View Full Version : Ghosts. Post your stories and pics.
pandora_spocks 01-29-2003, 12:25 AM I've seen this done on another board and read awesome stories so I thought I would do it on this board.
Anyone got any interesting stories about ghost sightings? I have two pics of ghosts well at least they look like ghosts. I'll post'em when I can find them.
Here's my stories.
I am told that my room is haunted. When my parents were re-doing it while I was at school a really bizarre thing happened. They said that a chair they had place in the corner of the room moved to the other side of the room and neither of my parents moved it. I occasionally see weird things in my room like once I saw a white cloud of smoke in the corner of my eye or at least thats how it looked. And no i'm not on drugs.
Another thing is that my grandmother told me that her house was haunted. Like the ghost would play tricks on her and stuff. Move something from one place to the other. She told it off one day and never had anything happen again.
And when I was really little she took a photo of me in the living room and when it developed you can see this really weird purple thing going through me. I have this photo-if I can find it i'll post it. It's weird looking!
Fleet 01-29-2003, 12:56 AM For years, I wanted to say I saw a ghost or felt a ghostly presence, but I could not. But about 5 years ago I did.
I woke up during the night. I know I woke up because I check the time like I always do (11:40 PM) and I turn on the clock radio at a low volume. So I did both of those things and turned over to go back to sleep. About 30 seconds later, I actually felt a depression on the mattress. You know, like when somebody sits down on the edge of the bed. Of course no one was there.
I have a theory. That whole week, I was reading a book about the Titanic disaster and the ship hit that iceberg at 11:40 PM. Perhaps I was visited by a spirit from the Titanic?
I am not in the habit of making up ghost stories and I know I was awake and still when something sat on my bed! Who knows what it was; I'll probably never find out.
Czas na Zywiec 01-29-2003, 01:06 AM I'm a ghost and usually went to the local retirement home to scare up some fun. Well after that 5th freak heart attack, I learned that it just wasn't funny anymore. :eek3:
:joke:

Whoa! That is weird and you didn't get to see anything?
My mom grew up right across from a cemetary so she would wake up in the middle of the night and glance out her window and she said she would see dead people walking in her yard. The funny thing is she said they looked like the guys from the buffy episode called 'hush'. I'd hate to wake up and see something like that in my yard!

To tell you the truth, I was kind of scared to look around. I just kept my eyes closed. Now that I think about it, I guess I should have seen if there was any spirit(s) around. If it happens again, I will.
I've always wanted to take a few photos in a cemetery at night. There is one not far from where I live. And, although it is fenced in, there are a few parts where you can look over. So I can stand outside of it and take a few pics over the fence. That would be great if something appeared on film!
*ShortCake* 01-29-2003, 01:32 AM go to ghoststudy.com, its a nice site!! There is a message board & everything on there as well.

laceyinthesky 02-01-2003, 12:30 AM My great grandmother used to live (and died) in the house I'm living in. A few strange things have happened here, but I hate thinking about them when it's dark! lol! In fact I'm getting spooked already, so I'll post some stories when it's light outside.

White_Daisy 02-01-2003, 01:11 PM The town I live in is 10 mins away from the infamous Sleepy Hollow on road, but if you run through the woods, 5 mins.
Every Halloween, my friends and I would take the old path through the woods to Sleepy Hollow because they always have the best Halloween parties and it's easier to cut through the woods.
Now you all know about the Headless Horseman and such and while I've never seen him, it's pretty creepy at night. The road takes us through some pretty big landmarks from the legend like the place the Hessian died when his head was shot off and we cross the bridge that the Horseman cannot cross according to the legend. The road and the woods end at the graveyard (perfect ending, eh?) and then we just walk to town. No ghost stories yet except for the usual strange noises coming from the woods at night. But if I see the Hessian, I'll tell you guys.

