View Full Version : Weird thing about Three's Company
TVFactFan 01-28-2003, 06:42 PM This is one of my all time favorite shows but it was always something that puzzled me. How three working adults can always have problems paying the rent. Maybe they were working part-time instead of full-time. Three people sharing a apt should have no problems paying the rent which is why i never understood why there were storylines about not having the rent. Anyone agree?
Sean Snow 01-28-2003, 06:59 PM Jack worked part time until he graduated in spring 1980. Chrissy and Cindy were both secretaries and Janet was a florist. Even with the secretarial and florist job, they'd still have to pay for a lot of stuff - heat, water, air conditioning, food, etc.
They didn't have as much problems with the rent when Jack got the Bistro and Terri came along with her nursing job. I can see them having to occasionally not have enough money.

Well Jack should have not been living with Janet and Chrissy if he had no job or a part-time job. I would think financial assistance was needed and unemployed Jack wasn't the solution-LOL
TelevisionQueen 01-28-2003, 10:10 PM Well I mean, Janet was a florist, Chrissy was a secretary...they're not gonna' get much income off those two jobs.....lol ;)

He did have a job usually, but it was only part time so I would imagine he wouldn't get paid that much for it.
Unwanted Angel 01-29-2003, 09:41 AM They did it to make the show fun. Your not supposed to notice stuff like that lol
They were 3 adults with 3 less than adult jobs. I'm sure it was hard to keep up, especially in an apartment where it was 2 bedroom with spacious livingroom in Santa Monica.
maria1986 01-29-2003, 05:15 PM it is just a show......
orourkefan12 01-31-2003, 06:00 AM Well, tv is not 100% real life. It's like how does the people on "friends" afford those really rich apartments.

exactly! ;) :p
TALLguyinKY 02-01-2003, 06:09 AM Well, as for "Friends", Monica's apartment used to be her grandmother's, so I guess she just "inherited" it---who knows, maybe she had some inherited money to help pay it with?
Saphire210 03-13-2003, 02:39 PM Santa Monica is a pretty pricey area to live in. I know because I live in the L.A. area

Sounds like CHrissy and Janet should have chosen A roomate with a more stable job since the area was so pricey-LOL
Mr. Television 08-30-2003, 11:24 AM I believe the rent was $300 a month so each ones share was $100 a month.

I'm not sure if Jack had a job when Janet and chrissy took him in as their roomate.
