Thanks for the heads up, TJ. This was a good article. The only disappointing thing was in their list of Latino stars, they left out one of the hardest working (and another sexy guy) Esai Morales. He is currently starring in three shows.
I am glad to see Freddie getting such a nod. I am glad to hear George still admires him. I, too, have set up a shrine of sorts to Freddie in my new computer room. (Basically pictures on the walls and a display of all the eBay stuff I have won.) Way to go George and much success on your career.

On today's Sunday newspaper it gives you a rundown on George Lopez. I enjoyed the article because I had no clue of George's existance until The George Lopez Show. Now I'm a big fan of George Lopez. He always remembers Freddie which is very important to me. I'm glad for George's success. He reminds me of Freddie in so many ways.

The article says - The broadcast industry and TV critics are all talking about Lopez as a major Latino star and perhaps the legitimate heir to the late comedian Freddie Prinze Sr. of Chico and the Man fame.

George says..... If you could see my dressing room, it's kind of a shrine to him. But, our humor was different. He was on in the 70's and was self-deprecatory towards Chicanos - The time of Archie Bunker and his attitudes. Now we can be funny without that......

Yes that's the one. It's a good article.

Freddie and George would've been such good friends. They probably would've collaberated on shows and movies.

Latinos become force in Hollywood

By Rosa Fernandez

LOS ANGELES, April 29 — Lopez, Cruz, Garcia, Guzman, Diaz, Rodriguez, Del Toro, Leguizamo, Hayek, and Banderas ... there’s something going on here!

...at long last the entertainment industry seems to be taking notice, with greater representation of Latinos in both quantity and quality in the mainstream media.

“IT’S COOL TO BE LATINO. Things are changing; it’s the perfect moment to use your last name,” said Orlette Ruiz, president of Mambo Casting, a 12-year-old commercial casting office in Los Angeles.
There is a definite change in the air. Not only is the country feeling the influence of what is now the largest minority in the United States — the Hispanic population has reached 38 million, with a consumer capacity of $580 billion annually — but at long last the entertainment industry seems to be taking notice, with greater representation of Latinos in both quantity and quality in the mainstream media.
Most visible is the current success of the ABC comedy “The George Lopez Show.” Not since “Chico and the Man” in the mid-1970s had there been a successful primetime show with Latino leads, least of all one with a full Latino family.

MOVIE STAR’S HELPING HAND
It all started, interestingly enough, with movie star/producer Sandra Bullock’s desire to see a Latino show on television. Though not a Latino, Bullock has a love for the culture; so does her producing partner Jonathon Komack, who happens to be the son of “Chico” producer James Komack. When she and Komack decided they should get into producing TV, they both hit on the same idea.
“We knew nothing about producing TV but felt a Latino show was long overdue, so we went out looking for an idea and ended up seeing George Lopez at a comedy club,” said Bullock, who would become the executive producer of Lopez’s show. Bullock campaigned hard for Lopez but confessed, as a newcomer to TV producing, “We really couldn’t convince people that we knew what we were doing. They fell in love with George, but they didn’t quite get it like we had.”
“When something is good, American audiences will find it,” said Helford. The audience embrace proves his point. “The biggest thing we’ve proven is that you can take a Latino actor and put him in any show and the mainstream audience will totally accept it. For Lopez, this turn of events is a dream come true. He remembers watching Freddie Prinze as a kid and being inspired to become a comedian.”
Lopez is struck by the “Chico” connection. “It’s great that James Komack’s son found me, and to be the only show since Chico and the Man that’s gone this far is a wonderful legacy to him.” Lopez added that, as a fan of “The Drew Carey Show,” he recalls watching the credits and asking himself, “Where is my Bruce Helford?”

Hey I've got to hear George's alien comedy album. I hope they sell it in CD.

I'm proud of him. The fact he's not taking roles that are beneath him is Mah-ve-lous.

George Lopez & the lady who plays his mom on his tv show are on the new HOLLYWOOD SQUARES this week. Sounds like Freddie doesn't it? The moms hair is fixed kinda different tho. Keep a lookout for it in your area...

Yes Ms JennyLee they do still sell the Alien Nation Cd. I've seen it at Best Buy and if I'm not mistaken there is another out now. I'm going to keep looking for articles. It amazes me sometimes the things I find in these old magazines.

As I mentioned earlier George Lopez & the lady who plays his mom on his show are on the NEW HOLLYWOOD SQUARES this week. On today episode, Freddie got mentioned on there. After they get a winner on the days episode, the winner has to answer questions aboiut each of the guest stars to win more money. I think they are true & false questions. Todays winner got to do that to win savings bonds for her new baby to be. The question they asked her about George Lopez was:

Was George Lopez inspired to go into comedy by Freddie Prinze? ( think they said comedy & not acting) True or False The answer was true & I think the lady got it right! Yay for Freddie being mentioned on tv! :) & Freddie had been on the old HOLLYWOOD SQUARES in the 70's which is another similarity between him & George Lopez...

If you're interested, George and Constance Marie are in the latest issue of People En Espanol. It's a double issue with the 25 Most beautiful list and a list of dynamic duos. They are the top of the list. It's a funny picture of them, so if I get a chance, I'll try to scan it for you. ;)

I have an article on George Lopez that was in the USA version of PEOPLE awhile back that had pics like that in it. I got it cuz it mentioned Freddie in it. I wonder if they took the same story & put in the Spanish version of it translating it to Spanish? I think I posted it on here in one of the topics that mentions George. Do a search for him on the CATM boards here & it will probably come up... If it's the same article then folks who don't know Spanish won't need a translator to read it... :)

Yes Ms Cheryl. I said that was the same article only translated.;)
Ok, I found a couple more. One is the new magazine article I told y'all about and one is an old ad for the show. I'm still trying to find another one I have for his radio show, but so I haven't come across it. It's here somewhere though! LOL

OK This is George and Constance Marie from People En Espanol Dynamic Duos.

When Mike & I were watching George Lopez show the other nite Mike commented he looked like he'd lost weight & was trying to look like Freddie with his hair & all. I told him I wondered if he was trying to imitate Freddie...
