The guy comes into the cubicle with a cup of coffee that he was thoughtful enough to get for his friend. He holds it up and asks his friend, "Want a cup?" The friend says, "No thanks, I'll get my own." The guy looks hurt, sniffs the cup of coffee, as if maybe it's erupting with a foul odor that he's too dumb to have noticed, and walks off in a kind of slouching posture. I feel bad for the guy. The friend should have said, "Sure, thanks!" And then he could go off to get his precious yuppified Gevalia without hurting his friend's feelings. Anyone else get that take from that commercial?

It could be a new ad or it's not national as I haven't seen it either. I've never heard of Gevalia coffee so that may explain it.
From the sounds of it, the rude guy was a snobby yuppie type who was above drinking regular coffee, so he makes the other guy look dumb or whatever.
Only cool people drink Gevalia type of thing.

It's yuppie coffee. The guy leaves the office. walks right by a fine coffee house with bags of aromatic coffee beans outside. He gets on a bus, goes home, and finally gets to drink a cup of his gevalia. All the while, a lady with a snobby accent has been talking to us, along with piano jazz style music playing in the background. They air the commercial often on TV Land and some others. You'll know it if you see it.

I've never seen the commercial but don't snub Gevalia coffee because of it. I have them deliver it to my house and it's really fantastic. They send free coffee and gifts from time to time as well.

Karly, seeing we're both from Massachusetts and we haven't seen it, I don't think the ad campaign is airing here. Different ads are aired on TV Land in different areas of the country.
My curiousity was peaked about Gevalia coffee so I went to their website. It's an elite coffee available only through their catalog, phone and internet sales.
I can imagine the commercial...sort of a "Do you have any Grey Poupon?" or "Please pass the jelly" (Polaner's All-Fruit). The wizards on Madison Ave use the snob appeal angle to sell products.
I buy bags of Dunkin' Donuts coffee. It's available in the supermarket now, but maybe I'll give this Gevalia java a try. ;)

The Gevalia coffee commercials are rather yuppie, but the coffee is pretty tasty. We used to get it delivered to our house a few years ago.
