View Full Version : R. Kelly Arrested On Porn Charges
Janice 01-22-2003, 03:12 PM MIAMI (Jan. 22) - R. Kelly, already facing child pornography charges in Illinois, was arrested Wednesday in Florida on additional child pornography charges after investigators said they found 12 photographs of a nude girl at the singer's home.
Kelly, whose first name is Robert, was arrested without incident at a Miami-Dade County hotel. He was being held at the county jail. Bond was set at $12,000.
The Grammy award-winning artist has been out on bond and awaiting trial on 21 counts of child pornography in Chicago. Those charges stem from a videotape authorities say shows him having sex with a 13-year-old girl. Kelly, 36, has denied that charge.
Col. Grady Judd of the Polk County Sheriff's Office told WSVN-TV that three photos show Kelly having sex with a female under 18. In the other nine photos, the female is nude. He said the photos were found last June during a search of a home Kelly rented in Davenport after he was arrested there on the Illinois warrant. Davenport, in Polk County, is about 35 miles southwest of Orlando.
The R&B singer is known for hits ranging from the Grammy-winning, gospel-like ``I Believe I Can Fly'' to sexually charged material such as ``Bump 'n' Grind,'' ``Feelin' On Yo Booty'' and ``Your Body's Callin'.''
The Illinois investigation began after the Chicago Sun-Times reported last February that it had received the tape anonymously and passed it along to Chicago police.
Kelly also has been the focus of at least four lawsuits, three of which accuse him of having sex with underage girls. He has acknowledged settling two of the lawsuits regarding underage sex, but his lawyers have said they will fight the third.
Kelly's new album, ``Chocolate Factory,'' is scheduled to be released in February. He was nominated for a Grammy earlier this month for the song ``The World's Greatest,'' from the ``Ali'' soundtrack.

isiahthomas 01-22-2003, 04:09 PM This dude got serious issues, i saw the news a minute ago on yahoo.com & aol.com. Out of all the women in the world to date, he decides to mess with underage girls. He needs help bad & to think i stood by him & supported him thinking he was innocent when everybody else was doggin him. Ronald Isley of the Isley Brothers is the only entertainer in his corner, everybody else in the industry knows he's a pervert. I'm still gonna buy his music cause he's the best r&b singer to me but i'll be glad when all of this is over & i hope he goes to prison cause he needs to reflect on what he's done.
Kay Scarpetta 01-22-2003, 04:24 PM I heard that on the radio at school today.... pathetic.
Pitooey 01-22-2003, 04:31 PM If these charges are true Than I say --
"SEND HIM TO THE SLAMMER" ............ & throw the key away.
Kristina 01-22-2003, 04:37 PM Geez, does he ever stop?
Hopefully they'll be able to make these charges stick.
It amazes me how the rich and famous manage to skirt the law...
There's enough evidence against him to get a conviction. There are videos of him having sex with at least one underage girl, if not more. They also found pornographic images of minors at his house as well. Plus, the dude married Aaliyah when she was fifteen. I hope they put him away and he can get help. It's too bad; he's a talented guy.

^okay these were found in June, it's old..but now when his CD is about to drop, they come out?
DarleneIllyria 01-22-2003, 10:28 PM Eh, I'm not going to sugarcoat what I'm about to say. If you are highly offensive by me or the stuff I say, you need to just skip my post all together. I say if this guy is having sex with underage girls, they need to cut 'it' off.
I'm not condemning sex if you are a full adult and the person you are having sex with is a full adult. It's just sick and perverted to be 36 years old and ****ing with underage people. Cut it off and throw him in the slammer.
Just my 2 cents
dlemond 01-23-2003, 01:46 PM I think when he's in the joint, the "R." will be dropped and he'll be known to the boys as just "Kelly."
Or NS (No Sleep) Kelly, PTS (Pickup That Soap) Kelly, PM (Pretty Mouth) Kelly, and HTS (Hurts To Sit) Kelly.
Poor Kelly, taken advantage of by grown men.
Payback's a bitch.
:p
Pitooey 01-23-2003, 04:10 PM Kelly & Pee wee and the rest of them...........:p
laceyinthesky 01-24-2003, 02:59 AM What's with all these famous people and kiddie porn nowadays? I've been hearing a lot more about it recently.
SBTB Geek 01-26-2003, 10:59 PM I am ashamed to admit, I used to be a fan. (R. is a GREAT album.)
Like all other offenders, he should serve his time. It's not fair to get out easy just because he is a celebrity.
Adele 01-28-2003, 02:28 PM What grosses me out most isn't really the issue, it's how everyone discusses it. What the hell man? You don't find it at all weird to sit at your computers and talk about how "R. Kelly was arrested on porn charges"???? Do you think it makes you.....any less perverted? Dude, try NOT digging into the lives of famous people. God man, if this happened in West Virginia to some unknown cable guy, no one would be talking about it, b/c it wouldn't be all over the news and ****. People only care b/c he's famous. **** off. He's still a person, a perv who happens to sing.
Note: I am in NO WAY a fan of R. Kelly. I have never been a fan of R. Kelly, and I never will be a fan of R. Kelly. I was not sticking up for R. Kelly........The topic just made it easy for me to bitch.

