everybody excited about our victory, today?!
Crowd: Yeah!!
Hayden: We like the Screaming Eagles?!
Crowd: Yeah!
Hayden: Well, then, let's sing the Screaming Eagles Fight Song, huh?!

Crowd: Yeah!

Hayden/Crowd: The Screaming Eagles take the field
Da ta da ta da never yield
Da ta da ta to vic-to-ry
Da ta da ta, Da ta da ta for you and me!

Then the scene dissolves.

Great stuff!

Hey Guys, for what it's worth, there was a Coach soundtrack released some years back. It had two versions of the main theme, plus some of the incidental music, and some of the songs that have been featured in the show such as "Shout", and "Bad to the Bone." Maybe it's still in print or can be found at ebay or something. Just a thought. Apparently many others felt that Coach had good music!

I too love the theme song and title sequence. One thing has bothered me, though - who is the little girl in the framed picture? Was that supposed to be Kelly as a girl, or maybe Christine?? :confused:

Here's my take of the theme, short version. Even the very beginning of the song that isn't sung has lyrics. Play it while singing it in your mind. Hayden would be proud!