That's pretty cool. Next time though take a camera in case you do run into him. My house is in the woods, and let me just say it's scary as hell at night! Especially, when you live a couple miles from a prison. When I was little I'd always get up in the middle of the night to get something to drink and I'd occasionally look out the window. I swear I saw somebody and thats why to this day I can't look out the window at night.

laceyinthesky 02-02-2003, 12:55 AM I said I'd tell a story.. I'm a little late.. but oh well! Anyway here's one for you all...
One day a couple of years ago I was in my room, pacing around talking on the phone. Anyway, I walked past my door which was open and saw something walk into the bathroom, which is right outside of my room. I thought nothing of it, shrugging it off to be the other person who was in the house. Anyway, after a minute or two I never saw the door shut or anyone walk out so I went to see what was going on.. only no one was there. Then I thought to myself that they might have just walked out quickly or something and I didn't see them. I was still confused, so I went to the back of my house where the other person was and asked them if they had just been walking around. They said no, that they'd been sitting in the same place watching tv for a while and hadn't got up in the past 20 minutes! Boy, was I freaked out! LOL.. I had them walk me back to my room. Strange, huh?

i always get chills in my room, yet i dont have a fan or anything on and i usually leave my computer on for days so it gets pretty warm in my room.
is it also a known fact that you can pickup voices from those who have passed through things like a radio or if you leave a microphone on and just let it record. i've read about people who have recorded stuff and when they go to playback they hear some strange stuff and people having conversations when there is no one else in the house.

Hollow 02-02-2003, 02:56 AM Heres a true story i got got off a website. its pretty scary.
First I'd like to thank you for giving those of us who need to, a site to record our stories on! Here's mine: My name is Tracy Sullivan I've had several experiences with ghostly "beings" starting back at age 5. I'm now 31 and the most recent, most violent sent me running from southern California. to northern California. I was living in Reseda Ca, renting a room in a house of a friend's ex-husband. I was having trouble sleeping ever since I moved in and related it to stress at the time. I was lucky enough to meet 2 people (a young man & a young man) whom I quickly became friends with. We all shared an interest in ghosts, ESP, and anything paranormal. One night we decided to go to a park at night, one that I had never been to and won't go to again. We drove as far as we could into the park but the gate was closed to cars so we parked in the cul-de-sac type road and started to walk to what my friends had said was a small stream towards the middle of the park. As we started to walk down a small hill, on a moonless night, it was very dark. I was in front about 15 feet of my 2 friends, and felt a tapping on my right shoulder. Turning around to see what Doug wanted (it hadn't felt like a woman's hand) I saw to my left a figure on a hill that looked like an American Indian scout or look out type person. And the fact that my friends were nowhere near me to tap me on the shoulder sent chills through me, but I kept walking. I was in good spirits (forgive the pun) and told myself that the ghost stories we shared were just playing games on my mind. The next part I hardly remember I was seeing what seemed to be a shadow moving in front of me. I started to look around for a light source that would be creating it and found none. I kept walking and the shadow grew larger and larger and was now looking more like a mass of blackness than a shadow and actually coming towards me. Needless to say my mind just wouldn't accept it as anything other than a shadow. The next thing that happened I wouldn't wish on my worst of enemies. I was "caught" by this blackness. I had taken a step forward and my foot never reached the ground, something had me by the throat, just my windpipe, and I couldn't breathe. My friends saw this and came running down the hill, stopped half way down with fright Doug yelled to Jill to go to the car and get it started for our get-a-way. He ran to me grabbed me and half dragging me half lifting me got me to the car, where Jill was standing dumb struck by what she saw. Before we had started down the hill we had teased her that her car needed a good washing, but now we really wished she had because covering her car were what appeared to be satanic symbols written in the dust and dirt. Doug yelled at her to hurry, I still hadn't been able to breathe and he was getting very scared. Finally we got into the car and drove as fast as possible to put as much space between us and the park. We finally pulled over and I got out to take my first real big breath of fresh air, and that's where I finally have a clearer memory again. Doug and Jill said that the whole time that we were driving I was talking, channeling, something about an old Indian woman. It scared them more than the experience at the park. And didn't stop until we got out of the car and Doug had put my hands into clean soil. We got back into the car and went to the nearest open restaurant to talk about what had happened and calm down. We still have no idea what really happened or what caused the events of the evening. When we went back to the car from the restaurant, feeling calmer hoping that our imaginations had gotten away from us we saw the symbols on the car and knew that it had happened. Not to mention that the next day I had bruises on my windpipe, exactly where I had felt them the night before! The next day Doug said he had a friend that exorcises evil entities, etc. and would have him check out my house for any lingering affects. Well his friend did come over and right under my bedroom window was a horrid smelling mud patch where nothing would grow. Much to the bewilderment of my landlord. He asked if Jill and I would leave them to" cleanse " the house. We went to the store and upon arriving back waited for the boys in front of the house in the car. Both of us were watching the house as if something were going to happen, realizing this we laughed at ourselves and then looked back at the house for any sign of the boys when we saw a bright flash of pinkish light over the house not once but twice! A few moments later the boys came from behind the house and told us they were successful. I asked how they knew that to which they replied" Did you see the flash of light over the house? "yes we answered," That was the ghost trying to come back after being cast away. I've put a protective spell on you and the house. She won't be coming back again." And she never did. If anyone else has any knowledge of this park in northern Reseda CA please post your story, I'd like to know we weren't the only ones to have an experience there. And if you live near there please don't go , at least alone, at night.