Someone didn't have their Wheaties this morning. It's not "perverted", as you say, to discuss a singer's arrest on a Music Chat Board. What should we talk about...WWII?...the Stock Market? Nobody is "digging" into anyone's life. This is a news item. Don't come to an entertainment site if you get "grossed out" by simple discussion of current events.
If you don't want to join in the discussion, great. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.
Now go find another pervert to defend.

Do you realize how ridiculous you sound? R. Kelly's personnel business (which it completely is) is a "news item"? A story for "entertainment"? 'I' happen to think that is VERY sick and VERY pathetic. It's just very sad that some people find entertainment in another person's trouble.....:( I feel bad for you. I really do.

Save your pity, pervert protector. R. Kelly allegedly committed a serious crime, thus making it a NEWS ITEM. He's a celebrity, therefore it's discussed in entertainment forums.
Pay attention...and do your best to follow the connection. Celebrity+Crime=News Item. Get it now? I know you can do it.
I suppose you never discussed the OJ Simpson case? Oh wait, he was up for double murder, while Kelly is only charged with that pesky matter of child pornography which shows him having sex with underage children.

Hate to have to tell you that when you break the law it is not a private matter but a matter of public record.
Sorry that people are outraged and you feel the need to tell others to leave it alone.
What, should we should ignore all unpleasant things in this world? That will make them go away and you can live in your little bubble?
You have to acknoweldge these matters in order to prevent it in the future.
He or Anyone who has done what he has should be taken to task and publicly embarassed and berated.
Should we ignore all child molestors who get busted?
Wouldn't you like to know if your local teacher was arrested for similar charges?
Your defense of his privacy makes me wonder what you have been up to in your life.
AND if you or anyone else can't take that your life is compromised because you broke the law, then here is a clue -
DONT BREAK THE LAW.

Yeah, and that too. ;)
Brian Damage 01-30-2003, 02:23 PM We can talk about whatever we damn well want to on a friggin CHIT CHAT board. R. Kelly is a celebrity who happens to be a depraved, sick and twisted individual. For you to defend the guy as being a human being says a lot about your character as one because people like that are not human. He should get a taste of his own medicine in a prison cell by a guy named Bubba.
As for you Adele...stay away from my kids!
Brian Damage 01-30-2003, 02:30 PM Another thing, when you choose to become a celebrity, you choose to have your life made public. When you choose to be a low life into child pornography, you damn well better believe that I want to know about it and be aware.

"Celebrity+Crime=News Item" AHHHHH, godddd, take your stupid addition fact, and shove it up your arse. Now YOU pay attention "Janice". The only reason "Celebrity+Crime=News Item" is b/c "Lame Pathetic Loser American+Nothing to do=An unusual and yet VERY VERY strange curiosity for everything "not their business" related." Get it, Janice? (I like to call people by their names, ok?!). You see, we're all just a bunch of lame asses, starving for SOMETHING to give our lives meaning, and most people, including yourself, choose to live your life surveying and judging others. I can't understand WHY people need celebrity gossip to give them something to talk about? Don't people like plant gardens and **** anymore? You want me to admit that what he did was wrong? Fine. R. Kelly was wrong to do that. Satisfied? No. I know that you aren't dear Janice. You want me to keep talking about it, don't you?! You want me to go into detail about what he did, don't you?! DONT YOU?! DONT YOU?!?!?! Janice, you silly perv with nothing to do, please understand that "Lame Pathetic Loser American+Nothing to do" doesn't HAVE to have negative results. Go jump rope. Ride a skooter! Honestly, I don't give a ****. However, don't use OTHER people's lives to make yours exciting. That's STUPID, Janice. STUPID. Now, go ahead Janice, REPLY, I know you're going to. B/c you want to tell me once again that R. Kelly commited a serious crime, and therefor, being a celeb it should totally make for a good chat at dinner, yes?
Woah, ok, NOW I have other replies. Everyone's ganging up on Adele. Poor me. Ok:
1. **** you. I never was out to defend R. Kelly b/c
A. He sucks, and I have ALWAYS hated his music
B. ****ing read between the lines people. My posts weren't about "justifying the perv", it was more like, find something else to entertain you, not ****ing OTHER people, who you DONT know

Stable home life huh?
Now it's painfully obvious that you are not a perv, but most likely a victim of something you desperately want to keep a secret.
In fact I'd put money on it. It doesn't take a genius to see that.
PRIVACY PRIVACY! KEEP YOUR BLINDERS ON! NOTHING TO SEE IN MY HOUSE! NOTHING HAPPENING HERE! DONT LOOK OUT YOUR WINDOW! MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS!
Therapy may be good for you.
This is the bottom line: R. Kelly likes to have sex with little girls. Not only that, but he's dumb enough to create photographic evidence of it. He'll serve his time.
Rhiannon 01-30-2003, 09:36 PM I really hate R. Kelly
isiahthomas 02-28-2003, 03:15 PM R Kelly's new cd Chocolate Factory has sold more copies than 50 Cent's new cd so far. I wonder why artists sell more when controversy is involved. 50 Cent's cd has sold so many records in a few weeks, i'm so shocked. I never thought 50 Cent would blow up like this but then again, with the help of Eminem & Dr Dre behind him, it doesn't surprise me. I could care less what R Kelly does in his personal life, the man still makes good music & i like his Ignition song. I don't like the remix though.

It may be due to controversy, or it could just be it's a GOOD c.d. like i think.
