One day while wondering around the CBS Television City, Anissa Jones, "Buffy" on Family Affair had the thrill of her life. She met the castaways from Gilligan's Island. Not someone who was easily impressed, Anissa was impressed by these actors, and more particularly by one particular actor.

I have been lucky enough to have occassion to meet some of Anissa's friends and family. They have told me of one of her truly memorable days as an actress. Meeting the cast of Gilligan's Island. She was impressed that most of the cast were strictly professional. Two, however, stood out. Bob Denver impressed Anissa as very shy and smart. Much like she was. But the strongest impression that day was made by Alan Hale, Jr. Les Kaufman, the publicity man for Fedderson Productions, introduced Anissa to all her fellow actors. Les Kaufman, was more than a publicity man, he was also one of Anissa's best friends. One of Anissa and her brother Paul's favorite sayings about Les was, "Les is more". They signed all of their letters and cards with their personal salutation to their mentor and friend, and honorary "father". Anissa and Paul spent most of their childhood without a father, Les a kind gentle man, borrowed time from his family and shared it with Anissa and Paul, who he also viewed as his children. He loved them. I will always treasure pictures of Les rough-housing with Anissa and Paul Jones like any real father would.

While meeting the cast of Gilligan's Island, Alan grabbed Anissa in his arms and gave her a hug. A hug that only this kind gentle bear could offer. Love and affection were Alan's greatest gifts which he was more than willing to share with other people, especially children. In a moment of confidence, Anissa confided in her mother, Paula Jones, that it was the best hug and kiss she had ever gotten, and which she would never forget.

I have created a couple of websites in Anissa Jones's memory. Please feel free to visit them and offer your comments;