But everytime we get really close to the bridge, our hearts just start to race as if crossing the bridge is the only thing that can save us. Once we cross it, we're fine, but we keep looking behind us to see if we can see the Hessian.
I suppose seeing Lord of the Rings that night didn't help since all we kept thinking about were the Black Riders.
And Alex Mack does rock! It's on Noggin now, I have to find out the times though. That was such a good show.

Yeah, but when Sleepy Hollow, the movie, came out, it wasn't the best place to live. Considering that we were scared out of our minds and the town itself was having a riot because of the inaccuracies in the movie. :D

I'm too scared to use an ouija board...I have one but I won't use it again. At my birthday one year we played it and we all left the room and it was on a 7. I was the last one out. So it was like 12:00 so my sister's were in bed, they couldn't have moved it, or either could my parents. So, we were watching a movie. Nobody left the room. Ok, after the movie we wanted to play with it again...so we all went in...and it was moved to the "G". We put it in the box and in the closet, and I haven't touched it since.
O...QUESTION. Has NEbody tried that "Bloody Mary" thing? I can't get my friend's to do it with me. I tried it...but I wussed out halfway into it.

A Ouija Board is a board created to receives messages from ghosts, etc. Basically, a way to communicate with the dead. You can read more about it here (http://www.museumoftalkingboards.com/history.html).

Me too. And I read that you're not supposed to do it alone in your bedroom. :clears throat: I didn't do that. Oh, well I did, but nothing happened. Or did it? Ah, well if there is a spirit in here they seem nice 'cause they're not giving me grief. Although, I do feel the occasional tap on the shoulder why I'm sitting here at the computer late at night while I have my headphones on. I turn around, but no one is there. Maybe their trying to tell me to go to bed or something? lol. It's possible.
OMG! You read my mind about the 'Bloody Mary' thing. I've done this back in my old house. I'd turn off the lights, close the door and stare in the mirror. lol. That's frightening enough! lol j/k. Nothing happened that I can remember, but it was scary being the in bathroom in the dark. I have that book I think it's called 'More Scary Stories' and it has the 'Bloody Mary' story in it. I still get chills thinking of it.

That is a bit odd. I think I've read something a bit orbs and pole shapes of what could be spirits. I wish I remember where though. You can't catch them very well with a digital, but with a regular camera you can. :shrugs: I don't know.
Georgia's on my Mind, did you see the pics I posted? I'd sure like to know what's in my mom's pic and in my pic.
Polniaczek033 02-02-2003, 03:16 PM OMG. Last nite I wuz at mah friend Jessica's slumber party, and there was me, Jessica, Katie, Kassy, and Courtney. Kassy told us about that ghost Bloody Mary, and there was a mirror in Jess's room that was shaking, and omg, there where 5 of us, and we were so scared. Kassy got out a gospel music cd, we got the Bible, a cross necklace, and angel statue, and put it in the middle of a circle we were sitting in. I read from the Bible, we all held hands, and started praying. And Courtney is really emotional, so she threw up and went home. And we kept seeing Bloody Mary in the mirror. I am NOT lying! We were so flippin scared. then Kassy told us about her dad's friend that lives in Texas, and how he had friends over for a party, and found their heads hanging by rope attached to the ceiling, and found their bodies in the back yard. and the dog's head hanging from the ceiling and it's body in the yard. OMG. We had to call Jessica's boyfriend Chad to calm us down. And there was a stupid fly attacking me.

