Does anybody know why the character of Becky was virtually nonexistent in the last few seasons? It seems very strange to me that they went through the trouble of re-casting the character after the first actress went to college -- and then hardly ever used her!
The absolute best example of this was the 9th season Thanksgiving episode where Roseanne is talking to Mark about "my daughter" and Becky isn't even there! Where on Earth was she supposed to be spending Thanksgiving???

I know what you mean...it seemed as if she was in every other episode, or even less than that.

Exactly. If you also noticed, she had three lines or less in the last season she was on an episodes with the exception of the last ep. I wish Lecy would have agree to do the last season.

Yeah, I found it quite strange that they showed more of Becky's husband Mark than of Becky herself. Of course, you must admit Mark was amusing as hell to watch...

well they wrote quite a lot about Becky in the first five sesons maybe they thought people didnt want to see anymore of her. As Mark had few if any episodes mainly about him.

I think alot of it had to do with the actresses. During the 8th season, it was Lecy than Sara, sometimes within consecutive episodes! Since alot of the scripts are written a while in advance of the taping, maybe the producers had decided that this "trick" has lsot its charm and decided to bascially write out her character. I mean, there's only so much you can make fun of with the "dual" Becky situation.
Anyway, I felt that in the laster seasons, the dynamic of the Becky character has dramatically changed anyway- the show was probably better off without her.

I wonder if Lecy regrets her decision about semi-leaving Roseanne? I know education is important, but leaving a hit show is a big decision. She could have attended college after the show ended. That's what I would have done.
Ride the gravy train when you can.
I saw an interview with John Goodman. When he was asked about Lecy having left the show he clearly intimated that something troublesome had happened. He wouldn't say what. He looked down and said he'd rather not go into it. I got the impression that he was displeased with her about something. So maybe there was more to her leaving than a decision about college.
