View Full Version : Can Anyone Else Here Speak Fluent Spanish
Rebel Queen 1980 01-27-2003, 04:52 PM I was wondering if anyone else speak fluent Spanish,I 'm Hispanic
and I think's neat when others speak a language that I know how to speak,It makes feel me comfortable knowing that they
don't discriminate against Non-English Speakers.
*Marilyn Monroe* 01-27-2003, 05:30 PM Not yet. Maybe in a couple more years of Spanish classes.

I'm Hispanic too. I feel exactly the way you do. I speak some Spanish. I'm currently taking Spanish in school and I speak to my parents in Spanish sometimes so i'm not fluent yet. I'm almost there though. :D
DetectiveGriffin 01-27-2003, 07:45 PM I think I'm going to take up spanish again. I've studied so many languages, but spanish is so much more practical when living in the U.S.
If my friends decide to start up again with it, I've thought about having a "spanish chat" at my website for practice.

Czas na Zywiec 01-28-2003, 06:35 PM Fourth year here and I can read and write most anything. It's just when it comes to speaking is when I get nervous and start to go through graphs in my head, which takes a while, so it's not a very good thing. The worst problem is talking in the past. Should I use preterite or imperfect? I can never decide which tense to use and always get so confused.

I'm a big fan of Spanglish. I.E. adding "o" to the end of everything! Example-
Beef = El Beefo. (I even tried to conjugate that- Beefo, Beefas, Beefa, Beefamos, Beefan)

Preterite is a completed action in the past. Imperfect is an ongoing action in the past, like fairy tales for example would use Imperfect, while a once in a lifetime experience would be preterite. I jus always confuse the endings.
Preterite - AR verbs
é
aste
ó
amos
aron
Preterite - ER, IR verbs
í
iste
ió
imos
ieron
Imperfect - AR verbs
aba
abas
aba
abamos
aban
Imperfect - ER, IR verbs
ía
ías
ía
íamos
ían
Then there are a whole bunch of irregulars, but thats everywhere in Spanish. I know them when I right them down, like now, I just get messed up when talking to other people.