I know they freak me out too. When I'm in the bookstore at my local mall I pick up some ghost books and browse them. All the vampire, ghost books are next to the Wicca/Witchcraft section. :D

Okay, I found that book I was talking about. It's a good thing I remembered where it was.
'A Ghost in the Mirror'
This is a scary game that young people sometimes play--trying to conjure up a ghost in their bathroom mirror. Many don't believe that a ghost is going to appear. But they try to raise one anyway, for the fun and the excitement.
Some are willing to settle for any ghost, but others have a particular ghost in mind. One of these is a ghost named Mary Worth, who also is known as Mary Jane and Bloody Mary. She is the heroine of an old comic strip, but some say she actually was a witch who was hanged at the infamous witch trials in Salem, Massachusetts, in 1692.
Another of these ghosts is "La Llorona," the weeping woman who wanders the streets of cities and towns from Texas to California and throughout Mexico, looking for her lost child.
Still another is Mary Whales, a young woman who is supposed to have been killed in a car accident in Indianapolis, Indiana, about 1965. Her ghost is one of the 'vanishing-hitchhikers." It is said that again and again she thumbs a ride home in a passing car , then vanishes before she gets there.
Here is how the ghost hunters try to raise a ghost:
1. They find a quiet bathroom, then close the door, and turn off the lights.
2. While they stare at their face in the mirror, they repeat the ghost's name, usually forty-seven times, or a hundred times. If any ghost will do, they say "any ghost" in the place of the name. If they do manage to raise one, its face will slowly replace their face in the mirror.
Some say a ghost is likely to be angry at being disturbed. If it gets angry enough, they say, it will try to shatter the mirror and come right into the room. But a player can always turn on the lights and send the ghost back to where it came from. And when that happens, the game is over.
Well, that's it. Let me know if any 'does' try this.
I just came across this again. We need some video on this board. Anyway, does anyone remember seeing the ghost in the junkyard on the news? If not, go to the link below.

laceyinthesky 02-02-2003, 07:07 PM Another story from my house...
A few months ago, I was in the bathroom and I heard someone say "Lacey" so naturally I say to hang on a sec. A few seconds later I come out and no one is there, so I go find the other person in the house and asked what they wanted. They looked confused and said that they hadn't wanted anything. I said, "You didn't just say my name a minute ago?" And they say no. What's weird is, I wasn't just hearing things, I was talking to my boyfriend before I went into the bathroom and had sat the phone down, and he even heard someone say my name!

I would be freaked out if someone was calling my name and everyone I asked said that didn't say it.

Do things like that happen often? Or was it just that one time?

