A soap is short for a soap opera, a daytime show. It's full of drama and romance. They usually last an hour and come on Monday through Friday.

This is what a soap means to me (I'm a y/r watcher, but occasionally look in on ATWT, BB, and GL.)

A soap is, as mentioned a daytime show with romance and drama, but you gotta have a ton of other things, too.

* Secrets
* Characters accused of doing things they didn't do
* Unhappily married couples
* Divorced couples
* Characters who are unbelievably filthy rich
* Preganacies full of complications
* Teens who drink, get pregnant, talk back to their parents
* Usually a half-sister/brother in the family
* Kids are 5 years old one year and 17 the next
* Characters who get away with breaking the law over and over
* Mother/Father -in-law who hates the daughter/son-in-law
* Two businesses who are in heavy competition with eachother
* Someone getting pregnant and they don't know who the father is, although they have it narrowed down to two or three

....A soap is like real life, only worse! But more fun sometimes.:talk:

* Feuds between families
* Triangles, Triangles, Triangles
