Why do they do that? Are they trying to get the viewers to think it's an original? It's not. It's old. Syndication nor N&N never used to do that.. What was ILL's first cable channel?

I think N @ N. No, the openings aren't original, but the people tried to make them look so.

Even if they're not the originals, I still think they are cute.

What are you people talking about? Of course those openings are original. Yeah, they've modified them a bit to say "TVLand Presents" instead of Phillip Morris. And they haven't necessarily matched up the openings with the actual episodes they used to precede, but they ARE original I Love Lucy openings!

Yeah, I agree. They are cute!

I think TV Land wants to keep a certain image, therefore deleting the cigarette openings.

Somebody tell them not to monkey around with the classics, next thing you know Citizen Kane will be about his teddy bear!

I really don't care I think the episodes are still great.

I believe it has nothing to do with "image." They put the TVLand logo where the sponsor had been. TVLand does present the show at this point in time, so that placement is appropriate. Also, I believe (though I could be misremembering) that TVLand played an instrumental part in having these classic little cartoon openings restored. Restored, I might add, with the full blessings of Lucie and Desi, Jr.

I don't smoke so I have no idea if Phillip Morris still makes cigarettes. But that really does not matter. It is illegal to advertise cigarettes on television.

I wish they could of kept the openings the EXACT same but they are still original and good..:)

I think TV Land wants to make it look as if you were watching I Love Lucy the way they aired it in back in the 1950s, so the way they remaked it was by, restoring the opening credits with the original cartoon figures at the beginning of the show. But instead placing the advertisements with their logo. I think they did this to make it more enjoyable to watch the opening credits to I Love Lucy.

That is the original opening, but they changed it To TV Land presents. The one with the heart opening with the music was for syndication purposes, TV Land brought back the original cartoon episode. They even talked about it somewhere, I think it was some entertainment show or something.
