Today I've been getting these weird pop ups! (picture of them included as an attachment) They keep popping up today, like every hour and a half or every two hours. Does anyone get these?

i don't know what that means, but i'd download Pop-Up Stopper to keep that from happening.

I haven't recieved any of them yet.

Yeah, I think Ive gotten every one that's ever existed at least once. The one I hate the most is the hillbilly guy thats like "HEY! I SOLVED MY DEBT PROBLEMS WITH BLA BLA BLA!!!!!" It always scares the **** outta me. I mean if youre gonna have an ad please dont make it talk.

Sounds like some idiots trying to get you to download THEIR add killer, which is probably virus-infected...

I've never seen that ad before. I swear the only ad that pops up when I come on here is an ad for ebay.

This is a Windows XP problem that I also had. You can disable those popups which people use to spam by following the directions at this link:

Yup. As soon as I go to SO (not the boards), the EbaY thing pops up. I get pop-ups every once in a while- depends on what site Im @. I mostly get webcam ones, which are REALLY annoying.

I recommend you download the pop-up stopper, the pop-up stopper companion, and ad-aware. Yes, i use all 3 and i never get pop-ups unless i know the site itself is a pop-up in which case i click CTRL and click on the link at the same time. Pop-ups are evil and I HATE playing 'Kill the pop-ups!'. :wave:

Same here. I Didnt mind regular pop ups, But when they started making talking ones and ones that took up the whole screen making me have to push Ctrl alt and delete to close em, Thats when i got my Pop Up Stopper.

Ugh, I hate those talking and full screen ads. I kept getting those damn things last night. I have the POW ad killer. I hardly use it though. I only use it for the websites that have one ad after another. I hate it when you go into one board and everytime you click on something, a new pop up comes up. I used to go into a Burt Ward website that did that.

I recommend Ad-aware as well, new version comes out soon... Ad-aware gets rid of all the different spyware types on your computer.... Many Spyware Types can increase the amount of pop-ups...

Thanks TJ! I didn't start getting them until a few days ago (I had gotten them twice before, in the summer of 2002) so at first I thought I had a virus or something.

I hate the ones that talk they are so annoying

For anyone who gets the ebay ad when they come to SO, just set Chit Chat (Or any other board you visit first) in you're favorites and you'll never get that ebay pop up again. I've had Chit Chat on my favorites for a couple months and I havne't had a sinlge pop up from this site since then. I have never downlaoded a pop up blocker or anything either.
