Since we're on the topic of overrated TV shows and actors, who do you think is the most underrated sitcom actor and what is the most underrated sitcom?

I think Bob Newhart and his first two sitcoms are very underrated. He doesn't get a lot of recognition.

I think Barney Miller is the most underrated sitcom.

For sitcom actor, I'll say Jerry Van Dyke. His portrayal of Luther Van Dam was classic.

I agree about Bob Newhart. I only watched his first show, and I love it. Mr. Carlin kills me.

I think Here's Lucy in the most underrated sitcom.

The most underrated sitcom actor I think is Gale Gordon. For all the parts he played on various tv sitcoms he still doesn't get any recognition that he soley deserves.

Underrated show? I'll have to think about that.

<broken record>Anyway, I personally think Richard Dawson is an underrated actor. Everyone knows him from being a game show host, but he also did a lot of damn good acting, even outside Hogan's Heroes. Just my 2 cents.</br>

John McGinley from Scrubs is so underrated. He deserves an Emmy for playing Dr. Cox.

As for underrated shows, I think both Wings and NewsRadio never got the respect they deserved. I think they are both fine comedies and I can enjoy watching them over and over again.

I say that both "Alice" and "Kate and Allie" are underrated. "Alice" ran for nine seasons, staying in the top 30 for most of them. "Kate and Allie" won, I think, three emmys and ranked in the top ten for its first season. The most underrated actress, imo, is Lauren Tewes of "The Love Boat," she should have won some kind of award for her work as Cruise Director Julie McCoy, the role she played from 1977 to 1984.

Veronica's Closet was quite underrated, along with Suddenly Susan. The most underrated actor is probably Paul Lynde. He never found a good sitcom, but was gifted and talented.

Sitcom Actress:Christine Taylor.Everybody knows her as "Ben Stiller's Wife" but she had appeared in several sitcoms as well. She appeared in "Party Girl","Hey Dude",The Unaired Scott Baio sitcom "Rewind" and had a recurring role on "Friends".She also appeared in the 1st 2 "Brady Bunch" Movies.

Sitcom Actor:I agree with WingsFan.McGinley is the best part of "Scrubs".

Sitcom:"Party Girl" and "Townies" are 2 great shows that didn't get the attention they deserved.

Underrated Actor: David Schwimmer for Ross on Friends

i kno what ur thinking, how could anything on Friends be underrated. im not saying the show. cos thats def. not underrated. the only reason i said this is because Matthew Perry & Matt Le Blanc have both been nom. for Emmys, but what about David. hes just as good actor then the other 2.

Underrated Show: I dream of Jeannie.

David Schwimmer was nominated for his role in Friends during the 1st season (and possibly the 2nd season as well).

OK, back to the topic. My picks:

I agree that Bob Newhart and The Bob Newhart Show ('72-'78) are generally underrated.

I'll fourth you on that.

Here is another underrated sitcoms:
The New Dick Van Dyke Show - Those first two season were entertaining to watch, even though there were some recycled episodes from the original, and the cast was very good. The show was not given a fair shake on that.

Bridget Loves Bernie - A good show that was cancelled due to pressure from various groups. Today a show like that would have worked.

All Is Forgiven - Excellent sitcom with Bess Armstrong, Terence Knox, Carol Kane and David Alan Grier. Was not given a chance to develop. Better than these sitcoms that are out today.

The Bob Newhart Show and Newhart were very underrated sitcoms.

I second that, even though I've never seen but two episodes, and not the third season ones I wanted to see.

I think the most underrated actor is Norm MacDonald. For some reason, the majorityof people just don't get his humor.

Currently, the most underrated sitcom is Curb Your Enthusiasm. This show is just flatout funny.

I love this show too. Shades of Seinfeld everywhere. I think Larry David plays himself. I mean, I know he plays himself, but I don't think he acts--that's really the way he is.
The show is finally starting to gain recognition, especially with the Golden Globe win for Best Comedy a few weeks ago.
Larry David's acceptance speech was hilarious.

Another underrated actor--Chris Elliot. I look at him and laugh. His guest appearance on Raymond tonight was great. He's one of those funny talented guys who never really caught a break.
