View Full Version : When do you think 8 Simple Rules Will End???
*GoodMorningCalgary* 01-29-2003, 03:38 PM I'm not sure if someone posted this before or not. I didn't bother to check, but....
How many more seasons do you think this show will last??? Well considering the show is called "8 simple rules for dating my TEENAGE DAUGHTER" I have a feeling that it isn't gonna last long unless they do what they do on "That '70 Show" by not going by real time, cause those kids on that '70 show are practically the same age as they were when the show started. But My guess is......Season 5 will be the last one.
what do you think?
callmetootie 01-30-2003, 09:46 AM Season 3
PinkCutieK 01-30-2003, 01:31 PM i think about season 3-5 it'll stop cuz there's only so much u can do with the plot of the show...unless they make something really different happen, then who knows how long it could go on for!
callmetootie 01-30-2003, 01:39 PM As it stands, the show is using up all of the plot that they really can. Sooner or later, the show is really going to stumble though. John Ritter and Katey Segal are the best parts of the show, and they've been reduced to supporting characters. The pilot was something exciting, and the show looked like it could run about 5 years. But I see that the writers aren't really making as much of an effort. The writers come from basically everywhere. I see as though most of the writers were from the hilariously funny show The Geena Davis Show. However, 8SR is the complete opposite. It's not a matter of quality, but I'd see this show more as a WB kinda show . As I've said before this is a great comeback for John Ritter, but otherwise topsy-turvy. And now they are bringing in the evil things that mean they can't think of anything else...the guest stars!!!!!!! That isn't a good sign. Nick Carter? My god, I'd rather see Lil' Romeo! Stick to the relationship of the family...the show would be so much better. It has soooo much potential, and it needs to crawl away from the girls...and get together as a whole. John Ritter could be dancing around in a sailor suit, and I'd be happy if the show was about the family. Cheers!
Three'sCompanyrules 01-31-2003, 03:17 AM I think it will last at least five or six seasons or at least I hope so. This is a great show.
Maras 02-08-2003, 08:04 PM Due to the show's title, I don't think it can be on for a few years to make it to syndicatin. Due to how well the show is doing, it will probably get a second season, but I don't think they could do a 3rd season.
jklmn 02-08-2003, 08:55 PM I don't think it has anything to do with the title. They could just go back to "8 Simple Rules", and drop the rest when it reaches that point. If they can come up with some good stories, it won't matter what it's called. There's plenty of issues to deal with for each kid as they get older. I think it can go at least five years. Whenever it ends though, I hope they know in advance so they can end it properly instead of just getting cancelled.

Yeah I hate it when shows don't get a proper ending, even if its a show I don't like. cause It sucks that they go through all these years making all these episodes and then it just gets cancelled.
David 02-10-2003, 08:42 PM doesnt it need lik 4 or 5 years to be syndicated
David 02-10-2003, 08:43 PM i think it should go for 8 years...its the top sitcom on ABC
IanEck 03-26-2003, 12:11 PM I remember an interview with John Ritter awhile back, and he was saying (semi-jokingly, i think) that they plan to "reveal" one "rule" at the end of each season..so..logically, it could go eight. Which is a good thing :-).

well I think they've already used one. cause in the pilot when Kyle came to pick up Bridget, Paul said something like Your sure as hell not picking anything up. I can't remember exactly what iy was but it was something like that. But I'm pretty sure thats one of the rules
IanEck 03-26-2003, 12:33 PM Heh..now that I think about it, they've actually used two already, and I believe they were in the same episode. There was the one you mentioned "you'd better be making a delivery..cause you're sure as hell not picking anything up". And hasn't he also used the line "if you make her cry, i'll make you cry"? I think that's another of the "eight rules" isn't it?
I would think either four or five seasons.
MagicDust1488 04-01-2003, 02:59 PM I would go with probably five seasons!
Krisalicious 04-04-2003, 04:31 PM I think it will end when Bridget and Kerry aren't teenagers anymore, or when Kaley Cuoco and Amy Davidson start looking older. After all, Amy is 23 already and she's playing a 15 year old. But, the show is doing well so I'd say maybe five seasons.
