There is an article about Rue in "Star" this week (the one with Halle Berry on the front).

Apparently, Rue burned her face with some facial scrub, but went on to speak at an animal program. She talks about Estelle's health, and why there will be no GG reunion.

Check it out. I'll try and get more later.

Sounds interesting...but istn't "Star" a tabloid paper? Cause sometimes, they...well, aren't exactly telling the truth.

Haha, I picked up a copy this evening. They made a mistake in saying that Estelle suffers from Parkinsons and osteoporosis (instead of Alzheimers).

Basically, it says that she hadn't yet put her contacts in and she THOUGHT she was using facial mask, but had accidentally picked up the wrong container filled with a caustic cleanser, which seared her cheeks (the photo looks pretty painful). She's quoted as saying that she put body scrub on her face. I don't get it--why would body scrub burn your face?

I take tabloids with a grain of salt, but this would be an incredibly random and bizarre thing to just make up out of thin air, lol.

Katie --

Well, I didn't intend the story to be taken too seriously. I was at my parents for dinner and saw the magazine, so I flipped through it really quick. I skimmed the article, and thought more of what she said about Estelle and the show than her condition.

Also... according to "the" Estelle Getty website, her friend that updates it says it is Parkinsons -- or at least the doctors are treating it as such. Does she have both?

LOL, I don't think anything in Star is to be taken too seriously. But I figured for $1.98, it was something else to add to my Rue scrapbook, haha! I think they need better editors, though. I just don't see how a body scrub could be a caustic cleanser. ;)

Estelle does have both Parkinsons (similar) and Alzheimers. It was announced on Entertainment Tonight the summer before last that she has Alzheimers, unless they were incorrect. Estelle's website hasn't been updated in aaaaaaaaaaaages. Probably because Estelle's condition just continues to deteriorate, so the webmaster probably figures that it's better not to report anything than to just report bad news, I guess.