Cool. I hate the tapping on the shoulder thing I sometimes get late at night. It gets kind of annoying because when I look no one is there, but it doesn't bother me all that much.
Did you know that ghoststudy.com will pay $500,000 for proof of actual ghosts. I'm pretty sure I can prove that my photos are real especially now that my grandmother has passed on and the cemetary she's in is right across from her house so I know her spirit has to be in the house. I just couldn't do that though 'cause they would want to setup equipment and stuff in the house and it's my grandfathers. I don't think he'd go for that plus I don't really think I would wanna use my grandmother for a lousy buck. Would anyone do it though if they know they could prove it?
Hey fun! I can't believe I've never noticed this thread before!
Well anyway, my grandma's house is haunted. When I was a little kid, both my parents worked so during the summers I would stay with my grandma. There were lots of freaky things going on in her house. I truly believe there is a ghost in there, but he or she has never done anything bad, he/she just tries to freak us out. For instance, she had a toilet that flushed by itself. She would also go into the kitchen, when she and I were the only ones there, and all of the cabinet doors would be open, and she didn't open them, and I couldn't reach them...And in her bathroom, there was a window that looked out into the backyard and she had a swing in the backyard. Well, she and I would be sitting in the swing and sometimes when you looked at the window, there would be a face looking out, a faint grey looking face. Then other times, there wouldn't be anything. She tried to clean the window, thinking it may have been a weird looking smudge, (it didn't look like a smudge to me but rather someone standing inside looking out) but the face kept showing up. But you could only see it from outside. You could not see it from inside. Incidentally this is the same bathroom where the toilet flushed by itself. But perhaps the weirdest things that ever happened were in the bedroom I slept in. I remember two distinct things. Once, I remember being awakened by my bed shaking violently like someone was jumping on it. I shot up and turned on the light and it stopped. But the scarriest thing was once I was asleep and I woke up and heard someone breathing behind me. I figured it was my grandma checking on me so I turned over and all I saw was a black shadowy looking figure standing over me, like leaning over me. I screamed and my grandma ran into the room, so it obviously wasnt my grandma who was standing there. That messed me up for weeks. I refused to sleep anywhere but in my grandma's room on a pallet in the floor after that.
I have another one. I noticed everyone talking about the bloody mary thing. I have tried this ONCE. It worked and I will never do it again. Me and my best friend Ronnie were at his house one night and we decided to go into his bathroom and try the bloody mary thing. We had heard that it works better if you have a baby doll with you since she is supposedly looking for her baby. So I ran home (across the street) and grabbed one of my old dolls and brought it back. We looked at each other and were like are you sure about this? And we turned out the lights. He has a really big mirror in his bathroom. We couldn't see anything, so we decided to wait until our eyes adjusted so our eyes wouldn't play tricks on us. Well as soon as we could kind of see ourselves in the mirror we started repeating "Bloody Mary" over and over and over...Well it wasn't working. I told him it was stupid and went to leave, but he was like come on lets try again. So I stayed. He had the bright idea of saying her name and saying "we have your baby" after we would say her name. I was like, this is SO stupid, but I just stood there as he kept saying that over and over and sure enough, she apeared. It's like a movie almost. She just kind of fades up...but if you see this my advice is TURN ON THE LIGHT. We kept looking saying OH MY GOSH! OH GOD! And the longer you wait the clearer she gets. I swear I saw her. She was looking right into Ronnie's eyes and he threw the doll into the tub behind him and we heard this awful scratching sound like you hear when someone scratches a chalkboard and the mirror shook. By now, I had stopped looking at the mirror. My eyes were shut and I was latched onto ronnies arm screaming for him to turn on the light, but it was at the other side of the room and it was so dark he couldnt find it. I finally found the door and threw it open and ran out screaming and he turned on the light. His mom started yelling at us and she came in and saw me crying and was like what in the world? Ronnie just shrugged his shoulders, he didn't tell her, and then she went into the bathroom and told Ronnie to get his butt in there. We both went in and there was a big scratch, not a crack, down the middle of the mirror. If that was all in our head, then the imagination is a pretty powerful thing to make us both see the same thing and for that scratch to appear. I swear this all happened, and I will never again as long as I live try it again.
pandora_spocks 02-04-2003, 05:48 PM Wow! Those were two great stories! The Bloody Mary one is freaky! I remember when I was little my cousin Jennifer and I would try it, but I don't recall anything happening. That's pretty neat how you said you would see a face in the window. I watch 'Haunted History' a lot on the History channel and practically every story they tell has someone seeing a face in a window looking out. I, yet to see this and I never go any where anymore without a camera so if I do I'm gonna try and capture a pic because I would love to have one. I may one day just camp out nearby the cemetary down my street and see if I can get any action!
#1_Nancy_McKeon 02-05-2003, 03:47 AM Sorry about the double post
#1_Nancy_McKeon 02-05-2003, 03:48 AM Wow, you guys have good stories. Some are freaking, and I never check this board out until after 10 at night... The Bloody Mary thing has always kinda scared me. Although despite it always making me uneasy I have tried it several times and seen nothing. I'd like to keep it that way, personally.
I do have a couple of 'ghost' stories or just weird things that have happened.
Well over the summer we moved into a large house- five bedrooms. One bedroom having been converted from a garage had a safe in the ground that the owners hadn't left a code or anything, and it had carpet covering it. Anyway, that room was a room Jeanie, a friend of mine, and I were sharing. We had our computers set up next to eachother and one night I had my webcam up because an online friend and I had been video chatting and I glanced up at my camera and saw someone standing behind me (although since they were standing it cut the person off at the head)- thinking nothing of it since Jeanie's daughter would come and stand behind me from time to time I turned to say something to her and no one was there. Then I turned to Jeanie and asked if someone had just been standing there or if she had, and she was like no why? I told her, and she even found that kind of freaky. Also we had a lot of stuff on a shelf behind us(that was built into the wall) and from time to time when we'd be chatting stuff would just fall off and to the ground for no apparent reason. It got to the point I didn't want to be in that room by myself because I could just feel someone staring at me... Sometimes I thought it might just be someone looking into the windows beside me so I'd shut them but the feeling would stay. It was weird.
Another weird thing was when we moved in there was 9 of us living there. Jeanie, her two daughters, Jeanie's daughter's son, My Mom, her boyfriend, then my boyfriend, my brother, and me. (This house was HUGE..tri story) Anyway, one night like two days after we moved in all us kids , five of us, shut out all the lights when our parents were all asleep and played hide and go seek in the dark... We played around like two games, and then the third my brother hid down 4 steps on the first story against a wall where the door opens.... after we had all been found we turnedo n the lights and my brother was like "Who was that hiding by me?" NONE of us hid near him... But yet he felt someone come down and lay beside him like real close, but not one of us hid there... Our parents were asleep and Jeanie's daughter's son is was only five months old at the time and asleep also. That was freaky...
Another one from the same house... Jeanie's daughter came down stairs from her room one night and saw a lady in a white gown walk across our second living room on the bottom story of our house. Jeanie's daughter ran up stairs and told everyone. It was pretty freaky...
Last thing that is kinda weird... Everytime I took a picture of the hallway on the bottom story of the house leading toward my and Jeanie's room the walls would have a redish glow, and the walls were WHITE and NO red was anywhere around...and the lighting wasn't red either. It's freaky...different places in that house would either have a red or a greenish glow. I've taken lots of pictures in all kinds of different light and none had ever come out like that. Here I will post the picture of the hallway leading to my room... ( I'm not saying it IS anything, but Jeanie and I found it... different.) We no longer live in that house, but not for the ghost reasons.
pandora_spocks 02-05-2003, 04:15 AM Okay, now I'm scared. I shouldn't have read that so late at night. I know what you mean I always feel like I'm being watched, and it isn't my pictures on the wall either. Weird pic, do you have anymore of them? When you were in that room did you ever feel a really cold breeze come out of nowhere? I get that a lot, yet my room is always so warm.
I read somewhere that having a mirror facing directly across from a door is considered a portal into another world. Meaning whatever is on the otherside can come through.

