View Full Version : Shows You Would Like to See Locked Away
Plasma 01-23-2003, 12:20 AM What shows are you completely tired of watching and would like all stations not to air them for at least 10 years...here's mine:
1. Gilligan's Island...not many shows made and it seems like I can act out each one of them.
2. Cosby Show...hadn't watched this show until TBS started airing it in 1999....well now it is another story with WGN, TBS and Nick at Nite airing it!
3. Family Matters...lock this show away for 10 years and it will be a sure classic!
4. Mary Tyler Moore...slow down on this show!
5. Happy Days...take a long break!
Well, this is my list...interested what others have to say!
Sitcomwriter 01-23-2003, 12:32 AM The Beverly Hillbillies-The worst
The Andy Griffith Show-2nd worst
The Brady Bunch-Keep the spinoffs just get rid of the original series so no one ever has to hear "Time to Change" again....Well maybe keep the final season for personal reasons
;) :D :p
Bewitched-After watching the FAR more superior "Tabitha" I can tell you that this show sucks.
I Dream of Jeannie-See Bewitched minus the whole "Tabitha" thing.
Hogan's Heroes-It bores me.
Mash-See Hogan's Heroes
Aside from those few shows I like almost everything.
Czas na Zywiec 01-23-2003, 01:41 AM Even though it's not on as often as before, lock up The Beverly Hillbilles and throw away the key!
Happy Days needs a rest. Bring back Laverne and Shirley instead of it.
Brady Bunch too. It's been on the air for so long. Take it away and bring it back in a few years so you can bring another show in it's place. Maybe bring Perfect Strangers to a decent time.
APPLEI 01-23-2003, 01:48 AM my choices are
family matters
full house
step by step and
saved by the bell.
these shows have been run into the ground.
in another year or so the cosby show might make this list.
Brian Damage 01-23-2003, 07:38 PM Full House
M*A*S*H
Beverly Hillbillies
The Andy Griffith Show
SBTB Geek 01-23-2003, 09:15 PM "The Cosby Show" (for five years)
dawsongirl 01-23-2003, 10:29 PM The Beverly Hillbillies...yuck!
Green Acres...burn the tapes for all I care.
Friends...and most of what NBC passes off as comedy
Adamantium 01-24-2003, 12:26 AM -Gilligan's Island/I never liked it but personal feelinsg aside, it's been in syndication since I was little, probably longer than that. It needs a rest in order to be appreciated.
-Seinfeld/I never really liked this show either, but because almost everyone else did, it's on all the time.
-The Beverly Hillbillies/It's not very entertaining and yet it's on too much. Like "Gilligan" it was on TBS when I was young and then TV Land. However now it's on Hallmark. Just go away TBH.
-Bewitched and I Dream of Jeanie/ Although there was a time when I liked these shows, I don't want them coming back to TV Land. They need a longer break.
Chocoholic 01-24-2003, 01:06 AM I love Cheers, but I do think N@N can cut down on the number of airings each week. Cut down to one or two episodes a night and air another show.
I also like The Cosby Show, but it airs on 4 different stations in my area. That's 3 stations too many.
Shows I'll be happy to see locked away forever: Friends, Seinfeld, Three's Company, The Golden Girls, Will & Grace, Dharma & Greg, Suddenly Susan, Full house, Family Matters, and Home Improvement.
James 01-24-2003, 03:43 AM Mine are the following:
All in the Family
Cheers
Friends
Married ... with Children
The Simpsons
Three's Company
tvfan 2 01-24-2003, 03:44 AM Gilligan's Island- Never liked this show much.
The Andy Griffith Show- I used to watch this show for a while. I don't really care for it much.
Happy Days- As much as I like the show. I would lock it away for 5 or 10 years. Then put it back on TV Land.
7th Heaven- I like the youngers one the best. But it comes on three or four Stations. I just don't care for this show any more.
I Love Lucy- I really like this show. I never seen any of the other Lucys shows.
Leave it to Beaver- I never really liked this show. I would leave it off for a while.
shocolah 01-24-2003, 10:17 AM 1. My Three Sons. Bad acting, borrrrrrrrrrrrrrring, stupid, hate that show.
2. Hogan's Heros. Even worse than My Three Sons.
3. Full House
4. That Girl
5. Cheers
6. The Nanny
7. Gomer Pyle
boechsner 01-24-2003, 01:19 PM Forget locking them away, just destroy them:
Three's Company
Happy Days
The Beverly Hillbillies
Full House
M*A*S*H
Wings
Coach
Hogan's Heroes
The Andy Griffith Show (all except The Pickle Story)
Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.
The Honeymooners
Married ...with Children
LucyFan 01-24-2003, 03:48 PM "The Beverly Hillbilles"- definitely needs to get buried. It is boring and not worth watching.
"Taxi"- burn it for all I care!!!
"Maude"- We don't need her around. She's horrible and a bad influence.
"Hogan's Heroes"- the show is absolutely boring.
"All in the Family" / "Archie Bunker's Place"- The screaming and yelling matches between Archie and Meathead, Archie and Edith, Archie and Gloria, Archie and the Bar tender, Archie and his friends are just way too much. Archie, Archie, Archie! No show is better than two. Lock away Archie!!!
"The Cosby Show"- On way too much and definitely needs a LONG break. Replace it with "Cosby" or "Cosby Mysteries".
"The Nanny"- she's annoying.
"M*A*S*H"- It is another one of these shows that is just plain out boring. I can't get through a single episode without turning the channel on to something else.
That is all I can think of for now.

