I love Gordy:)
He always has some funny lines. Like, when Mary was hired at another station, at her going away party in the newsroom, he said something like, "She really picks up a party, doesn't she?"

I love how everyone thought he was the sportscaster. "I'm the WEATHERMAN, Ted!"

Why did everyone think he was the sportscaster?

Because he's black. I guess people figured a black, athletic looking guy must be doing sports, not weather. Mostly it was Ted that I remember thinking that.

Gordy has some great lines (and a more significant presence) in one of my favorite episodes, # 49 "The Good Time News", where he co-anchors with Ted.

After Ted tells a Polish joke on the news, Mary hands Ted a memo to read on-air:

Ted: "The management of WJM would like to apologize to the Polish community for remarks made earlier in this broadcast." Remarks? What remarks?

Gordy: We'll be back with further apologies after this message.

Yeah, I like that quote, too!
Of course, I like the part in that ep when Mary tells Ted to shut up on the air!!!

 I had forgotten about that line. "The Good-Time News" is definitely one of my favorite eps. too. I agree with Leigh Ann (Mama Fan) about Mary telling Ted to shut up. Too funny!!

That's what makes it one of my faves! I was happy to see that it also made the TV Guide list of "10 Best MTM Episodes"!! (Certainly some "good-time news".) It was also a shock because I think it's an episode only die-hard fans (like us) would even recall, let alone pick as a "best episode".