I don't have any grandmothers left. :( My mom's mom died in late August and my dad's mom died shortly after that. I really didn't like my dad's mother she never liked me either and thats telling the truth, but my mom's mom loved me. I'd like to think that she's the one watching me. I have frequent dreams of her. The last one I had about her was when I was in her house and I looked up into the mirror and there she was-didn't say anything, just smiled. It was kinda nice.
Well as my sister said before in that huge 5 bedroom house...I felt someone brush up against me and lay down practically on my side...But I have desided to tell you my version of it...
Well one night say about 10 or 11 pm..We all desided to have a game hide and go seek..Well being a smart ass like I am I desided to hide in the most pridictable spot so I wouldn't have to be it..-lol-..Hey, I hate being it...Well anyway..My eyes had adjusted to the dark and I seen someone like a girl figure come by my side and lay down against me..Well I didn't want to give thier spot away so I desided to say hell with it and stayed silent..Well when everyone was found and I was the only one left....My sister [which was it at the time] came to me and tapped my shoulder and found me...Well when I got up that certian person of which was by my side was gone..So my curiousity striked and asked who was it up against me...They all denied being up against me and really..the people that I was living at the time were all a little chunky and this figure was slim from what I seen in the dark..This was before mine and my sisters roomate said she saw a woman in a white dress pass by the fire place..So yeah, I belive I encountered a ghostly experince..
Faith 02-06-2003, 05:49 AM Damn remind me never to read this at 1:50 in the morning again:eek: ..