I really don't watch TVLand that much anymore, but whenever I turn it on, the only show I ever see is "The Beverly Hillbillys."
Give it a rest, please, along with "Gomer Pyle."

Can I ask you a question, Lucyfan. Have you really watched AITF or ABP? Yes, I realize that both shows had a lot of screamin and yelling going on. Deep down, you knew everybody loved each other. Take the episode of AITF when Gloria, Mike, and Joey move to California. Towards the end you have a big scene with Mike and Archie. Mike says something along the lines of this, "You probably thought I hated you, but I love you." Incredible isn't it? Mike and Archie fought so much, but you watch that scene and you see Archie cry at the end of that episode, you can really tell that the move tore him apart.
Wait, let me go back to AITF for a minute. Archie was a bigot on that show, but you watch ABP and you see this transformation start to occur. I went through the episode guide for ABP and do you realize that Archie had a black maid after Edith's death? The old Archie would've never had a black maid. I think he even hit a fella later on because he said some racial slurs towards the maid. Incredible how people change.
Anyway, just wanted to say this.

There was also that black lady that lived behind him. Polly? Oh heck, you probably know who I mean.
Frasier W. Crane 01-25-2003, 12:44 AM 1. Friends-Grr..
2. Still Standing-Another Raymond :P
3. Andy Richter- ...
4. Family Affair (2002)-I hate when they re-due old shows.
There are many more, my brain just isn't working...

Yeah, her name was Polly.
Mondello 01-25-2003, 07:05 AM I can't believe I saw people post shows such as Andy Griffith Show and Brady Bunch. Man those shows are awesome. If I had to pick shows today i'd be Beverly Hillbillies (only because they have showed it so much) I'd love for all crap on tv today to be locked up and they only showed classic shows.
Central Perk 01-25-2003, 10:21 AM The Beverly Hillbillies- This show stinks, imo, bring back Peticoat Junction.
Happy Days- I'd rather see Mork & Mindy or Laverne & Shirley.
Leave it to Beaver- Don't like it, the plots don't interest me.
Impressions 01-25-2003, 03:43 PM The Beverly Hillbilles - Stations can't get enough of it, it needs to be locked away to collect dust for a few years before it comes back.
The Brady Bunch - Again, it has been played numerously in sydication, and needs a rest from it's overplaying.
The Cosby Show - It airs on many stations, at many times of the day, and things would be better if it took a break from playing continuously.
I Love Lucy - It has been in sydication for nearly half a century, and has been broadcasted all over the world at all times of day and night, it needs to take a long vaction and needs to be delayed. If it happens, when it returns hopefully it will gain a stronger popularity all over again.
Gilligan's Island - It has been in sydication for over about 20-30 years, it's about time.

I agree.
Jack1000 02-01-2003, 03:13 PM HERE ARE MINE!!!!
SURVIVOR: The first one was interesting, but now it's a novelty act that has worn thin. (Go Completly)
Wrestling: They can call it the WWF, WWE, NWO, whatever. Good guy v.s bad guy. Cut back. Everyone knows it's fake. Why not watch something that's planted in reality? (Cut Back)
Cosby Show: Great episodes, most of them, but it needs to be on less often (cut back)
Mash: Overplayed (Go Completly)
Married With Children: (Go Completly)

I disagree. I Love Lucy is a classic! There's too many people that like the show for have it to be locked away.
pandora_spocks 02-01-2003, 08:33 PM I resent everyone saying Bewitched. It's been way too long since it went off the screen gems network and not everyone got to see it on the Hallmark channel. I could sit here and make a list a mile long of shows that I really don't like, but I'm not gonna waste my time writing up all the shows that I don't think should be shown as much as they are. But I bet anyone on here that as soon as Bewitched comes to TV Land it will have a good time slot, but a few weeks later they'll give it a horrible time like 5am and only show it once a day. They've done it before and they'll do it again!

I didn't mean to upset you. I would love to see "Bewitched" come to DVD. It's just there are so many other shows that I think should be shown on TV.
pandora_spocks 02-01-2003, 09:01 PM I'm not upset, it's just everyone knocks Bewitched. It's really underrated and IMO it doesn't get the credit it should receive like the shows currently on tv. And yes, I would LOVE to see it on DVD. I have VCDs that I've made, but it's just not the same. If it came out on DVD I wouldn't care if it even came on TVL because to be honest I'm not fond of TVL anymore.
And here's an added note:
I think I'll move to Japan 'cause they've got all the Bewitched merchandise that I'd like to have. :D

Gilligan's Island - If I see another episode of the crap I'll sream and then I'll smash the TV up.
Roseanne - On a little to much yet still a good show.
Married With... Children - On endless replay on TV1 give it a break.

