The TV series family was an hour long drama produced by Aaron Spelling from 1976-80. It also featured Kristy McNichol (Empty Next) as Nancy's younger sister. Meredith Baxter played the oldest child on the show.

Gee that makes me sound old. I am 41. I remember Meredith Baxter way back in 1972 in a series called Bridget Loves Bernie. That is where she met her former husband, David Birney, who co-starred with her on the series.

Talking about two shows you never heard of and me having a clear memory of those two shows make me feel old. It's all good.

Sometimes TV Land shows Bridget Loves Bernie as a box weekend package. Not too long ago they show it as a tribute to the cast of Family Ties.
