I can't believe it was the time slot that caused the ratings to fall in season 2. Was there any changes in the cast or just poor second season writing? If a show is number 7 the previous season, it was something that held the attention that season so i'm just curious to know the REAL reason why the ratings dropped.

The timeslot change was the reason the show's ratings dropped from #8 to out of the top 30. The show was up against CHiPs. It was part of a long line of ABC sitcoms that had been cancelled due to low ratings against CHiPs. I did not notice any differences between seasons.

No the Ropers was too-short-lived to be in syndication so the only way you can see it is to buy it from someone on the tape trading fourm.

The Ropers was in syndication, but it no longer airs in syndication. The show was rerun in the 80s and 90s, usually on weekends from what I've read. Same with Three's a Crowd.

I think it had to do with the Ropers only have a 6 epidoe tryout in season 1. Season 2 was a full season

....producing only SIX episodes as a 1979 spring "tryout" was Don Taffner's big mistake. If he knew the show was going to be an instant hit after "THREE'S COMPANY", he should have insisted that 13 be the "trial order" from ABC.

You can take the characters outta the show, but if you dump them on something else, that doesn't mean it's going to work. Look at FLO from Alice. God I hated her show. I wanted her back on Alice, where SHE BELONGED.

They were showing reruns of TC, then The Ropers and when the Ropers episodes ran its course, they then showed Three's a crowd. It was shown here locally, mostly the L.A. area and surrounding areas like ours that get local Los Angeles stations. But it was shown on ABC during the morning hour after 9 a.m. I remember it so well because I was and still am a huge TC fan.

Yeah I think I heard the same, it would be nice if TV LAND aired the first 3 seasons of 3 seasons of Three's Company, then the Ropers eps since it preimeired after TC's third season, and then after showing TC season 4 to 8, they could air Three;s a Crowd. Nice Cycle don;t you think?-lol

That would be awesome if they did that. I wish they would. It is a great idea. I would absolutley love it. They should strongly consider doing something like that in the future.