Yea that always bugged me because sometimes I forget and I turn on the tv and see one of those sappy movies, lol. But I was just on Lifetime's site and saw that they added an extra slot for The Nanny at 5:30 pm Mon - Fri. :D
Try being a fan of Hogans Heroes. Everybody hates that show
I think The Love Boat is a fairly maligned and hated show, actually. It seems like everybody hates that show too.
I have loved the show for years. It makes me laugh, it relaxes me and it's fun to watch, JMO.

OMG! Thank you, for telling me that. I don't usually go to lifetime for schedules because I usually have them burned into my memory as they usually are. Oh well, now I get to see the Nanny at another time! :woohoo: 'Where's my Nanny?'

I've noticed that. I like the Love Boat too. Anything that full of 70s TV stars is cool with me. :)
I couldn't believe the massacre they gave LB on the TVLand boards. All because The Waltons left?
1. I didn't realize there were that many Waltons fans
2. It's not LBs fault.

I've been to them TVL boards. I've bitched a few times over there, but I never went into the LB board. It seems like a lot of people are bitching over there on them boards. Just about every board I went to had somebody complaining about something.

The LB board is brutal. The Hogan's Heroes board is full of "We want this back!" posts. I bitched once to the TVL dudes about the LB movies being two hours originally. He pretty much called me a liar. Fine, cover up the fact that you cut 1/3 of it out.

It bothered me so much when I first came here and everyone was calling Cheers stupid just because N@N knocked FOL off the air and then Cheers took its place. As I look back on my old posts on this boards all of them are basically telling everyone to watch Cheers, and that its a great show. I also like Andy Richter Controls the Universe too and some people hate that. I'm not mad at anyone for not liking these two shows but sometimes I just wish that more people would like them.

I like the show, but I'm sick of seeing it. I really am.
TVJunkie101 02-12-2003, 01:56 PM Hogan's Heroes, Bewitched and The Love Boat are VERY underrated. I think all of them are great. HH is a little more mature than a lot of shows (like Barney Miller), so I understand why not a lot of people like it. Barney Miller is also heavily underrated. Same for The Nanny.
I'm not to big on new comedies, but I really enjoy The Nanny. I still really enjoy the Golden Girls, but Lifetime needs to cut back on it some.
SHOWS THAT NEED TO BE LOCKED AWAY
Beverly Hillbillies - I about threw up when I learned it was coming to Hallmark. TVL ruined it for me by playing it so much. I couldn't get enough of it on N@N, now I can't stand it. Bring back Petticoat Junction or Green Acres.
MASH - fx ran this show into the ground. I find it so boring, believe me, I HAVE tried to watch it.
I Love Lucy - I'm taping it now, but it needs to be given a rest for a few years.
Leave it to Beaver - I find the show incredibly corny and tiresome. Bring on more Father Knows Best. I used to love watching this, but it's just gotten old.
Andy Griffith - I just don't see the appeal. I can watch it, but I just don't go out of my way to do so. TVL really seems to favor it with two primo spots. Enough is enough.
I guess that's all I can think of.

I agree. HH is one of those sophisticated type comedies, taking on serious stuff (aka more reality based stuff) instead of just one liners and slapstick. Compare it with I Love Lucy, and ILL looks like a 5 year old on a sugar high wrote it. It's too far from reality for me anymore.
Three'sCompanyrules 02-18-2003, 12:30 AM The shows I would like to see locked up would be: Roseanne, Cosby and Cheers. I wish these shows would be gone for ever.
Toni Hawken 02-21-2003, 08:42 PM Hi
here in Australia I'm tired of these shows
Brady Bunch
Mash
Seinfeld
Bewicthed
There are so many shows that were shown only when they originally aired that have never been seen again here, like.
Adam 12
Dick van Dyke show
Vegas
Spenser for hire
So many shows from my childhood, they never change the shows here.
BingAling889 02-23-2003, 01:10 AM Those who said FRIENDS? Bite your tongue! So, the story lines aren't written for 8 year olds anymore. People grow up.
Anyway....here are my picks....
Andy Griffith Show- Whoever made that opening theme up should be shot. And...that show was just never entertaining.
According to Jim- The man should have his children taken away from him. He and his tubby sidekick (who really reminds me of Andy Richter) can go leap off a bridge.
M*A*S*H- Color me stupid, but I never found WAR funny.

Sometimes, I don't know what annoys me more about Friends: the show itself or its obnoxious fans who can't accept the fact that not everybody in this world loves it. Get a life already!

2) Gilligan's Island
3) The Andy Griffith Show
4) Growing Pains
5) M*A*S*H
6) A Different World
7) The Love Boat
8) Good Times
9) The Beverly Hillbillies
