View Full Version : Favorite Toy You Had as a Kid
My favorite toy I had as a kid was an Army helicopter. It was white with fancy insignia and about three feet long -- a big helicopter when you’re 8 years old. It ran on batteries, had double propellers that whirred into a blur, and made a pop pop pop pop pop helicopter sound. It had a tow-chain with a hook that could be hovered up and down. That made a neat sound too - oowhnanananana, oowhanananana! I also had an electric train set. I was on a rescue mission one day with my helicopter making it’s, pop pop pop sound over the tracks. The copter couldn’t fly. It just looked like it was flying with its whirring propellers, lol. I d placed some rubber people on the train track so they’d get bashed into by the train. The train was whoo, whooing and making its chuku chuku sound. When I hovered the tow-chain down to the track to the make the rescue the chain exploded into a blast of sparks and smoke, on the electric track. It derailed the train though just in time to save the people.

CollegeGirl 01-24-2003, 06:33 PM My favorite toy was my rag doll, Ms. B. My mom got her for me when I was a baby and I still have her. The thing is, I was really never into dolls or toys as a kid, but I absolutely ADORED this doll. Now, she's faded and her hair is melted together (My mom decided to wash and DRY her in the drier years ago. Well, the drier melted her hair. *LOL*) The cool thing was that I actually named her myself (this was when I was saying very few words, because I just learned words). I even wrote an essay on her for a writing assignment we had in high school.
Brian Damage 01-24-2003, 06:50 PM My G.I. Joe dolls.
Mijada 01-24-2003, 06:58 PM Probably my Legos or my Star Wars toys. I also played with this one Teddy Bear which I still have.
Any of my Star Wars Toys, especially the large playsets. I still have them locked away in Mom's attic.

I can't wait to buy my gameboy advance SP this summer when it is released. That will be my new favorite toy <GGG>
And the more classic arcade games they release, the happier I will be! :)

DetectiveGriffin 01-25-2003, 07:20 PM Oh, I just rememered a big fav (other than the hot wheels, of course) - we used to have dozens of weebles. Anybody remember those? Weebles wobble but they dont fall down.
I have some of the flintstones i used to play with constantly.
Fred accidentally got stuck in the dryer and shriveled up real bad.
Miss those weebles. anyone know if they still make them?
Mossopp 01-25-2003, 07:20 PM I was an odd little girl - I used to play with toy cars, Tonka trucks and Transformers. I had every Ghostbusters and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toy you could buy!
One of my most prominant childhood memories is Friday mornings in Primary 1 at school (I was 5) when the teacher would let us play with the toys in the classroom. The girls would always go to the front of the classroom and play with the dolls and dressing-up clothes and stuff. And the boys would always go to the back of the classroom and play with the building blocks and toy cars.
I was the exception to the rule - I would be the only girl who went to the back of the room on Friday mornings cos I much preferred playing with the cars and trucks and building blocks.
How my parents didn't realise there was something different about me then I do not know!

I remember them - we had them in our Primary 1 classroom!
They were at the front of the room with the girls stuff. They were the only girls toy I used to like!
Weebles ruled!
ABlairican Pie 01-25-2003, 07:39 PM I was a huge fan of Lego's when I was 6. I also liked a thing called Mattell Picture Maker which taught drawing stuff like Hot Wheels Cars (another favorite) and Peanuts, etc. I liked creative type toys. I had this small portable light table which showed how to draw Disney characters, in the 6th grade. I wish I could find that thing, because now I'm gonna have to spend $150 for a professional drawing light table!:( It's basically a rectangular box with light bulb inside which lights up a screen that you draw and trace on. I wonder if they figured it was a fire hazard, so they stopped making them...

Weebles were great. I had a number of them when I was a kid.
I know my nephew had some of the "new generation" of weebles toys when he was a toddler, but they changed the shape of the weebles, adding a head and a molded torso, as opposed to the traditional egg shaped originals.
I'll have to look on the web for some this weekend.
Warm & Fuzzy 01-26-2003, 12:06 AM Call me weird, but weebles scare me...

Barbies, baby!!
Ditto. Barbies were the ultimate source of fun. Once you had like 10 of them you could do practically whatever you wanted with them. My Barbie families always had some sort of crisis going on. I had like 200 of those things, maybe even more.
la10424 01-26-2003, 01:33 AM my teddy rupskin, he was the friggy-diggy man, i mean bear! i wish i still had my teddy rupskin but he got broken so he is no longer with us. :(
and my mickey mouse which i got while in disney land when i was 5 years old and i still have him, to this very day.:)
la10424 01-26-2003, 01:35 AM oh yes, lets not forget all my G.I. Joes! and all my legos
Bootsy Whoosh 01-26-2003, 01:40 AM I was fortunate enough to have a great childhood filled with great memories, and lots of great toys! The ones that jump out out me are:
Care Bears
Strawberry Shortcakes
Hot Wheels and Hot Wheels towns
My Little Pony and playsets (I had a ton of these. Between me and my sister we would take over the living room for weeks at time making huge MLP cities)
Pound Puppies and Pound Kitties
my remote controlled monster truck (my dad loves that thing just as much as I do. And my pets hate it ;) )
Fluppy Dogs
Hungry Hungry Hippos
Lite Brite
Legos
Commodore 64 and games
And I had this really cool set of "chipmunk family" toys. There was a mommy, a daddy, and a baby...his name was Milkweed They lived in a little stuffed log home. I really wish I hadn't gotten rid of this thing, I would love to have it now to relive those halcyon days.
a Smurf board game that had this huge spinning Smurf card dispenser
Books!! My dad used to read to me before bedtime. I loooooooooooooooooooved the Blue Bug books when I was really young, and then I really loved to Serendipity books by Stephen Cosgrove and Robin James when I was older...ones like Leo the Lop, Dragolin, Hucklebug (I had a thing for blue bugs I guess), Trapper, Morgan Morning, The Muffin Muncher, etc.
For the person needing a light table...you can make one yourself for far less than $150. I have before. I guess it depends on what kind of quality you want/need though.
~*Hannah_Lee*~ 01-26-2003, 03:05 AM I remembered more of my fave toys
My Littly Ponies
Lincoln Logs
Trolls
My Kid Sister (or whatever the heck that things name was)
Candyland
Cabbage Patch Dolls
Basically any baby doll there was, cuz I had too many toys as a kid. I was spoiled.
Big Wheels
Power Wheels Barbie Jeep (my little cousin had the convertible, I liked it better)
And what were those little animal toys, were you could buy the pet shop for them and they came with a cage and supples and stuff. Was that called My Little Pets???
I fell totally in love with baseball at the age of seven. So I'd have to say that anything I got having to do with baseball was a favorite toy. Baseball Gloves, bats, balls, baseball cards, tickets to major league games. Even my radio could be included as a favorite toy because I could listen to games on it. During the baseball season and beyond, when it was warm enough, I could play baseball practically all day long when I was between the ages of 8 and 14. There were a few distractions due to girls after I turned 12 or so of couse, lol.
Chad22 01-27-2003, 01:11 AM I was weird, id cut up Plastic and stuff and play with it. But it always had to be the perfect size and shape  I Liked action figures too.
JoPol_wannabe 01-27-2003, 02:46 PM My Barbies I had the barbie house, the car, one ken, 4 barbies, Skipper, barbie pool and 3 collectable barbies. My little ponies, Hot wheels, Tinker Toys, Cabbage Patch kids (I thought it was so funny that my brother had one named Lon because that was the same name as his bestfriend), Sit N' Spin I used to play with that till I got myself sick, My little people doll house, Lincoln logs, Legos, Play Doh, Nintendo I loved to play with the gun and the power pad, Slip N' Slide, and I can't remember what this was called but I played with it all the time it was this tape player that would play disney and seaseme street books on tape and it had 4 buttons on the side and you could play games it was so cool.
